  1. Day 6 - Not counting bed time as it's the weekend - for the record the wife and I were in bed shortly after 11 because we're old. Up at 6 and got just shy of 3km walking in though! GET OUT OF BED - 6/?? We are slowly trying to layer in other supplemental habits to help with better sleep and lifestyle in general - increasing protein intake and adding more fiber / veggies. Junkfood still beckons but we're tapering down! Mostly! In nerd hobby related news - we did our "mid campaign" big battle in Necromunda this week. The arbitrator came up with a "exploring the depths when all of a sudden, zombies!" type scenario where we had to make a mad dash to an elevator to escape. 4 of the 7 gangs in our campaign participated and unfortunately all but 1 of my gang did not make it to the elevator! This + some very comically bad post game roles resulted in a bunch of dead dudes. Was pretty funny as it played out and my fate got progressively worse (why do I only roll 6's when it's bad?!?!) Anyway I was given some mercy and am excited about some of the games to be had the back half of this campaign. Using the mid campaign break this week to assemble new minis to replace some of the dead guys, and maybe even progress on painting somewhat. No promises lol. Going on a date type night with my wife and enjoying the great weather today. Hope everyone else has an acceptable weekend!
  2. Day 4 (and 5) Got distracted and missed posting yesterday. Have been slacking a bit on getting to bed on time the last two nights, kinda putting myself in a bad spot given I only have 5 days of leeway to hit my goal and I've already used 3. Need to dial it in a bit better going forward so this doesn't blow up in my face. Still getting up on time but working on getting out of bed a bit faster (ie on alarm #1 instead of alarm #3). Anyway it's Friday so that's gotta count for something, right?! GO TO BED - 2/20 GET OUT OF BED - 5/?? Have an awesome and totally not haunted or evil Friday the 13th.
  3. Oh no, now I have to do it! I play Van Saar and have a whole whack of minis in various states of grey plastic / grey plastic with primer on it. So I really should pick one and try to finish it. No promises on quality though lol.
  4. Day 3. Got to bed on time last night and slept fine - minus child #2 weaseling her way into bed AGAIN in the middle of the night. Progress: GO TO BED - 2/20 (and actually fell asleep reasonably fast!) GET OUT OF BED - 3/?? Awake before the alarm somehow and wasn't too bed to get out of bed. Nice weather finally being here is a big help (3 day streak!) Just walked a bit over 2km and will aim to get out again a bit later today with my wife. Have a fantastic day everyone!
  5. Hello fellow daily walker who gets bummed out! I like to think of it as points on a graph - it can go up and down but the goal is to trend upwards over time. Way to reflect and keep moving forward!
  6. Day 2! Was extremely tired for no discernable reason last night and ended up in bed at 930pm. Work is nuts, kids are nuts and the world is on fire.... BUT. Here we go anyway Progress: GO TO BED - 1/20 days hit GET OUT OF BED - 2/?? days hit (2 day streak!) No walk yet today, will be taking care of that a bit later today. Trying to increase my daily distance from ~1-2km up to 3-5km in order to get back in line with what is needed to hit my (non challenge tracked) goal of walking 1000km this year. Hope everyone is having as good a day as possible!

  8. Hello to the Rebellion! I'm Vedge - a 36 year old nerd working in IT/Security. I am trying to get my butt back on track after a few years in the wild. I am trying to keep this simple so I can build this habit and at the same time begin to immerse myself in this community (Have followed NF for a long time and used to read the blog regularly - looking forward to picking up the torch again!). I really enjoyed the book "The Power of Habit" and like the idea of keystone habits. So my goal/experiment for this challenge will be entirely on getting to bed and getting up early and building up my sleep habit. The Goal GO TO BED! in bed by 11pm Eastern every night. Weekends and special occasions to be assessed case by case, but the stated goal here will be to be fully ready and in bed by 2300 at least 20 of the 25 non weekend days in the next 5 weeks. GET OUT OF BED! My first alarm is set for 5:50am. I go on a daily walk and when I get up in time to get a decent walk in and have some alone time before my family starts to wake up, it is usually the best possible start for a good and productive day and really helps my mental health when it happens for an extended period. The stated goal here is to get up at this time AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE. Would love to hit a streak here and continue it as long as possible. Side Quest Type Shit Lose 10lb +1xp Finish an audio / print book +1xp Fully paint a Necromunda Miniature +1xp Walk 11k or more at once +2xp Do some sort of workout +2xp Okay. That's it! Really excited to be here and to push forward alongside fellow travelers! Go get it everyone!
