  1. The heroes rising page said it was a game/tracking app. Handy dandy!
  2. Walked 3.6 miles in an hour. That puts me in Frodo's second day! Lol Paused at the park for 3 sets of 10 incline pushups at a picnic table. 5 negative chin-ups once home. Rawr.
  3. Heya, Laney! Thanks! I'm stoked. I'm going to talk to my friend about what reasonable goals would be, because I'm a complete n00b when it comes to strength training! I've always been that girl spending 30 minutes on the stair master followed another 30 on the elliptical But I'd really like to be able to do a dead hang chin up by the end of the year, haha!
  4. Cheers to accountability. Yoga: 1 hr. Deep hip openers, practiced shoulder stands assisted by wall. Walking: 3.84 mi covered in 49 minutes. Note to self, do not go outside before 7 PM - WAY TOO HOT. On Wednesday my buddy, who used to train women in strength training back in the day, is going to show me how to properly weight train. Whoo! He's got a garage gym full of Olympic weights. I can't wait!
  5. Joined! +1 for fashion design!
  6. Hey! Any nerdettes in the North Texas/DFW area interested in creating a Nerd Fitness team for the Dirty Girl Mud Run in October? It's a non-competitive, all-female, all-mud 5k obstacle course set for Oct. 6, 2012. Registration is currently $65 but rises after August 4th. Website here: http://www.godirtygirl.com/
  7. Thanks, girlie! I'm working on making the Etsy shop anyway because I haven't heard anything from my buddy and I want to check something off my list lol. Will definitely send you a link when it's live Thanks for the suggestion about work snacks, too. I know I shouldn't be eating sweets everyday but I don't want to call attention to myself or a be a spoil sport by being the only one not participating in the baby shower/birthday/first day/last day/TGIF/humpday festivities.

  9. Haha, World of Lifecraft, I got a serious chuckle out of that Great list, lots of variety! Good luck and stay motivated!
  10. Mmmm frozen grapes are a great treat...Like mini popsicles Welcome, Ianthe! Glad you're here with us! Yes, fruit that is in season means stores have a BUNCH of stock, so they put it on sale so it will get bought up! This summer I've found 2lb boxes of strawberries at Kroger for $1.50 - dirt cheap! So keep your eyes peeled. Kiwis are in season too, and at 4/$1 I eat em every day
  11. So I set my goals, then proceeded to pretty much forget about them or brush them off. Bad! They were: 1) Go to Yoga 2x a week. (+4 STR) 2) do cardio 3x a week. (+5 STA) 3) Don't snack on the goodies at work. (+3 CON) 4) Set up my Etsy shop. (+3 WIS) For the weeks of the 8th and 15th I failed so miserably. I could waste time and energy explaining why I failed and blaming certain events, but I won't because, well, I don't want to waste YOUR time either. Anyway, made a major change today, though, which I'm proud of. After reading Steve's latest blog post (on walking to mordor lol) I was so inspired, I couldn't wait to get home from work and go for an adventure. I didn't stray too far from home, but I took the dog for a brisk walk for an hour, clocked almost 5 miles, and when I came back I felt so good that I immediately jumped in the car and went to the yoga class I've been meaning to get to for five weeks >_> But yaaay me! I'll feel it in the morning. Burn, baby, burn! Also, today I did not snack on office goodies. Let me tell ya about my work. I work in a menswear design studio with about 15 other women. Women love chocolate, and women love bread. It must be in our genetics. Anyway, hardly a day goes by in the week when someone doesn't bring something incredibly tempting and delicious to share with the group: Einstein bagels and cream cheese, cake, Godiva chocolate biscuits, cake, rice crispie treats, did I mention cake? So hard to say no. If we weren't all trying to be healthy, I'd tell you to be jealous. I know it will catch up with me, and quickly, so that's why that is one of my goals...the one I struggle with the most lol. And finally, news for Etsy shop. Instead of Etsy, I might actually have the opportunity to have my jewelry sold at the metaphysical store in town. A buddy of mine is working it out, so hopefully I'll hear back before this challenge is over
  12. Well hey there. My name's Manon. I'm 23 years old in Texas working in an apparel design company in Dallas. I'm in a huge lifestyle shift: after years of half-heartedly following fad diets and whining about working out, I realized I was hurting my body and my health more than helping it, and my research led me to Paleo (yay!). I've been eating an exercising Paleo-style for about a month now and feel amazing. My energy is way up, I've lost 8 pounds, my skin (generally spotty) is almost completely cleared up, and my ambition and determination to continue this "high" is going strong. I found NerdFitness and fell in love with the articles and mindset (I was...well, actually still am, a huge WoW and Elderscrolls enthusiast), so even though this challenge started a couple weeks ago, I thought I'd throw in my lot for fun Starting weight: 152 lbs Race: Nord Class: Adventurer STR: 1 DEX: 2 STA: 2 CON: 3 WIS: 4 CHA: 3 Goals: 1. Do not snack at work My managers love to feed the design team. I suppose it's in the effort to raise moral. Who doesn't love surprise Einstein bagels in the morning, or take a group ice cream break in the middle of the afternoon? I follow a strict Paleo meal plan (paleoplan.com) that has been working out great for me, so I don't want to sabotage my efforts with poundcake one day and cookies the next, etc. Must...resist... 2. Go to yoga 2x/week I love yoga. I love the way it makes me feel during and afterwards. I know it's great for me. But I make excuses to miss my classes by being "too tired" after work. I need to buck up and fit at least two classes in a week. 3. Do 30 min of cardio 3x/week For help with weight loss. I've been trying to pick up running, doing the whole C25K app, but doing that any earlier than 8:30 pm in the Texas heat right now can get dangerous. So if I know I can't get out that late, I should just take a trip to the gym and run the treadmill in an air conditioned environment. 4. Open an Etsy shop I'm an artsy crafty person by nature, and it's been my goal since the beginning of the year to finally start a shop on Etsy.com where I can sell my products instead of just having them be expensive time-consuming projects that sit around gathering dust once they're finished. Welp, that's about it! Looking forward to meeting fellow peeps actively pursuing their goals!
