  1. Hi all! I am relatively new to strength training. I am currently doing dumbell press, bicep curls, and leg lifts. I wanted to do squats and lunges as well, but I am having trouble with them causing my knees to snap and hurt just a little even if I barely go down at all and I am worried about it (stairs cause my knees to snap as well; I have had bad knees since high school). After some experimentation and suggestion from my husband, I started stretching my ankles really well before trying and that has helped a little which leads me to believe part of the problem might be that my leg muscles are too tight. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for things I could do either as alternatives to squats and lunges (I need low impact both for my knees and because we live in an apartment) or ways to help the problem like stretches or modified versions. Thanks!
