  1. Good luck with your goals Jakdethe! I'm aiming for real-life ranger class, as well. Archery is a lot of fun and'll build up your upper body strength like awesome.
  2. Agree with this. I got into weights a ways at 18, and I \wasn't afraid to lift as much as I could play with. Body com/position-wise, my thick legs became a little slimmer but thick with muscle, my short n curvy waist.. unfortunately stayed short but looked longer and maintained a firmer hourglass indent. So, you're waist may get thicker, but that's because it's filling out to potential. Personally, I say never be afraid of \what your body \will change into when you're getting it to its full potential. Change is scary, but the results are awesome.
  3. Kudos on pointing me to the site, btw . I can take verbal intelligence tests whenever I need training/ an ego boost.
  4. Clicked for the Firefly references. Welcome to Level One of Level 1, fellow Rebel!
  5. It \wasn't really an impressed thing, I just blush incredibly easily - brightly enough to save money on makeup and /provide joke fodder.
  6. I used to play Catan with my family, but it literally takes ALL DAY, as certain members take u/p to forty minutes to try making trades \when no one's interested and other fun ditherings. |We've managed not to kill each other /playing Munchkins, though. Sort of.
  7. Er.. 20, but the interactive chart helped.
  8. *Slides a good cold ale over to Meta* Enjoy! I've got a library of edible forage and related books to crack open. First up is Yarrow!
  9. Hallo Adventurers, have a Dwarven Ale on me. It's the good stuff. Me? I've hung around the hall days past, but never got quite out of the woods, heh. Well, all right, Poppa Greenbeard kicked my callow arse out of Ranger Camp. I thought I made a smashing baby Ranger, but apparently I need to get "set up" 'fore I'm allowed back in my own woodlands! With that cheerful thought on my mind, I've drawn up just the recipe to fix this stop I'm in. Want to see? In a few months, I will be fit to become a ranger. edit: Ranger = 1. 2 pullups 2. 6 non-stop driveway runs 3. 6 proper pushups . Exercise 6/7, P90 system (Wed or Sun off), 11:00 AM.- Eat only until full -- drink water when tempted to snack.- Archery 6/7 (Wed or Sun off), develops Focus and Forearms. LSQLearn about and how to use one local medicinal herb per week. July 29: Yarrow MotivationStop being afraid; get stronger and faster to take on the challenges ahead. But sometimes, friends, I get very down and blue. Not the most determined Dwarven pals of mine can go deep enough to drag me out. To that end, I've devised a simpler system, a set of climbing spikes to crawl my way up the old Cliff of Despair. In Case Of Blues, Seek Thy Remedy 10 girly-ups 10 x2 Lunges 15 squats 8 extra-heavy presses, curls, militaries 25 crunches 16 x2 Leg Presses I'd add some running in places, but extra motion makes me dizzy and detracts from the upward motion of the climb. I shall do my best to keep up with the class and graduate quickl-- er -- cheer my fellow Adventurers along in our noble quest to bett-- other pursuits. Come to me when you want some Dwarven moonshine. It's the good stuff. ----- Reminder To Self: Take Measurements or Photos On Sunday
  10. The first time I got to interview someone for a community tv channel, I was blushing so hard that we saved money on blush and lipstick.
  11. My computer died before I could save my scores, but I came out a Neutral Good Human Ranger, which is exactly what I expected.
  12. Update: I've Been Bad, Bad, Bad. ------------------------------------------ After doing the Angry Birds workout this week, I've decided to go back to completing Jillina's 30 Day Shred. AB is great for basic muscle toning, and I've done more pushups this week, even on my knees, than ever before, but I've been here already. I need a circuit to get me doing cardio, because I friggin hate doing cardio, and I really love the motivation of a not really there coach. So, I'm going back to J30. Since I really, really liked getting better at pushups, and hope to sometime next year actually do pull-ups, I'll be adding more rounds of those to the routine. My tumble and crawl plan hasn't moved forward either, so today is about researching a good routine, incorporating some basic parkour moves into that, and practicing at least twice a week, when I'm not too sore to move from previously mentioned workout. French with MT is very, very fun. I might even *gasp* converse with real people in a few months. boo-yah.
  13. Alright, let's get some information down here: Current Stats: I'm 5'2, good at building muscle, but very short on stamina. Last time I weighed myself was five years ago; I was around 150 lbs. I'd say I'm hovering around there now, but I've never had a scale at home. The Schedule The Embarrassing Part: Measurements! Neck: 13" Shoulders: 22" Chest: 34" L. Bicep: 12 6/8" Waist: 39 1/2" Hips: 41 2/8" L. Thigh: 25"
  14. The young hopeful has arrived later than most, but eager to begin, after a weekend waylay of archery and merriment! Hi everyone! I'm Florei, this is my first challenge, and I officially begin my workouts and life goal tomorrow (but as I've spent this weekend doing over seven hours of archery and running about, I hope I can be excused.) My ultimate goal is to be a kick-ass Ranger, and this is step one towards that goal. For the next six weeks, I will be doing these: 1. Angry Birds Circuits 2. Learning to Run a Mile (I know.) 3. Learning how to Fall, Tumble, And Crawl. 4. Completing the entire Michel Thomas French Foundation set. And other fun things not directly challenge related I'm not really consistent with blog posts, but I shall make a point tomorrow to add my "before" measurements, stats, etc. Tonight's a bit rushed. Looking forward to following your journeys, everyone!
  15. Hi all -- I was considering some goals to accomplish for the new Challenge, and decided on going up a few Angry Birds levels. I was thinking three - 1 level every two weeks unless I can do more, but I tend to be over-optimistic about my abilities, so my questions are: What was your fitness at when you decided to do AB, and how long did it take you to accomplish your level goal?
