1. So, I haven't been the greatest with checking in. Overall, I could have performed better with my challenge. I didn't always stick to my workouts and diet, but I did keep up with everything about 70% of the time. The results are in: Weight: 138 lbs Body fat %: 26.1% Neck: 13 in Shoulders: 38.5 in Chest: 35 in Bicep: right bicep: 11.75 in left bicep: 11 in Waist: 29 in Hips: 39.5 in Thighs: right thigh: 23.5 in left thigh: 23 in Next time, I'll be sure to stick to my plan even more rigorously because although I gained a little weight, my measurements in my fatty bits are going down!
2. All right. A weekly check in is in order. I completed all my fitness goals this week, but failed at my diet goal. I don't think I realized how many meals I eat out per week! This week I ate out about 5 meals instead of the 1 I was aiming for. Will do better this week. Weight's gone down. I weighed 136.4lbs this morning, so that's always nice. I'll be measuring myself at the end of the challenge so weight is the only update I'll have for a while.
3. Stealing your Lift, Move, Eat, Live breakdown. It's genius!
4. Went swimming this morning for 30 minutes. Off to a solid start. I didn't mention this yesterday, but my overall goal is to get to a good place in terms of physical strength in order to learn how to surf come October. When you live in South Florida, you wait for the end of hurricane season for the winds to kick up a bit. I want to actually learn, and not have to worry about not having enough strength to push myself up on the board. As promised: Weight: 137.2 lbs Body fat %: 30.3% Neck: 13 in Shoulders: 39 in Chest: 34.5 in Bicep: right bicep: 11 in left bicep: 11 in Waist: 29.5 in Hips: 40 in Thighs: right thigh: 24 in left thigh: 24 in And seeing as I'm a graphic designer, I feel almost obligated to leave with you with some visual workout inspiration. Today is arms and shoulders (I love Starbuck):
5. Here we go. I'm going to keep things simple here: Lift: Complete Rebel Strength Guide Body Brigade workouts 3x per week Move: Swim 30 minutes 2x per week Eat: Eat out at most once per week Live: Complete one graphic design project that I can add to my portfolio. I track my food using the Weight Watchers method already, so I'll keep doing that. I did do my workout this morning, but didn't write everything down. I'll update my weight and measurements tomorrow.
6. Hi gang! I've started doing some body weight training and I have a push up conundrum. I can do about 5 push ups going half way down to the floor right now (legs straight, not on my knees). Is this all right in terms of building up strength? I try to lower myself as much as possible every time I do a push up. Should I be focusing on completing a full push up from the get go, even if it means completing maybe only 1 or 2 push ups per set? Thanks! Nadia
7. Hi Azeris! Miami girls will do that you Looking forward to seeing your progress. Maybe we can one day organize a Miami meet up! Nadia
8. Hey Danny! I'm a newbie from Miami as well! My intro: http://www.nerdfitness.com/community/showthread.php?15015-Lose-a-little-jiggle-with-that-wiggle Nadia
9. Although the standing desk may never happen at the ad agency where I work, the exercise ball with stand sounds cool!
10. Thanks WolfKack! As I cook, I'm sure I'll have questions. Now I know who to pester. Nadia
11. Yes! You are an artist! I'm a violinist, actually. I really love the idea of depth change. I'm going to make sure to walk outside for a moment when I do take a break. My issue is mainly that when I get into a pixel pushing zone, very little can distract me. I forget to blink! I'm toying with the idea of putting a timer on my desk, but I'm not sure how my office neighbors will feel about it. Have you ever tried anything like that? Or are you pretty good at remembering to step away from the screen?
12. Yes! I definitely plan on doing the next 6 week challenge, I just didn't want to wait until the 30th to get started. I really love yoga and I tend to use Groupons to afford classes at better yoga studios in Miami. I'm excited that someone is also looking to un-weak themselves, haha!
13. Hello Rebels! I'm Nadia. I've recently lost about 30 pounds and am now interested in taking this skinnier weak body to a different level. I'm not looking to lose weight necessarily (although I could probably still stand to lose another 10 pounds or so), I'm looking to build strength. I'm 5'2" on a good day. I'm an omnivore that eats mostly plants and non-fleshy foods. I love to cook, but what gets me is snacking! I work as a creative in an advertising agency which means lots of free sweets and hours upon hours of sitting in my chair pushing pixels to get my designs juuuuuust right. I love that I'm making a living doing creative work, but the hours and lack of movement are gruesome. I'll get in the zone and the next thing I know, three hours have gone by and my eyes are bloodshot from staring at the screen. I've been enrolled in a gym for a couple of months now, but I don't love the environment. A friend turned me onto NF and now I'm here. I've purchased the Rebel Strength Guide and am making a plan/goals to start the Body Weight workouts on Monday. In the meantime, I've started waking up a little earlier and doing some basic things like push ups and stretches, jumping jacks, etc. in anticipation for Monday. I also love doing yoga, although I've fallen off the bandwagon as of late. I live in sunny Miami, Florida so I'm pretty amphibious. It's summertime here now and the humidity is out of control! A long-term goal of mine is to get to a fitness level where I feel comfortable attending a surf camp I have my eye on in Costa Rica. If I went now, I would barely be able to paddle out! Any other artists out there looking to get fit? My journey's just begun. Wish me luck!
14. Hi fellow noobs! I'm new too. In the process of writing up my own intro post, but I wanted to say that although I'm an omnivore I rarely eat meat. I'm with WolfKack though, and I eat eggs and dairy. I'd like to build up my strength and would love to conspire with you all on how to eat right, get those high levels of protein in our diets and not eat meat. Intro post coming soon... Nads
