  1. My sleep schedule is the same but the hours I sleep is always different due to having a seizure disorder and insomnia (side effect from my medications). It's frustrating at times.
  2. I was told by others that it's impossible for me to build muscle because I'm sleeping under 7 hours. I do eat enough protein for someone at my height and weight but some days I don't eat enough so I get a little worried. I feel relieved after you told me this. Thank you.
  3. I know that 7-9 hours of sleep is needed to build muscle, however, this is somewhat of an issue for me because I have epilepsy. The longest time I usually sleep is 6.5 hours. Sometimes I sleep 7-8 hours or don't sleep at all due to cluster seizures. Can I still build muscle from 6.5 hours of sleep?
  4. Ah, I overlooked this lol... Anyway, hello everyone. My name is Jenna and I'm from Seoul. I moved to here from another forum after getting banned for telling others to get back on topic on threads started by myself (sounds dumb right?). My goal in fitness is to lower my body fat percentage and change the way I feel and see myself. I was born with a condition that causes mobility impairment in your body and this greatly depressed me. For most of my life, I mostly ate junk foods because it helped manage my depression. Over time, I started having a lot of health problems which at the time I brushed it off as nothing but a couple years ago, I had a scary incident and this helped me realize the damage I was doing to myself physically and mentally. Since then, I've been making gradual changes and seeing many improvements. I hope to learn more during my time here.
  5. Is it normal to feel sore after you work out? After my workout yesterday, my arms started to feel a little sore. How long does this soreness last? Can I continue working out or should I take a break until it passes?
  6. I'm 31 years old. I live with my parents due to my situation.
  7. My parents thought the same way since every appointment is 10-15 minutes long which is too short. I take four medications per day so the time length should be longer. The only time it's long is when a student from a medical school is with them and goes into full detail about my situation which makes no sense to me. Anyway, I hope so too.
  8. I'm not sure how many sets and reps I should do to build muscle and increase endurance. I do strength training (bodyweight exercises) every week for 60-90 minutes. There are some that I don't do such as squats, lunges and burpees and the reason is because I have mobility impairment from a condition I was born with. I can do most by myself or with someone assisting me.
  9. At my last appointment when I ask about "diet coach", they just brushed it off like it was nothing. They do know some dietarian but didn't give me their names which baffled me and my parents. I plan on changing my neurologist and find someone closer in my area so I don't have to drive 45 minutes up north. I can't stand my current one. They keep pushing me on getting brain surgery. Keep changing the dose on my medications. Sign me up for study cases on new medications without my consent. It's ridiculous and all they want is nothing but money without thinking about my well-being and improving my lifestyle.
  10. For the past month or so, I've been trying to decide who to consult for help with establishing a diet plan for me. I have a seizure disorder and tried the keto diet (recommended by my neurologist) but it caused my seizures to go haywire. Should I see a nutritionist or a dietitian? I don't know which one would benefit me.