  16. I've been pretty bad in the past about keeping up with my goals. I want a strong, capable body - I've never been worried about how"acceptable" I'll be when I'm done. Like one or two others have said here, I looked at myself and where I was going, and didn't like what I saw - didn't see myself going in the direction I wanted. It wasn't a single spark that motivated me, but a string of things I paid attention to -- women's fitness (we can lift, too!), back-to-the-land living, the fact that I can't run half a mile without killing myself. A lot of little things added up, and out of this swirl the clear thought is: I'm going to be what I want to be. I think that's a good way to begin one's adult life.
  17. (As a complete newbie) My impression is, if you're interested in obtaining a variety of skills across the other classes, you're a Ranger. I think the Ranger class is great for someone who shifts their goals frequently and prefers to mix things up. Specializing is for devotees of martial arts (monks), parkour (assassins), etc.
  18. I was genetically gifted with what I call "scales", which is that skin keratosis thing that a lot of people actually have...but I have the pink goosebumps on pale skin variation that is not at all pretty. I shave my legs anyway to be passably acceptable in society when I wear skirts or shorts, but there are some things you just can't fix..I say scr*w 'em all. It really is your body in the end, so do what feels right. I'm also just for trimming nether-hair and plucking or shaving strays. That's a lot less blistering/rashes to deal with, and having done the total package before, I personally felt like a weak little baby girl. All that time spent going through puberty to look like a five year old? No thanks.
  19. Those were ten of the girliest pushups I ever did do on the kitchen floor, you heartless songstress.
  20. Thanks for the reply, Kahuna. I'm not a big fan of beans because soaking doesn't seem to do much for body reactions, but I can do lentils. Anyway, I'll try adding more eggs, nuts, and fruit (ugh) to my diet and try eating a little more frequently. My biggest concern in trying to balance my diet is in how my body reacts to certain foods at certain times of the day (yep, I have a food diary project this week). I'm not a picky eater, but my energy/muscle needs seem to require specific things. This week is going to involve the good old scientific method. If all else fails, I can lock myself in my room between 4 and 5 pm
  21. Cravings start pretty regularly in the afternoon, after having no carbs (avoiding vegetables high in them, too). One weakness is that my family is really dependent on potatoes/pasta/bread, even when we can afford not to be; can be hard to find a greater variety of vegetables in the house most of the years since we grow a lot of our own for winter. Here's a sample of the meals "done right": Breakfast: 7 - 1 or 2 whole eggs, about 1/4 cup lean beef/ham/chicken (trying to cut ham, but sometimes all there is) Snacks:10 and 4 - 1/2 cup mixed nuts OR meat, small salad without dressing Lunch: 1 - 2 cups Steamed vegetables (usually swiss chard, broccoli, squash) , more of same meat, an apple or grapes on the side. Dinner: 7 - Usually a rice based stir-fry with a lot of veggies and some soy sauce, Thai food (homemade), some variation of meat and potatoes. We also make a lot of potato-based stews. When I'm doing alright, I eat about half of my former overlarge portions. My drink of choice is mostly plain green tea. When I've done everything "right", including abstaining from potatoes and whole wheat bread, those are the worst days for frenetic evening bread-eating. It feels like I really need the sugar -- so maybe it's just taking me a lot longer to get out of that dependent phase... *edit* I do still eat cheese and a little bit of butter (2 tbspn per day, est.). The cheese is goat milk based, made at home too. I've never sensed a problem with it, and I'm pretty sensitive to large amounts of any milk in my system.
  22. I've mentioned in a couple of posts that I really like the South Beach style diet. I've even stuck with it for about three weeks at a time (about three times a year), so the problem might just be that I wasn't keeping up with it long enough...but a major issue I have is that I follow through wonderfully from morning to 4pm, eating every three hours and drinking a lot of water or green tea, but at 4 pm, I become a Guided Carb Missile. I go crazy trying to dig out bread products and sugary things out of the cupboards, and I feel insanely unsatisfied with almost everything else. Carrots seem to be the only veg I'll eat at this point, and then I overload on pasta or something at dinner like a ravenous Carb Goblin. Obviously, besides ignoring my dark urges, I'm doing something wrong/ not consuming something I need, but what?
  23. Definitely .... Community Firefly Arrested Development Sarah Connor Chronicles BSG
  24. Hey, guys! Ok: I'm 20, female, about or just at 5"3 and ....I think.... about 160 or 170 lbs. right now. We haven't owned a scale since I was fourteen. Anyhow, I clearly need to lose weight, and I seriously love having muscles, as I discovered during a month-long flirtation with the P90 system. Unfortunately, I've been inactive and kind of depressed for ..um.. too long a time, so I was really excited to find NF. This is the only place where I can say, without too much shame, that I finally decided to get off my butt after watching my Oblivion dark elf-self (who looks exactly like me...isn't Oblivion's character creation excellent?!) getting steadily faster and stronger while I was doing very little. I mean, I don't see the point of idolizing Xena, X-men, Ripley, etc. and yet shying away from being as awesome as they are and taking advantage of the adventures I can have in real life (like Steve's James Bond vacation. That was inspiring.) I'm admitting myself to the Adventurer's Guild while I start out and decide whether I'm a Warrior or a Ranger. My current goals are pretty simple: Getting my eating habits back on track, having some outdoor fun on the family farm -- running, crawling, rolling. The electric fences provide an additional non-lethal challenge. Also doing Jillina's 30 Day Shred, because she makes cardio fun, and is tough instead of bubbly. I like that. I usually make lots of detailed lists and plans (world-building is a hobby of mine), but I'm trying to generalize my workout plans to slow down my racing mind. Alright, I know that was a pretty scattered intro. In short, Hi, Rebels! See you around
