    First Challenge

oh and i did manage to lose an inch from my hips and my thighs, which are usually my tougher spots to lose inches from so i'm calling that success.

    First Challenge

so challenge wrap up. For goals 1-3 I did about 70% on meeting those regularly. I drank a little more whiskey than necessary and I had a week long love affair with white chocolate macademian nut cliff bars so that was definitely not paleo. However, I did pretty good with strength training and even started personal training on Fridays and started to run again since I'm doing the colour me rad run in October. I did, however, meet my life goal of getting outside every weekend at 100%. Both me and my kiddo are happy about that!

    First Challenge

um had an epic cheat day due to unexpected detour to portland, or and the mass consumption of voodoo doughnuts. back on track!

    First Challenge

facing my first challenge of the challenge: upgrade to first class, which normally for me would equal a substantial amount of free whiskey and cokes. damn you no alcohol! sad panda. oh well, at least it's not an unusual event for me since i travel every week for work.
  6. Background Earlier this year I decided it was finally time to get serious about getting in shape. Everything went quite smoothly until July. I had a crazy July which included a switch in jobs, vacation, putting my house on the market, and my husband having emergency open heart surgery for an aneurysm (crazy!). I'm back to traveling for work (basically weekly) and I want to make sure I address the slipping back into old bad eating habits and not exercising as soon as possible. I thought a challenge would be an excellent way to get back on track. Other info - I'm 29. I have one kiddo who is 3. I finally decided that I couldn't blame my current weight issues on having had a baby around the time he turned 3. I travel for work and will be mostly relying on bodyweight exercises as I travel to several different cities throughout the month. Goals: 1. Eat strictly paleo. This means some planning on my part with traveling, but if I don't make excuses and stop being lazy, I have found I can usually accomplish this. 2. No alcohol. I LOVE beer and whiskey, but obviously that doesn't get me closer to my goals. 3. Bodyweight strength training 3x a week. 4. Plan at least 1 outside activity with my son for each weekend. With a husband on the mend and some brutal temperatures this summer I haven't been good about getting us outside. My child is basically a wild animal that requires significant outside time to maintain a good level of happy so I need to make sure we get out there more for the remainder of the summer. General plan for getting there is planning actually. I will go to grocery stores when possible while traveling. I will plan my dinner plans in advance and pick out something that qualifies as paleo before I get there so there are no bad last minute decisions. Oh alcohol... I'm just going to have to be strong on this one. And once again bodyweight strength training 3 times a week comes down to establishing a routine and planning.
  7. Madison here as well. Well, technically Belleville, but no one really knows where that is (it's about 15 min outside of Madison). I work out at Princeton right now, which is funny because most of my workouts do not include the need for equipment. I've been working on form for squats, push ups, etc. I've been doing them in a WOD format as in theory I really like Crossfit and the WOD concept and would prefer to get into more of the lifting, but Crossfit makes me way too anxious so I need to find a different venue to learn. Wow rambling! We should organize a WI meetup especially since we're having a ridiculous summer so far. If anyone else is interested, speak up. I really enjoy organizing and planning things so I'd be happy to throw some ideas out there for voting.
