  1. 10 days later (ish) back to make an update. Covid has finally just about fully left the building! I still have a small annoying cough, but that's the only lingering effect so I'll take it. My Spanish class ends this coming week, and I've maintained that 98-99 range. I'm both proud of myself and a little concerned about how it will affect my goal setting skills for future language classes, but that's a problem for future J. I haven't been reading as much, but a lot of that is because I'm teaching 5 separate novels to my 8th graders right now, which puts reading a little on the back burner. I did just pick up a new book though that I am excited to read, so maybe that will help me get back into my groove. My stamina is still not great, but I'm trying to find more and more reasons to get up and move throughout the day. Husband and I in the process of trying to adopt a dog, so I am seeing a lot of walks in my future (which is not a bad thing at all). Hope you all have a great weekend and coming week!
  2. Hello! I exist! I seem to have really turned a corner. I've been nailing the Spanish, and currently have a 99.8 in the class I'm taking. My confidence is much higher in the language as well. Reading has been going ok. My brain gets tired a lot faster than it usually does, but I've been reading fanfiction since it's easier to digest so I'll give myself the credit. I had enough energy to clean yesterday! It definitely gave me a run for my money but it got done (thank goodness). Husband surprised me with RingFit adventures this morning. I played through the tutorial+two levels (a total of about 15 min) and worked up a pretty good sweat. It was nice to feel like I actually did something that could be titled as "exercise".
  3. Hello, I'm alive. Covid has some real hands, but I'm definitely keeping up my end of the fight. I've been nailing Spanish (mostly because I'm in an accelerated course and need to do 1-2 hours of work per day to stay on track). I'm actually really impressed with how much I'm picking up. It's been a while since I've taken a language course. Reading has also been going well. Finished my first book of 2021 (Level up your life) within the first 4 days, and I'm halfway through my second book now. Standing is exercise with Covid. That's all.
  4. Hard mode- Covid positive. Keeping the reading stat in for sure. Changing walking outside to walking indoors for 30 min throughout the day. Adding in a Spanish language challenge (work on coursework- taking a class for Professional development) for 30 min daily.
  5. Hello! I was so excited to officially start today, only to be critically hit last night. I've been being treated for what I thought was a sinus infection for the last week or so, only to realize I no longer have my smell and taste. So I'll be getting tested tomorrow morning. I am still aiming to dance 2x a week in the morning and read. Walking may still take the backburner, but I'll ease into it once I am no longer in the throws of potential Covid sinkholes. If anything, I'll try to be more active on here anyway. Good luck to everyone, and thanks for the kind messages! J
  6. To say that I am a long time lurker would be the understatement of the year, and that's saying something considering the year that it has been. I'm J, I've been an off-and-on NF lurker since about 2015, and I am finally ready to inch into the sunlight to make real changes to my lifestyle. I have been battling against my body and health for the last 5 years which has been a disheartening and frustrating journey. It felt like for every step forward, the chains around my ankles became heaver and heavier (literally...I am now at the heaviest BW that I have ever been). I am tired of looking in the mirror and wanting to hide in the dungeon. I am ready to start my training montage and become the challenger that I used to see before my personal dragons scared them away. I recently (going on 3.5 weeks) made the switch to follow a plant based diet (90% of the time at least- on off days I am still vegetarian) and that has made all the difference in the world in terms of my energy levels. I now feel like I have the ability to do more than survive, hence the willingness to join my first challenge. With that said, my goals for my Level 0 Challenge are: Fitness: Walk for 10-15 minutes after dinner 2x per week. -This will be a dragon due to mild-moderate levels of social anxiety. I lose motivation when I don't have a partner to go with, but I am fairly invested in the ZR storyline, so hopefully that will help. Fitness: Dance 1-2 Fitness Marshall dance videos before teaching 2 mornings per week. -I danced for 18 years and to say that I miss it is like holding a fish above a pond and asking if it can breathe. Mornings are hard to get me going, so I am hoping that by adding in an activity that I enjoy, I can build the habit of moving in the mornings. Lifestyle: Read 10 minutes before going to bed. -I am an 8th grade English teacher who has forgotten the love of reading. I know that I enjoy it, but I don't make it a priority. I am hoping to start knocking out the use of tech before bed by replacing it with something that I know that I love.
