  1. I actually considered the thru-hike as well but I am not gonna leave my kids behind to do it at this point. I definitely understand the momentum that you are describing and it's a valid point. There are tons of articles about the Biggest Loser contestants who put the weight right back on because they couldn't keep that momentum. At the same time I just find the idea nice to have a month where the only thing I really need to worry about is taking care of my body. I just don't know if I have the creativity to actually have a plan in place. (P.S. on the momentum thing I have joined a CrossFit studio so I will have something to kick my butt on the regular)

  2. Hey there Rebels,

my work is very flexible and has the availabilities of what is essentially a Sabbatical (take time off of work voluntarily to do whatever needs to be done). I was considering taking a full month off to focus on fitness and nutrition but wanted to have a plan beforehand so I don't sit on the couch eating potato chip while watching fitness videos as my plan. With that said if you could set up a month long fitness journey where fitness and nutrition is your only focus what kind of things would you focus on? Ideas that I had include the following.

Hire a trainer to plan everything and hit it hard in the Gym under their instruction.

Skip the trainer but hire a nutritionist for that half and then join a martial arts studio.

Same as above but instead of martial arts head for the hills and hike everyday all day.

I also chuckled at the idea of looking to see if there are any reality shows to join that could work on these things (I am not overweight enough to go on something like Biggest Loser but I would need several of these months before I could do something like Ninja Warrior)

Skip the nutritionist and trainer entirely and just learn a new sport/skill and train in it till you feel like passing out

Even if it's not my cup of tea what kind of dreams would you have if you could skip out of work for a month just to have an amazing fitness journey?

  3. +1 to the respawn of the group! If anyone in the Utah area wants an accountabilibuddy I am in the Layton area. I know Corona kinda messes up physical meet ups but we gotta know each other before we can organize anything.

  4. I jumped on the forums a little bit ago and was gungho to get started on my battle logs and go crazy... Then I got really sick on the first planned day, bad enough that I went to get COVID tested but thankfully it came back negative. Now that I am feeling marginally better I feel it is time to kick this off. With baby steps that is. My overall dream is set at Ninja Warrior but the first baby steps to report is that this morning when I took the doggo for a walk I took a different path which extended the walk to be about 10 minutes longer. Not a huge difference in my exercise but since I didn't go at all for about a week I count that as a major success for still being in recovery.

  5. So I found this YouTube channel a while back that I first thought was a joke but then realized it really wasn't. The whole idea is it is the Video Game Fitness Program. It isn't a full exercise program but I looked at it and started thinking it would be a good way to associate playing video games with doing squats/exercise. I suggest giving it a quick glance but then I was wondering if anyone wants to try a multiplayer game with me? I tried doing it solo in the past but found it hard to not just sit down and enjoy the game but I figure doing it while talking to someone could help to make the game enjoyable as well as actually doing the exercises.

  6. New to the forums and I have been poking my head around and I have a question that I thought might be worth a little discussion here. The topic is body hair. I know in specific sports like swimming and body building any and all hair is removed but what are some of your thoughts? Take pride in a manly mane of a hairy chest? Smooth things out across certain parts of the body? Wax it all? Or leave it all?

  7. Hey everyone Saucicus here trying to get started with a personal revolution. I am a nerd with a wide variety of fandoms (really it's what's the flavor of the month, currently it's the Warhammer Universe and Age of Sigmar.) I have never been in "bad" physical shape but a number of recent events both positive and negative have made me decide it is time to make a lasting change. Since I try to focus on the positive as much as possible I put up the quote that made me take a step back and contemplate this change. Just starting out and will need to do a challenge (maybe two) before officially joining a guild but I am leaning towards the Assassin's or the Warriors (I love the idea of the results from the Warrior challenges but not sure I can handle the monotony of continuous weight training) Looking forward to working with all of you and if there is anyone in the Utah area and need a sidekick here's my application 😎
