  1. Hey dood, Glad to hear your feeling better. I am also excited to hear about how you like the weight routines. I have a similar problem with my rest days. I work at a power plant, and I spend about 6 hours a day in the plant walking, climbing stairs, and turning valves. The rest of the time I’m in my office. Inside the plant it can reach 120 degrees thanks to Florida’s summer and the 2500 degree fire ball we are creating. I have been getting 8 hours of sleep each night, and that has made a huge difference. I feel much better than I used to. Are you getting enough sleep?
  2. Thanks Katz, BBQ went great. I tracked my calories and came in under 2k. Most importantly we had a blast literally. Now that my bad joke for the day is accounted for, on to the rest of my update. I Started mini challenge #3 today. I walked 1.75 miles. I did it in a new park that I have never been to before. I also have plans to visit a nature center near my home for this challenge. It has some really great looking trails from the pictures. It also has sea tanks with wildlife, a Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center, a boardwalk trail with a 40 foot observation tower, a butterfly garden, and my alma mater has a research center dealing with sea turtle hatch-lings and sharks. The more I read about this place more excited I am to go. My wife and I plan to visit it with some friends on Sunday. On a side note I have been keeping up with a few peoples threads in the adventurers guild, and reading the posts in the warriors and assassins guilds. I am trying to figure out where I would want to call home in the future. I have been enjoying my body weight routines and really dig the portability that using your body for exercise allows. I also think that parkour looks amazing, but it feels like an extremely far off goal. Also the idea of pistol squats and handstand push ups don't excited me, they just don't get me raring to go. My wife is in the warriors guild, and it also has things I like and some that are meh. I like how track-able and incremental weight lifting can be. I also like that I would walk a similar path as my wife, it is always better to have a partner. The idea of being an Olympic weight lifter doesn't jazz me up either. At the moment I think both places would make a great home for me in the long run. I will continue to monitor the guilds and myself until this challenge is over and then choose a home before the next challenge.
  3. Happy 4th to everyone. No work today so I added a little bit to my work out today. I bumped my push ups to 12 from 10. I started using 25lb for my dumbbell rows and went to 12 reps. started holding plank for 35 sec from 30. and increased jumping jacks to 45 from 30. I also added chin ups in to my routine, I can do 2 unassisted at the moment. I couldn't increase lunges or squats, they are still hard for me at sets of 20. Feels good to increase my routine, it makes me feel the progress. Almost forgot to stretch, realized it as I am typing. So I will get to that as soon as I hit submit here. Tracking my calories is still going well. Work bought me lunch again yesterday but I made choices I am happy with, and came in under 2k calories for the day. Today I am going to a friends for a BBQ. Reading Steve's post about eating right at a BBQ, and my wife and I working together we have a good plan in place. We will bring food we want to eat so we have the options we want. Logged my work out on fitocracy. I am still digging that site giving me a progress bar and levels to move through is a great motivator.
  4. I am planning on going to a nature center near my home for this challenge. It has some really great looking trails from the pictures. The more I read about this place more excited I am to go. They are closed today, we my wife and I plan to go on Sunday. To get my 5k I will go to a newly opened walking park near my home.
  5. Doing my body weight routine I try move through my exercises with no pauses, then I take a short water break in between my sets. It really gets my heart rate up doing it this way.
  6. I am back home from vacation. Things are returning to normal. I continued with my body weight work out on monday. I also completed the second mini challenge. I have also been tracking my calories; however, yesterday I made an unhealthly food choice. Work bought me lunch, so I consulted my fitness pal app to help me find something healthy. When my food arrived it had a side of fries. With them being in front of me, I ate them. I know it isn't the end of the world or anyting, but i want to make sure it dosn't continue. I figure if I tell on myself I can stop it from becoming a habit. My wife also showed me a site called fitocracy. I tried it out last night and it is pretty cool. I have been reording my work outs in an excel sheet I tossed together, but this site makes it easier. It also has some positive reinforcement, and a cool robot.
  7. Glad to see your still here, that in itself is a big deal. I have been waiting for an email telling me you posted something up.
