I did better on week zero! This week I'm spending all my free time prepping/packing for camp, and cleaning up the house so we don't come home to a disaster after. I'll wait and update on Sunday, but I intend to get my steps every day for the rest of the week!

I normally speed up the more I'm walking, so that's not something I'm going to actively pursue up front. I reserve the right to reevaluate and include intervals in my goals in a few weeks. Thanks for asking!

Should have mentioned that I intend to use this like a journal. Also, my name was taken which leads me to believe I may have signed up for the forums in the past, but on Facebook I'm Melanie Fleming, in case I have friends here! I'm also looking to track my food intake (on myfitnesspal) but I'm concerned about trying to do too much here. Something like 10K steps a day is something I can easily measure, so I'm going to start with that.

For the last four years, I've started a quest of accumulating medals after walking (sometimes jogging) 5Ks and 10Ks. I've recently decided to take a leap of faith and sign up for my first half marathon in November. Coincidentally, I'm currently part of a work fitness challenge where I get points for walking at least 6,000-10,000 steps each day over the next 6 weeks. Over the coming weeks, my goal is to hit that 10K per day target, and improve my walking speed. My baseline over the last two days has been 19:42 per mile which would put me at a 4 hour 24 minute half marathon, so I'd love to see that shorten after some consistent training.
