  1. Thank you all, you have no idea how touching it is even for just three 'random' people on the internet to support me like this. I find it very humbling and touching; thank you all. I look forward to interacting more with this amazing community.
  2. Greetings fellow Rebels, While I may not be 'new' here, I am re-affirming myself to The Rebellion. As the rules state, it doesn't matter where I'm coming from, only where I'm going. Since I've been around a bit before, I kind of know how things work, but it has been a while since I was last here. I (today) finished reading Level Up Your Life and I realised that I needed to rejoin my fellow rebels in order to achieve my goals. My main goal is, in the broadest sense, restoring my life. For a while now I've been battling my own personal "dragon" of an Eating Disorder (Anorexia Nervosa). Admitting that to a website full of strangers is a rather daunting thing, but it carries a sense of catharsis. I am currently in treatment for it, but I've only just begun my journey to slay it. At the moment, I can't really set up my own Epic Quest, because I have no idea what lies beyond this first dragon that I need to conquer. Once I have slain the first dragon I'm super excited to see what lies in the next dungeon; beyond the next hill; and over the wide blue sea. In all seriousness I am looking forward to being able to set up my own Epic Quest - I've already started thinking of my to-do list as my "Quest Log". I am hoping that by rejoining The Rebellion I'll be able to start to build my Jedi Council. Live long and prosper, Dresirus
  3. By pure coincidence (I forgot to check the boards for a few days, oops) I have been on three walks over the last three days. #1 Evening walk around a bit of the village/small town where I live. I must say, I didn't really notice much, except that someone has planted a rather nice flower garden near a set of traffic lights. #2 Walked to the opticians to get my glasses fixed, managed to knock one of the little pads off the bridge of them. I noticed that it was rather hot in the opticians, and that they had a new desk for the receptionist. #3 5.5 mile walk in the countryside a half hours drive away. Apparently it was one of the places that Tolkien got his inspiration from. There was a Shireburn pub and Butterbur plants, along with some lovely fields, a great section of walk by a river and some small forested areas too.
  4. Hi everyone, I only recently broke my silence on the boards with my intro post here. I've decided that now is a great time for me to take up a challenge, seeing as I am currently on my summer break from uni. I mention some goals in my intro thread, however they are more long-term goals, and wouldn't really apply to a six week challenge. Starting Stats (RL): Male Age: 19 Height: 5'7" Weight: ~136lbs (~62kg) BF%: ~9% [i think, based off rough measurements (don't own a set of callipers)] Starting Stats (RPG): Tiste Andii Assassin (I bear no resemblance to a Tiste Andii, they are just cool) STR: 4 STA: 1 CON: 3 WIS: 4 CHA: 3 Exercise/Diet Goals: Be able to do 75 push-ups in a single set. As I mention in my intro I've been following the 100 push-ups plan, but I've been stuck on week 5 day 1 (middle column) for well over a month now (can't complete without needing to take a couple of breaks in the last two sets.) So this is a big goal for me. +2 STR, +3STA Be able to do 10 pull-ups in a single set. I'm currently on 6 (with poor form on the last two) so I think this is something I can really improve on. +2STR, +2STA Stick to a primal diet as much as possible. The exception I will make is breakfast, I like a bowl of oatbran porridge. (Is it a poor idea to carry on eating porridge? If anything, I feel it will help me to bulk up a bit more, but I leave judgments to you guys, you are a lot more knowledgeable than I am.) I fear this challenge may not go too well as I am off to a four day LAN event at the end of the month (any advice on how to stay primal would be greatly appreciated.) +3CON Life Goal: Practice speed reading for at least half an hour a day. This should hopefully have a lot of benefits and help immensely when I get back to uni for my second year. +3WIS It seems that my first challenge was to sign up for a challenge. I have found it quite "scary" posting my goals, as I know that I wont be the only person keeping me accountable for them, you will be too. Usually if I decide to do something I will start it with a ferocious zeal and slowly it erodes away.
  5. Hi everyone, I have finally decided to post on these boards after spending far too long lurking on them. (I first discovered NF about two years ago, and the boards about six months ago.) I'm no great storyteller, but here are some details about me: Male Age: 19 Height: 5'7" Weight: ~136lbs (~62kg) BF%: ~9% [i think, based off rough measurements (don't own a set of callipers)] I'm from the UK and about to start my second year at university, studying Chemistry. I really want to improve my overall endurance, and overall strength. I am currently exercising roughly three times a week, doing body weight exercises. I'm working through the hundred pushups exercises (although I seem to have plateaued on a particular exercise, and have not improved for a month or so now). The only other exercise I do, in addition to bodyweight routines, is play Quidditch (well, it is Nerd Fitness for a reason ) when I'm at uni. I feel that my main problem is that I can sprint in very short bursts, but get very tired, very quickly (could have something to do with asthma that I've had since I was a lot younger, but I don't really consider it to be that bad, it is probably just a lack of fitness.) I recently started to try and follow a paleo/primal (not sure where the difference lies) diet, a week in, and I feel I have less energy and feel more tired than I had before . If I had to set goals for myself I would say that I want to: -Perform 100 pushups in a single set. (I can currently do about 50) -Perform 10 pullups in a single set. (I'm currently on 6, but that hasn't changed for a while) -Start learning a martial art. I don't really know what to choose though. My uni has some clubs associated with it (posting in the Monk section should hopefully give me some ideas). -Improve my general fitness. (Adding specificity, I would say, play a game of Quidditch without getting as worn out as I currently do) Thank you to anyone who has taken the time to read all of this. I seem to become shy online for some reason, and so am usually reluctant to post, but the help and advice offered by the NF community are something too great to miss out on. Dresirus
