  1. Hey all, I'm Mad Sci. I'm 26 years old and currently work at a jail for kids. I was very active in my younger days, up through college, playing almost any sport where I could get on a team. Since graduating though, I have become more sedentary and my diet has been total garbage. My ultimate goals are to gain muscle and cut fat. The past couple weeks I've been retooling my diet to have water replace soda and veggies to replace fast food. It's been painful but, mostly, successful. Now I just need to start going to the gym... right after the blizzard passes. From my teammates, I expect everyone to try as hard as they can to complete their goals. No excuses, play like a champion.
  2. Day one: No gym today and the weather is making me nervous for the rest of the week. Hopefully, the incoming snowstorm will bypass the city totally so I can make it to the gym. If not pushups, burpees and squats at home will be in my future. Fortunately, the rest of my goals are still on track. No fast food, no soda and working to make the benjamins. The soda machine calls to me but I must be strong...
  3. I love that game. Kept me way way too entertained.
  4. I'm gonna try to get a couple friends to go to the one near St. Louis. It looks awesome!
  5. When painting the figures, just go assembly line. Take the platoon and just do one color at a time for all the miniatures then move on to the next color till they're all done. It seems to take a lot less time to get them all done. That's what I did when I could afford to play Warhammer.
  6. I really like the addition of the 90 minutes of cleaning a week. I may need to add it to my goals to gain more appreciation from my wife. Best of luck with your goals!
  7. Raincloak: I have a similar carrot plan through my health insurance company. Based on your self reported workouts, physical activities and preventative doctor visits they give points that can be redeemed for gift cards. I'm currently in a race with my wife to reach 250,000 points (which would turn into a $250 gift card). Loser has to buy dinner but we would have enough left over to go on a small vacation.
  8. Hurrah! My first challenge! Here's to hoping I can actually stick to my guns for a month! Fitness goal: Hit the gym at least 3 times a week but preferably 5 times. I don't like going to the gym because I feel lost in the weight room. But I've been working on it for the past couple of weeks and feel a little more comfortable around the heavy things that could squish me. Nutrition goal: Cut soda out of my "diet". I've been a serious soda fiend in the past and really need to eliminate the empty calories and all the sugar. I really don't want to follow the family tradition of diabetes. Significantly reduce the amount of fast food I intake. I developed a habit of just hitting the drive thru on my to/home from work and it has made me squishy. I need to take more responsibility for what I eat and that starts with making my own damn food. It's stupid because I'm very capable in the kitchen, I'm just lazy. Level Up My Life: Make $1000 in Credit Card payments without dipping into my small savings. I graduated college with way too much debt and I'm slowly working it down. The holidays hit me hard in the wallet so I haven't been able to pay it like I wanted to and work has cut down on the overtime. This month I'm just going to have to buckle down, watch what I spend and make sure this is a priority. Boom. Let's see how this goes.
  9. Name: Mad Sci Brief overview of goals: -Cut the Cola -Cut the Crap (no fast food) -Cut the Excuses (gym at least 3/week) -Cut the Debt (make some major payments on the credit card) Class: Warrior... who can run to the fight Eating: trying to be less awful I'm just starting to get into a workout routine and still have a lot of difficulty figuring out what I'm doing. Squad to keep me more involved .
  10. I've never played the smaller team sports, leaning more towards baseball and soccer. However, I'm never opposed to learning a new game. i'll give those a shot. Thanks!
  11. At home, I go without shoes for the most part. At work, I wear big stinking boots because I'm forced to. At all other times, I wear Sambas. I love how lightweight they are and it feels as if I'm not wearing shoes at all. I don't need the extra cushion I just don't want to feel as though I'm weighed down. I did just buy a pair of Reebok cross-trainers for weight training but have yet to test them out. They feel lightweight but appear bulkier. I'll update when I figure out whether I like them.
  12. Hi all, my name's Matt but my friends call me Mad Sci(entist). I'm currently working as a Juvenile Detention Officer, a jailor for kids. So one of my main goals is to get a bit stronger in case the kids get out of hand. I'm 26 years old, about 5'7", 175 lbs, married, no kids but one dog. I love to play all team sports but have difficulties finding the time with my work schedule. I really love the idea of the OMFG. I think it's a great idea and I'm really looking forward to leveling up in the Warrior class!
  13. I tend to listen to politically oriented music with a good beat. Politics make me angry and when I'm angry I work harder. At this point I'm transfixed on Flobots and Bad Religion.
