  1. Yes!! Point taken! Gotta set yourself up for success! Will do next time
  2. I've gained a few pounds lately for sure, but still proud that by and large I've avoided the COVID 15 and the freshman 15, all within a year of each other!! Honestly if right now I can just maintain my weight without gaining any more, I'll be happy
  3. My second challenge! I'm camping out in the Rebel forum for a while because while I want to get stronger, right now I'm just generally focused on my health and fitness Well, my first challenge went... differently than I'd imagined 😰 My goal choices were definitely idealistic and not really realistic based on what life looks like these days. I've also just been backsliding lately, cutting some corners on my nutrition goals and losing some progress, which is pretty discouraging. So I want to reset, go back to basics a little, and really make a concerted effort this month to execute my goals. I'm exercising (walking outside) regularly and consistently, and I don't really have the space/equipment/mental capacity to start strength training right now, so this challenge I'll really be honing in on my diet, which I feel like I've really been slippin' on lately. I've been considering different solutions, like maybe Noom (I know what to eat, but you know, I feel like I need a little help saying no) but for now I'm trying a wellness coach that I can meet with through my insurance plan. Hopefully this will help me with accountability without having to drop $$$ for something I probably don't really need long term (if not for 2020, online classes, and major burnout - rip). That being said, goals! Goal 1: I want to eat under 200 g of carbohydrates for 6 out of 7 days per week during the challenge Goal 2: I want to keep from eating / snacking on treats for 6 out of 7 days per week during the challenge Goal 3: I want to journal every snack I munch on, writing down the time, what I eat, and how I feel / what made me want to get a snack, daily during the challenge Goal 4 ("level up your life"): I want to meditate every day during the challenge (using the Headspace app) Let's get this bread! ...or lack thereof.
  4. Any advice at figuring out how to get more accurate inputs?
  5. Awesome! Toph is definitely the best... and the Zuko redemption arc can't be beat! A word of warning, though: DON'T watch the Percy Jackson movies!! They're super really bad and pretty much butcher the books (if you've heard of how bad the Avatar or Eragon movie adaptions were... it's worse). I would definitely recommend reading the book series (there's a lot now, but Percy Jackson and the Olympians is the og) but yea... avoid the movies at all cost ://///
  6. hey guys! i found nerd fitness when i was just googling "how to have a healthy diet" one day when i felt motivated to eat a little healthier. ever since then, i've been lurking around nerd fitness's blog posts for a while, trying out some various ideas to get healthier and lose weight. since the articles always hype up the nerd fitness forums, and everything is crazy due to covid-19, i thought i'd finally get involved! this is my first time (and i know that a new nf quest hasn't been announced yet) so i hope i'm doing this right, but i figured i'd set myself up this weekend for a quest. as a child of the 2000s, i am loving the renaissance of avatar the last airbender and percy jackson (though i'm pretty skeptical of how good the disney+ show is gonna be... still scarred from the movies tbh). i'm generally a science nerd (biology for the win!). i'm a bio major in college and watch a lot of forensic science, though it's probably too squeamish for me in real life (in terms of job prospects, so I'm not thinking of that as a career choice). did you know that a company named parabon nanolabs can take your dna and come up with a rough computer-generated sketch of what you look like, including eye color, hair color, race, and rough face shape?? both cool and real scary... i also really like to swing dance (lindy hop, specifically). i was hoping to start doing some footwork drills to improve my social dancing, but unfortunately it seems like it's going to be a long time before dancing happens again. other than that, i play viola and have resurrected my metaphorically dusty minecraft iphone app. i made a cute little world in survival with a farm, some bees, and i just got the material to start crafting potions!! it's very relaxing and fun to play around with after a hard day of sitting in zoom lecture all day :/// to be completely honest, i've been trying for a few years to lose weight. recently, i feel like i've been making significant changes in my health habits and diet (following the nf diet cheat sheet, working out, counting calories), but i haven't been seeing that progress on the scale. i'm trying not to let it get to me, because i know that a healthy lifestyle is about your habits, not just your weight (and i'm only a little overweight - probably only need to lose ~20 pounds). it's just frustrating, because according to the math, i should be seeing results, but unfortunately nothing is happening. i'm hoping that by getting involved in challenges and community and starting to level up my fitness alongside my diet, i'll start to see some results my current main quest is to lose weight. the supporting goals to achieve this main quest are 1) I want to eat less than 150 g of carbohydrates for 6 out of 7 days for the 4 weeks of the quest 2) I want to eat protein and veggies with every meal for 6 out of 7 days for the 4 weeks of the quest 3) I want to do a basic pilates program (we have a workout book I'm planning on using) T, Th, and Sat/Sun for the 4 weeks of the quest my "level up my life" quest is to improve my mental health. specifically, i want to meditate every day for the 4 weeks of the quest (using the Headspace app). I hope I organized the whole "main quest and 2-3 subquests" bit correctly. if there's any tips y'all have for organizing this better, let me know thanks guys! let me know if i did everything okay or if there's anything y'all usually do that i can add (or be in the know for next time). really excited to start connecting and joining the rebellion with all y'all!