  8. Its been great to follow your posts here. I know it has been helpful to know that you have been reading mine. There are times where I think badger will be checking this, just do the 2 more your supose to. Really helps. I also took great interest in the new post about body fat percentage. I have been using the "look" method already, with pictures of my starting self. I also have been using a scale that measures body fat percentage, but I could tell it was not that accurate. I think I am going to buy a caliper. Another way to track progress is a good thing imho, and its pretty cheap.
  9. Here is a quick update. Yesterday I did my body weight routine. With less pauses, so progress is being made. Yesterday was my wife's birthday. I did accomplish tracking my calories, but made some unhealthy food choices. I came In at 2.4k calories. I also continued my out door adventures while away on vacation. Lots of swimming, boating, paddle boading, tubing, berry picking, and we did a great 3 mile hike yesterday. It has been very fun, and it feels good to be active.
  10. Dood, grats on squats. Thoose and lunges are the points in my work outs that make me pause for a few seconds.
  11. Looking forward to hearing that lvl 3 got smashed!
  12. Another update. Following my goals while on vacation has been working out. I have tracked calories daily, and been staying under 2k. I have been doing my work outs as well. Also while being on vacation, I have had time to do some fun out door stuff. We have been swimming, walking, hiking, boating, and we even went mining yesterday. Plan to go tubing today for a nice relaxing day.
  13. iTunes can be a mess. Cleaning clutter really is a small thing that leads to big changes. I feel frazzled when my house/office/computer has stuff all over.
  14. Thanks everybody. Monday's goals went well. Got my body weight routine in. I am still having to pause during the lunges and squats. But I got through 3 sets. I tracked my calories and stayed below 2k. We went out kayaking and paddle boading. Both were fun. It's great having my wife with me, following a similar pattern. Thanks for the help everybody.
  15. I agree Katz having someone checking in really helps. Best wishes for this coming week.
  16. Rock and roll dood, it's been go to follow your challenge. Your attitude is amazing.
  17. We made the 12+ hour drive, without eating slimjims and twinkies. So that is something to be proud of. Our first day here, we went to a local farm and picked some fruit/veggies that we will use this week. We also went for a swim in the lake here. Today I am scheduled to do my body weight routine, first time trying to do it as I travel. I have also been tracking all my food intake, and have stayed under 2k calories. We have lots of out door adventures planned for our time here. Should be a fun and active week.
  18. Cool. Always nice when you can check things off the to-do list. Now the car stuff won't be on your mind.
  19. Lugging concrete around sounds like it will do the trick, and bonus of helping a bud out. Sounds like a winner
  20. Did you manage to get your oil changed? I would put off things like that forever.
  21. Dood, your progress has been inspiring. Rock on!
  22. Thanks Faerywethyr, I will try the NF one next time. Update. I have tracked my calories up through lunch, well on my way to being under 2k again today. I just finished my workout for today. I managed to complete 3 rounds of body weight routine. I still had to pause a few times during my squats and lunges, my legs have been really sore from Wednesday still. I also completed 10 minutes of stretching after my workout, lots of room for improvement on this front. My wife and I go on vacation tomorrow. We will have a 12+ hour car ride and a week away from work/home. Very exciting. Also comforting to have someone doing the same things with me. Hooray for a wingwomen.
  23. Called the dentist that my wife goes to. The office is closed, I left a message requesting a call back with an available date for an apointment. So.... I guess it counts as a win, but feels kinda anticlimactic. Oh well small steps in the right direction will get me there.
  24. Just a quick update while I have some time at work. I continued to track my calories yesterday, and came in under 2k. I also tried to find a 10 min stretching routine to do after my workout today. Found one on youtube, and gave it a go last night. If anyone can recommend a good full body streching program that takes ~10 min, I am open to suggestions. I will call today and make an appointment with the dentist. thanks to everyone for the support, it really helps
  25. I just committed to a mini challenge. I decided to get over my phobia of the dentist. I have been putting off a check up/cleaning for 5 years. This week (tomorrow) I will call and make an appointment.
