  1. I just saw this thread, and I have to commend you on starting! Ive wanted to do MA for years, but was too scared to try it for risk of failing. Well, finally at age 50 and at 225lbs (I'm female, 5'9'), I decided to not live life with regrets anymore, and go for it! Im in an awesome TKD studio with a Master and Grandmaster. Ive had 2 private lessons, and one actual class lesson, and I thought I was going to die literally. Being older, overweight, and completely out of shape, I knew this was going to be very hard. The cardio and flexibility is kicking my butt right now, but Im not giving up. I definitely feel it in all my joints, especially knees. Im so sore in my groin from stretching I can barely kick above knee level right now, lol. I do have one advantage though is that I don't look my weight due to height and build so no-one would ever assume I was as heavy as I am, and I was very athletic growing up, but I feel every part of 225 lbs. If I need a breather for a minute to catch my breath, I will ask. They are very understanding. My master says that I learn very quickly, so thats encouraging for me. Just don't give up! Its gonna be hard, but think of everything you'll gain from this. I actually cried on my last session, (I at least waited till I was out the door, lol), because Im so out of shape, and its hard!! Hang in there!!
