  1. July 12: fell asleep in the living room yesterday evening after dinner, so didn't get in the walk I meant to do and not actually sure how long I slept. Definitely more than 7 hours though. Very glad today is Friday and I'm not on call this weekend.
  2. July 11: closer to 6 hours than 7, not sure exactly, had a work call in the middle of the night and didn't have to go in but did have to sort stuff out over the phone. 15 minute walk.
  3. July 10: hit my minimum goals, 10 minute walk and 7 hours of sleep. Reminder to self- try to workout sooner after work rather than putting it off until later when it tends to get cut shorter than I'd prefer
  4. Challenge day 1, July 9: only 6 hours of sleep last night, 38 minutes on the treadmill this evening. All walking, gave blood this morning and didn't want to push it.
  5. July 8: about 8 hours sleep, then basic bodyweight circuit and 40 minutes on the treadmill for another zombie mission
  6. July 7: 8 hours sleep, never got a proper walk in. Kept telling myself to go do it but kept doing other things instead. Need to watch that.
  7. It was reading on my phone, so half credit? July 6: 7 hours sleep, 15 minutes on the treadmill I got a new battery in my smartwatch the other day so I've started using that for the full day's distance tracking for walking to Mordor. Quick comparison tonight before and after I got on the treadmill and it looks pretty accurate, walked a half mile and it went from 1.3 to 1.8 for the day.
  8. July 5: Only about 6 hours of sleep last night, my own fault for just staying up too late reading. Always a problem when I've had a couple good nights' rest and then don't feel tired when I should be going to bed. Legs were a little stiff and achy but not nearly as bad as after the first bodyweight circuit day. Braved the outdoors for once and walked to the pharmacy and back rather than stopping by as I drove to work, so got some vitamin D and remembered exactly how much I hate the Mid-Atlantic humidity.
  9. Sounds good to me, we can meet at the Green Dragon and head out from there.
  10. That Peanut Tofu Buddha Bowl was delicious, thank you @Seraphinafor linking the recipe! Made it for the whole family and even my carnivore of a father loved the sauce, he said it tasted just like what he gets at his favorite Thai restaurant.
  11. Day four: eight hours of sleep, after breakfast I did a bodyweight circuit and then 40 minutes on the treadmill. Reloaded the Zombies Run app on my new phone after mentioning it to someone else and did the first mission, so mostly walking with a little jogging at the end.
  12. Day three: eight and a half wonderful hours of sleep last night, I really needed that. Thirty minutes on the treadmill after work. Still sore but not nearly as stiff as yesterday, should be good to do the bodyweight workout again tomorrow. Joined the Walking to Mordor forum thread, never tried tracking by distance like that as opposed to time so I'm hoping I can stick with it for the (very) long run. Or walk.
  13. I'm basically going to be poor Bilbo oversleeping and running out of his hole waving the contract and yelling "wait for me!" for the rest of the year, but better a late start than no start at all. Just joined NF and started my very first challenge to get up and get moving in general- 3404 miles probably isn't going to happen in the next four weeks, but it's a great long term goal to keep walking in mind and to keep me paying attention to how long and how far I go. .
  14. New member, level one challenge. Main goal is just to get up and get moving every day- specific side quests are to walk for 10 minutes a day, do the basic bodyweight workout or some other similar strength training twice a week, and get 7+ hours of sleep a night. Yesterday was day one: did the basic bodyweight workout and walked to cool down, felt fine. Did not get nearly as much sleep as I was hoping for, went to bed at almost 0100 because I was supposed to be working late shift today and planned to sleep in. Instead, phone woke me up at 0630 because the morning guy was out sick, it was only the two of us today, and there was an emergency that couldn't wait. Day two: Thighs have been killing me all day, the squats and lunges didn't seem too bad at the time but it's clearly been too long. Very much looking forward to faster recovery times as I get back in the habit. Definitely got my walking in while running around putting out fires and tried to take the stairs as much as possible on top of that. Stairs are evil. Scheduled for late shift again tomorrow but going to bed early this time. Eta- did 15 minutes on the treadmill when I got home, thought about it and decided I'd rather have my goal be 10 dedicated minutes of steady walking rather than trying to decide if I made time while doing other things. Helped stretch my legs out a little too.
