  1. Either jump then descend, or stand on something then step off it and descend slowly.
  2. Very, noticed your thread. You're not that far away to be honest. That elusive last part left.
  3. Keep it up milythael, very impressive. When I was 262lbs I couldn't get out of the bottom dead hang position.
  4. Did another one today (had to make sure I wasn't imagining it)
  5. So I'm the only leftie at the moment.
  6. I don't do weights but I know that some routines have to do say 8 reps of x lbs then after that 8 of x-10 lbs e.t.c. I assume with their mirror vanity they have them around so people who walk in think they started their workout with 70 lb dumbells. They probably stare at you because you're actually working out and getting sweaty, which will put off women at the gym from talking to you. You go there to workout, clearly you're some sort of weirdo
  7. Awesome, handstand push up is on my to do list for the future. How've you been working towards it if you don't mind me asking?
  8. ... I got a pull up. One pull up. I'm so chuffed, 3 and a half weeks ago I couldn't get out of the dead hang position. I've been doing the 50 pull ups program so just doing negatives. I'd noticed my negatives improved considerably, tried a chin up (couldn't do one of these 3 weeks ago either but used to be able to do one or two when in my teens) and got one so figured what the hell I'll give it a go. I've never been able to do a pull up before, ever. Now to progress to more....
  9. I'm no expert but I'd say play it by ear. Listen to your body.
  10. I started with CC in January (beginner to strength training - never done anything to be honest; push ups and leg raises e.t.c. for Karate but nothing with the sole goal of getting stronger, also had kind of let myself go at that point!) I like the progressions and I'm not doing bridging or handstand stuff yet (don't think I'm strong enough). I'm not fussed on the one arm handstand crap (if Jim from Beastskills can't do it I doubt I'll ever be able to) but I like where I'm headed. Just wondering what made you change? I like the look of overcoming gravity (I read the eat, move, improve blog) as it has other things I'd eventually like to work towards such as the planche. My main concern is the lack of leg work - what did you do with it when following overcoming gravity? Building the Gymnastic Body looks great too, but I'm one of those people who likes to have a physical copy of the book and living in the UK I'd have to pay the cost of the book again in postage to get a hardcopy Interesting idea, where does he outline it? In starting strength?
  11. Welcome to NF Saoirse. Even if your title makes you sound like you're new to primal and I know from MDA you're not.
  12. Hey Bop! Welcome to NF You don't need a gym membership at all if you don't want to, Steve has some great bodyweight only exercises you can do to build up your base strength then in the new year if you want you can get one when they're cheap round to to hit that weight room. If bodyweight squats are too tough try supported squats and build up until you can do them unassisted.
  13. Hey Sherman, welcome to the fray. I used to be like that, putting in effort for a bit and then lose motivation. I found for me it was catch 22 situation though, being fat meant I didn't feel like exercising, felt like I had no energy e.t.c. Last july I started cleaning up my diet (getting rid of a lot of the crap) and exercising and the more weight I've lost and the fitter I've got the easier and more fun exercising has been. I'm afraid the early stages you just have to suck it up, use the support from here and if you have a shit day, you have a shit day. Don't beat yourself up about it just jump on the horse again tomorrow (don't do what I did for so many years, well I ate like crap yesterday so it doesn't matter if I do the same today, I'll start getting fit again tomorrow - I kept putting it off and obviously got nowhere). Not sure if you're trying to lose weight or just get fitter, you do mention weight creeping back up. If you're trying to lose weight 80-90% of that is diet, not exercise. Not that exercise isn't important. Looking forward to seeing you progress.
  14. Agree completely with CBad, I eat them just don't go nuts with them.
  15. They look good, thanks for the link to homemade strength, never seen that before.
