  1. Hi, I'm the CloudNerd - I'm in my mid-forties, I do have a couple kids, work in IT and I'm building up a side-business. To manage all this I need to be healthy and in good shape. So, my main-quest is to be strong and healthy. I will refine this during the next months, but one major thing will be to loose weight (15kg). I will do the first 5-week-challenge starting small to get in the routine of doing something to support my major goal. Fitness - runnig twice a week (5km) or exercise for 1hour on the crosstrainer - lifting weights twice a week. I'll use dumbbells and I will do this only for a few minutes to find out the max/ opt weight and style of exercise Diet - No sweets/ potato-chips, except on a weekly cheat-day. Level-up my life - meditate at least 5 minutes a day - read or listen to audio-books for 30 minutes a day. I'll do this anyway but I will need to be more focused to work through my reading-list on personal-development. I will take notes while reading/ listening Everything is achievable - the main time- and discipline-consuming quest will be running/ exercising on the crosstrainer. And I know it will be hard to find the time/ space to meditate without being disturbed. But I'm pretty sure that I will fell much better at the end of this iteration than I do now. Good luck to all of us!
  2. Hi, after the first week of my second Level 1 4-week-challenge, it seems to me that I do have some kind of disorder ... My main idea was to improve my health and fitness to more enjoy my life and my family and to have more energy for my side-business. Quests were I need to stop doing something work pretty well for me, stop eating sweets wasn’t a problem. Others, like using the standing desk at the office was easy for me too. But quests were I need to add something don’t work at all: I can’t establish a meditation routine of only a few minutes and I can’t start exercising - it just doesn’t work. Sometimes I just forget to do the new habits and sometimes I find excuses to not do them. Most of the time, when I get in front of my PC and dive into the matrix, I forget everything around me - it seems to be impossible to establish new routines. On other days I’m just too tired to do anything ... I appreciate any kind of help or suggestions!
  3. In the long-run, I hope to establish a routine to meditate in the mornings, but to do so I would need to go to sleep not that late, so I can get up before everyone else is getting up. And this would include to improve my sleeping-quality. I working on this but for now, I'll meditate at the lunchbreak at the office. I guess one of the upcoming 4-week challenges will include something like getting up early ...
  4. Hey @Guzzi - thank you, that is a very reasonable recommendation. Maybe I should reactivate my habitica-Account - iirc there are ways to configure habits this way.
  5. I just finished my "first time challenge" - it was not too bad, but on the one hand it wasn't too challenging and on the other hand, I had a sub-goal that I didn't accomplish. I'll keep myself in Level 1 until I get into the flow ... My main quest is still: Loose 15kg (33 Pounds) My goals/ quests for the upcoming 4-week-challenge will be: 1. Don't eat sweets or potato chips at all 2. Exercise per week: 1 x running (outside), 1x crosstrainer (at home), 1x lifting weights (at home) 3. Meditate daily for a few minutes using headspace These goals are challenging but they are achievable - and all of them will have a massive impact on my life with great results after 4 weeks.
  6. I'm doing fine with the standing-desk - I'm standing at my desk most of the time and not only one hour a day. "Sadly" I'm ony 2-3 days in the office and work from home on the other days - and I don't have a standing-desk at home. Maybe I give myself another/ similar challenge for the HomeOffice days. No candy-bars in the office worked well too. I failed at the main challenge - using the crosstrainer at least once a week. For some reasons my time-management and motivation is so bad, that I only used the crosstrainer once until now.
  7. Met all my goals for the first week! I was exercising on the Crosstrainer for 45 Minutes instead of running outside - it’s easier to manage. Maybe I’ll stay with the crosstrainer for the remaining 3 Weeks of my challenge.
  8. I still eat sweets etc on occasion but I try to get rid of a stupid routine: I used to get myself some candybars at the last hour while I‘m still in the office - especially after a busy day. And the a few more sweets while I‘m driving home: eating sweets, listening to audio-books, feeling good, getting fat ...
  9. Thanks for the comments and encouragements - this is so motivating! First week is almost over - at least the three days I'm working at the office - working from home on Wednesdays and Fridays. Working on the standing-desk was easier than expected, one or two hours is Ok, but longer will be very hard for me. Currently I don't sleep very much and very good so standing the whole day won't work. But I need to improve my sleeping-habits. Maybe it's a nice goal for the next 4-week challenge to improve sleep and use the standing desk longer. Waiving the candy-bars wasn't a problem either. I was not running yet. Probably will do it on saturday or sunday. It will take a lot of self-discipline to go running after a busy weekday - this might be the goal for the next iteration: go running two-times a week - at least one-time on a weekday. So I'm considering some or all of the following goals for the next iteration: - sleep at least 7 hours - meditate daily - no candy-bars etc at all - lift weights two times a week for 20 minutes - run 2 times a week for at least 45 minutes - use the standing desk the whole forenoon Maybe this is too much? But I will have enough time think about it.
  10. Currently not. I've been a runner a few years ago (approx 10) and I really enjoyed it - would love to find the excitement for running again.
  11. Hi, I'm a - 46y/o father of four - working 9-to-5 in IT - part-time Entrepreneur trying to push forward my online-business - Need to focus more on health to have more energy and feel better - My hobbies are: playing the (e-)guitar, watch The Walking Dead, lifehacking. I love computer-games but don't play a lot these days. I have a PS4, I started GTA and kinda like it but in my heart, I still really love the games a played when I was younger - so I'm a retro-gaming-nerd Current Main Quest: Loose 15kg (33 Pounds) SMART Goals I'll start with 3 goals that are not easy, but also not too hard to achieve, to get into the groove. 1) When I'm in the office I will turn my desk into a standing desk for at least one hour each day 2) I won't eat any candy-bars, when I'm in the office or drive home with my car 3) Go running - at least once each week for at least 45 Minutes Looking forward to great conversations and insights The CloudNerd
