  1. Thanks so much, everyone!!! You all rock out loud. I have a lot of posts to catch up on! Can't wait to see how everyone's been doing. This weekend, I was able to keep Whole30 -- even with two barbeques on one day and then friends coming over the next day -- so that part is going strong. However, I ran out of time to do forms and my back kicks on Saturday and Sunday. Alas! I did, however, clean the entire house. So, um, yeah. And the planetarium trip was postponed; in terms of Family Time, we had good friends and their son come over, so it was a big play date for kids and gr'ups. All in all, I've learned that I must do my forms and kicks early on weekends, or they may not happen. Did everything today. Yay me! Tomorrow morning, over a big cup of black coffee, I'll check in to see how my fellow Monks are doing.
  2. So one of my taekwondo instructors asked me if I was feeling adventurous. I said yes. The result? My next board break, for my advanced brown belt test. Here it is.
  3. Thanks - I shall! Quick report to say that I'm still on track - Whole30, check; 20 back kicks, check; all forms, check; plans to go to the planetarium on Sunday, check! Tomorrow, I'll have time to catch up with how everyone else is doing. Rah!
  4. Thanks so much, everyone! Ttankzero, I hugely appreciate the advice! That makes perfect sense -- I keep being told that I have to get my knee up if I don't want to hook, but I haven't really thought about foot position until now. I'm going to do my daily practice right now; I'll keep foot position in mind. Thank you again!!!
  5. Wahoo!!! Here's the break. I'm still giddy!!!
  6. Kibcy, I'm sorry that your co-worker is such a jerk. Sheesh. I find walking to be a huge stress reliever. Maybe steal five minutes and just go around the block?
  7. Oh man, I better check my labels!!! Thanks - I'm really stoked. Good luck!
  8. Checking in super quick to say that I rocked all my NF Challenge goals today...AND I BROKE THAT BOARD!!! Three practice runs, then when the board came out, got it my first try. RAH!!! My sparring was only mediocre; I was exhausted (I hate doing moving basics and forms while in whites) and had trouble breathing by the start of the second round. Feh. I'm so out of shape for sparring! Must build endurance. Forms were very good; moving basics, ditto. All in all, I'm pleased with my test and thrilled about the break. The master who had suggested that I do this break said to me after, "Great job! Feels good, doesn't it?" And hell yes, it does. ADVANCED BROWN BELT, BABY!
  9. Not "if" you do well -- "after" you do well! You can do it. Welcome!
  10. Still going strong! Well, strongish. I did my kicks, this time with the cover punch. I really, REALLY love that idea. I'll try it tomorrow night during sparring for my advanced brown belt test. Rah! Also did my forms. I have to start going slower, and really exaggerate each movement. Whole30 still going strong. Wish me luck on my test tomorrow night! I'm nervous about my break -- a running jump off a chair to do a high kick. I'm focusing on turning those nerves into determination. RAH!!!
  11. I haven't seen it yet!!! I can't believe I haven't. I marked it on my calendar and everything. Drat this "Real Life" thing! It gets in the way of my scheduled fun!
  12. But how will you smell your opponents' fear?
  13. I know, right? And she hid under a sheet! If I had a bod like that, I'd walk around in a bikini all the time. And snow boots. Bikinis and snow boots are cool.
