  1. Finished the challenge on a beach vacation. I wish I could say I met my goals but I did not. I did have a great vacation without eating too much and also got plenty of sleep. Looking forward to the next challenge.
  2. Still here. didn't manage to get a workout in last week. That is really disappointing but I am still tracking my progress everyday on my challenge. Hoping to finish out strong.
  3. Not much in savings, but I plan to do things pretty conservatively so that I don't actually leave my job until the brewery is open. At that point we should have cashflow and be able to draw some living expenses out. This weekend was a test. I ate pretty well considering the holiday. Was very active all weekend with swimming and playing with kids.
  4. Not so good yesterday. No fast food, but no veggies either. Had a date night with my wife. We went to some breweries that are in towns similar to where I want to open one. Trying to get an idea for volume. Stayed up too late reading about brewery finance and researching zoning laws.
  5. I don't see how you are going to mark camouflage off of your board. How will you see them??
  6. Yesterday was a good day. Ate a very healthy lunch, a reasonable dinner, and got my workout in. Felt better this time but still disappointing how far out of shape I have become. After the workout, I was up until about 2am dealing with various kid issues (wet bed, nightmare, leg cramps... each kid with a separate issue.) and then thinking about my brewery plans. things are starting to get a little serious there. I have a good friend with money and he is very interested in financing it. I am putting together a business plan and convincing my wife slowly that quitting my 6 figure job to make potentially nothing for a few years is a good idea.
  7. He have made it through half of 2020. Lets hope it gets better from here! I had another good day yesterday. Still no workout this week. Mowed the yard which should count for something.
  8. Yesterday I fasted during the day and ate a small dinner including raw veggies. Completed a 24 hour fast which is about the right length of time to reset for the week. Left me pretty tired so didn't workout like I really wanted to do. Met my eating goals and went to bed early, however insomnia hit again and I fell asleep around 11:15pm, but still ahead of my bedtime.
  9. I am sure it will take work. I am not sure what I am going to do. I will either stay where I am and work towards a promotion or I will leave and open a brewery that I have some people interested in financing.
  10. Yesterday I spent the morning taking the exit exam for my MBA program. I still have 8 weeks left of class but I landed in the 79th percentile on the exit exam so I think I will graduate just fine. Interested to see if having an MBA actually changes anything in my career or not. Will new opportunities come knocking or will it just be another piece of paper on the wall? It is up to me to determine the outcome. In the afternoon, I worked outside on the deck. Finished stair railings and starting the skirting. It was very hot and humid and should really count as a workout. Met all of my goals for yesterday, back in the office today ready to face the world. I have been reading a lot lately and that always puts me in a good place mentally.
  11. Hang in there. We are all rooting for you to succeed.
  12. Week 1 Down: Results Eat more veggies: 6/7 days No Fast Food: 6/7 days Workouts: 1 Bed earlier: 5/7 days, but insomnia then kept me up laying in bed 2 out of the 5 days. So far I am rally happy with this challenge. Week two requires more of the same, but moving bedtime up another 20 minutes to 11:20pm.
  13. Friday was another good day. Stuck to eating goals. Had friends over in the evening, had a lot of fun enjoying the new back yard. Was ready for bed at 11:45pm but insomnia hit and I fell asleep around 3am. I will still count it as a success, just frustrating to lay awake for over three hours.
  14. Was the keg homebrew? I really need to start more brewing. I had a run of several bad beers and haven't been motivated to try again. I used to make good beer and one of my Epic Quests is to open a brewery, so I better get brewing.
  15. Friday!!!! Another good day yesterday. Ate well, went to bed on time, no fast food. Mowed my yard which at an acre and using a walk behind mower is basically a workout. At the very least it is an 1:15 walk. Looking forward to the weekend and getting lots of projects completed around the house. I built a quarantine deck on my house, a fire pit, and tore down a fence. Have to finish up a couple of small items with those and the backyard renovation will be complete. What projects did other folks get done while "working" from home?
  16. The Miracle Morning (https://miraclemorning.com/) is a book by Hal Elrod. Essentially, it is about starting your day right by having a routine of Meditation, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, and Journaling. It can be done in about 45 minutes, and is designed to get you in the right frame of mind for the day. I used it for about a month after my arm injury to get myself out of the funk of being bed ridden for a weeks.
  17. Did my first NF Body-weight workout yesterday. Holy cow I am out of shape. Didn't realize just how bad it was until I tried to do that workout. I had a very serious arm injury last year (inspiration for my name on here) that prevented me from doing much of anything for a long time and I have been scared to try any workout for fear of pain in my wrist. But my body has deteriorated to nothing but fat. I made it through one circuit and had to call it quits. Legs were burning and was breathing like I ran a 100 yd sprint. Ate well, went to bed on time. Doing good. Just scared for how bad my muscles will hurt tomorrow. Why is it always two days after a hard workout that hurts the worst?
  18. So far the challenge has been a success. I have eaten a ton of veggies when I am eating. Haven't had any fast food and have been going to bed on schedule. Just need to get that workout in this week and I will be on track. Hopefully do that tonight.
  19. My inlaws came this past weekend. I know how you feel.
  20. Making a note here of things to do in the next challenge. 1. Stretching 2. Miracle Morning 3. Fasting 4. Workouts
  21. Last January. I need to get more strict, but I do a good job of pushing everything into my "Inbox". I need to do a weekly review more consistently, but at least i know where everything is. I use the Things app on my iphone to manage everything. I have a script running in my Outlook that updates things when I put an email into a "Saved for Action" folder. The script automatically sets a task for the email, which my task are then synced to Things and imported into Things as todos and deleted from my Outlook tasks. That way I have a single repository for my todos. I have the email saved in my folder for reference and a task in my inbox to sort. When i complete the action, I move the email into a reference folder.
  22. Have you ever read Getting Things Done. It describes an organizational system that you apply to your life. It would help as your life has changed and requires more organization now than before. I use the system loosely and it has helped me a lot. I felt like I had all kinds of things not getting done or that I was forgetting about. the system helps to organize these things and get everything you need to do into a single system.
  23. + Calorie counters suck. They worked for me when trying to lose weight because I was doing massive calorie deficits. Like 2000 calorie deficits per the math, but if I was anywhere close to even for a few days I would gain weight. Gave up on calories and now just looking to increase activity while increasing vegetables and other low calorie/nutrient dense options.
  24. Do you have a stretching routine for beginners that you follow? I am horrible non-flexible. I would be interested in your stretching routine to consider for my next challenge.
