  1. My travels have finally slowed down - should be in town for several months. It's time to buckle down. Let's close out this challenge... Despite travel and stress and a complete neglect of updating the challenge, these past six weeks have been among the most productive of my life - I have had some real success in this challenge. * Joined a crossfit gym, completed their elements course, and began building a foundation of fitness * Got back to Paleo eating (for the most part) * Transitioned my running form and style to natural running - many thanks to barefootdawsy * My family is settled in the new city and starting to feel at home * I am finally finding a groove in the new job and on the verge of starting some side-work endeavors My confidence is really getting some feet. My body is feeling stronger than in a LONG time - and my wife is getting into the fitness efforts now - SO encouraged by this. So, I was far from perfect on my stated goals, but I got so much more done than I set out to achieve. I definitely merit points on several skills... not sure how to "level" myself - might need to re-read how. All said, I'm thrilled with my progress. So thankful for the summer we had and eager to see what's next.
  2. Mama T - you found me! Great connecting again... and thanks all for being patient. I guess moving and new job (plus NYC and Seattle work travels) makes life cray! Almost... there...
  3. One more thing - I am seriously tired - and my family is whooped... this challenge is going to be more about establishing myself at the job and in Wisconsin than anything - get our feet under us and MOVE FORWARD... and give myself some grace if I'm not losing the fat like I want to.
  4. Thank you all for your posts - and please forgive my silence. This "new job on-boarding / moving to a new city" quest seems to last a very long time (and stressful!!!). Working away and hope to post more soon. Making progress reading Olivia Fox Cabane (for confidence / charisma at work) and It Starts With Food (to improve Paleo knowledge and implementation) and CrossFit classes (for exercise). Sleep is improving - got 6 hours last night (better for me). Much work to do here - especially after my final 4 study kits are complete (work related).
  5. Thanks Haikoo - we are working on some financial milestones, and I was sleepy when I did my editing. More to come if my schedule ever eases up... at the latest Thursday after my work-travel.
  6. Some of you remember me as TheBody - now I'm FortBacon. I'm in adventurer because I sill need to drop a bunch of fat - not quite ready to go Ranger (even though I'm committed to CrossFit / Paleo things)... This is my brief intro - will elaborate on points, story, etc. after my travels (must get sleep to catch an early flight). The Fort has a new homeland on which to build (recent move family to Milwaukee) - we have a foundation (picked Paleo + CrossFit as my fitness system... plus sleep, etc.), and now it's time to build the Fort, starting with the outer walls for defenses - FAT LOSS and STRENGTH Here is the fast summary (more elaboration to come - will get "specific and measurable" in my next post) DROP FAT... 1) Dial it in with food - BOOK It Starts With Food and implement (have read tons of others, but this is my implementation book) 2) Dial it in with sleeps - sacrifice in order to get to bed by 8pm (triathletes do it, why not a dad who needs to create more early morning time) 3) CrossFit 4x's per week or more - I'm done with elements intro class - let's do this for realz! 4) CONFIDENCE (something many challenge me on) - Transition from job on-boarding to choosing first entrepreneurial endeavor: * at current company - master our story, finish two selling system books (they require) * by the end of challenge, pick 1 entrepreneurial idea to experiment and take two major steps in that experiment. (this is all toward my "get money" goal - to be a good Dad and Husband) Must stop NOW and get sleep before 4am drive to the airport. Will clean this up later.
