  1. Grats!!! Still working on mine lol... Being able to even get a second in of crow pose is pretty bad ass! Look at that upper body strength work!
  2. Bikram yoga burns around a thousand calories in an hour-long session. As long as you eat enough, which I'm sure you do seeing as you're uber into crossfit, etc, you should be fine. Regarding the temperature and humidity of a Bikram studio, it's actually based on a "balmy day in Calcutta, India." So yogis have exercised under those conditions for hundreds of years...but their bodies were used to it. If you decide to try out Bikram at some point, follow your instructor's advice and "listen to your body!" If you need to recover in Child's, don't be embarrassed to. If you need a water break, by all means. Would love to know how your yoga adventure went! Keep us updated
  3. Ahahaha! Mount Washmore??! I definitely have one of those..two...three of those to work through this weekend >_< Nice work on the cleaning, yay!!! So question for ya...How did you work up to doing headstands?? Did you follow a program or a class, or did you one day decide, "Ooo! Lemme try this!" and then did it? I lurve yoga and always saw headstands as the critical leveling up point from beginner status.
  4. EXACTLY!! Well put, princess. You can definitely add this to your resume under a sort of "Additional Experience and Recognition" header. GO MIR!

  16. Oh haaaiii, nerds! This will be my 3rd challenge that I've participated in. Haven't exactly had the BEST track record with keeping up...I pretty much disappeared from the boards after I tanked the second week in the last one. Essentially, I reconnected with an old friend, who introduced me to a bunch of new friends, and they're fun and sweet DAYUM do they go out a lot! My social activity just skyrocketed to an all time high literally overnight. I loved having new experiences and trying out new places, but doing has A) left me little if any time to follow through with working out, completely ruined any semblence of a Paleo diet, and C) left me completely exhausted all the freaking time. However, this last weekend I had an AMAZING experience meeting some of my fellow rebels at the Central Texas Warrior Dash. Also, I had a doctor's visit for a sinus infection a couple weeks ago and found out that I gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks - entirely due to consistent bad diet choices, too much partying on the weekends, and hardly keeping up with my workout routine. So hot damn, between those two revelations, I'm fired up and ready to jump back in the ring. This challenge is going to be all about easing back into a healthy lifestyle, small wins, and finding a balance. 1) Balance, you say? Let's get literal... Yoga 1x a week. I miss it. I thought I'd outgrown the classes at my gym, but when you don't go for a couple months, you're back at square one. So yeah. The "How": The yoga classes at my local gym that work in my schedule are sunday morning, monday night, and tuesday night. Honestly committing to Sunday morning isn't smart because, heh, Saturday night is like right before that >.> So a Monday or Tues is probably going to be more likely. +2 DEX 2) Do it daily! This is actually a double challenge....ish. Drink recommended amount of water daily, and also take my morning vitamins. I'm terrible at buying vitamins when they're on sale and then never ever taking them. I also know that I drink WAY more coffee than water on average...I can hear you all wincing right now. The "How": No more lunch break Starbucks trips. I added up how much I spent there this past month and I almost cried. I'll have my morning brew as I get ready for work to get me that kick-start, but that's it. I bought another water bottle finally and I'll be bringing it to work. If I drink two full bottles a day, I'll have had the daily minimum. I can also keep track of how much I drink on MyFitnessPal app on my phone. Whoot! As for the vitamins, I have these great multi-vitamin packets, and I'm carrying them in my purse. No excuses! +3 CON, +1 STA 3) Rock 'n' roll, Rookie! Continue working through the Rebel Fitness Guide, Rookie level. Strength goals for the end of the 6 weeks would be to be able to do 10 regular push-ups in good form. Cardio-wise I'll be keeping up with the Bridge to 10K I started, so I'd like to be on week 7 of the program. The "How": Strength on Mon, Wedn, Friday. I will work on in the mornings when I can, especially on Friday. Morning workout means a relatively early bedtime the night before, so I am going to have to learn to say, "No thanks, I can't go tonight," or politely excuse myself from the event at a decent hour, cos you know, I might turn into a pumpkin now. Cardio: More morning madness. The sun is actually up early enough for me to go running and still have time to shower and have breakfast before going to work. I love winter! Cardio/running on Sunday, Tues, Thurs. Saturday's are recovery days! +3 STR, +3 STA 4)Bat sh*t crazy! Go spelunking. I know, this was one of my goals last time. Schedule conflicts w/ my buddy kept coming up. But its determined - I'm going in two weeks. The tickets are to be purchased on Friday once everyone has had their payday hehe. +1 STR, +2 DEX

  19. Lol! DEAL! I'll bring some to share <----Red head, braided pigtails, NF logo facepaint, wearing hot pink Vibrams and a cut off kitten shirt...total nerd.
  20. I'll be there!!! Been away from the boards for a while (goddam life and sh!t) but I'll be there on Saturday morning, bright and early! I don't have a NF t-shirt yet waaaah maybe I'll make my own haha! Can't wait to meet everyone!
  21. Week two updates (was sooo busy this week, I was hardly home for anything but sleep) Oct 5: Strength Training, ran 3.2 miles, 1100 total meters sprinted (minichallenge) Oct 6: C25k w9d1 Oct 7: C25k W9d2 (almost graduated!!) I realized today that Halloween weekend is three weeks away --- extra motivation to eat clean, work out, and slim down! The past few weeks I've gone out a lot with some new friends during the weekends, and that's throwing alcohol/mixer calories in when they're not really needed. I'm going to try to make weekend plans for the next couple weeks that don't necessarily involve bars...Good Lord >_<
  22. Heey! Great job on your diet!!! Kick-ass! Have you seen Steve's articles on push-ups? Check it out, maybe it will help you out! Clickie. Scroll down to the about the video and you can read about how to build up to doing a regular one Keep updating, can't wait to see you progress!
  23. Strength training: CHECK! Went to the actual gym today for strength and hopped over to the weight room. Got lots of strange stares...dunno if that's cos I was the only girl there or because I was wearing a pastel purple cut-off muscle tee with 10 kittens on it...prolly a little of both Spent the day at a fibers workshop for work, and breakfast and lunch was provided by the hosting hotel. I tried, I really tried....until dessert, and I was undone by a 1/2 cup of fresh mascarpone D:< Damn it, Whole30 is freakin hard. I hate obsessing over food in a negative way, which I feel the Whole30 is making me do. It reminds me of highschool, when I struggled w/ food and appearance - uber restricting/fasting/binge eating/purging because of stupid competitions with my friends. I was hoping Whole30 would be an enlightening, rewarding, Zen experience, but if I find myself slipping into obsessing unhealthily over what I eat and beating myself up about it, I'm not above cancelling that part of my challenge. b: banana, americano w/ cinnamon s: mint tea l: grilled chicken breast w/ peach salsa, salad w/ lemon juice and tomatoes, steamed chinese broc and kale, 1/2 cup mascarpone, black coffee s: trailmix ( m&ms included ) d: paleo taco salad
