  1. NERDS - sorry for being a terrible contributor - doing what I can at this point Two part summary of the week: 1) I was far from perfect, had a few big cheats 2) You nerds gave a lot of great advice to me - while not perfect, the week was a huge improvement! I learned to make a few new foods, exercised 3 times (graduating to bodyweight level 2 in the academy) and lost 2.5 pounds! So, directionally correct (as they like to say in my industry when we whiff, but still make a little progress).
  2. LOLZ - The doge ... this will help me over the hump for sure - but seriously, if I can solve for food, I will have solved over 90% of my shhhhhhhhtuff - and that's why I come back for all the nerd-help CANNOT wait to try this with yummy bacon - and cannot believe I didn't think of it. This is a great treat-substitute idea. LOL - Kate Moss - scary close to her quote - FIT (not skinny) is the goal
  3. These things are the best kind of things
  4. This, literally, is my greatest struggle - staying compliant on the food part.
  5. Not a bad start to the day - finally a complete workout, and up almost as early as I need... now let's try not to ruin it with a bread-binge at a coffee shop
  6. LOL - First, I assure you, 80s fundamentalist moral panic was equally as indelible and insulating (if not more so). Second - about coffee...
  7. I was on the verge of invoking GI Joe, as is vital to round out this theme - I had about a hundred of those (GI Joe's), including every iteration of Snake Eyes and Destro. But the envy of all my friends was my buddy's GI Joe aircraft career - oh man - it was the length of his room - while the biggest vehicle I had was Zartan's jeep-thingy - but at least Zartan could changed colors in the sun (until you accidentally left him in the sun for a week - permanent burn - trying to suppress pre-teen tears as I realize I ruined one of my favorite toys). Gah - I just wasted Laghail's thread with that paragraph... but I don't care! I guess I'll have to buy him a coffee.
  8. I'm testing a few photo hosting options - Flickr was my main site in the past - trying Facebook now - HUGE images - sheesh.
  9. That would be phenomenal Thank YOU Fonzico for the idea!!
  10. Successful cabbage - Thanks everyone! Smells good, tastes good - and nobody as died...
  11. Easy cleaning - no bread/crust to clean off, and we pre-sprayed the tins.
  12. Ahoy! Totally get the stresses of mergers and such (ours was merged/sold TWICE in the last 3 years - ugh - the stress!!) Following...
  13. Mmmmkay - found a ton of simple steps online to do this with olive oil... so, going to give it a try. Not sure where I got the idea to never cook oil past their smoke point - is that not toxic? Who cares, I'm eating cabbage (and bacon). In other news, the wife made this healthiness for the week - to eat at work - healthy egg thingies: EDIT: apparently there is little evidence of toxicity in oils cooked above their "smoke point" - and it seems that extra virgin olive oil has a higher smoke point than regular stuff... and finally, the only bad side effect is any kind of strange flavor from cooking above smoke points - so much learning!
  14. HOLY CRAP - haven't thought of DAOC in a long time - this... this is why I hang out with on NF with @Laghail and friends
  15. Nice! Cheers to fumbling through... and greek salad - mmmmm. Progress!
  16. Thanks for your candor - this is where I AM AS WELL (no reliable "buddies" at the gym for spotting, and no real need for it yet given my light weight). It's just a nagging thought whenever I do Stronglifts - especially when I look at doing a bench press. Nice thing, like you said, if you do it in a rack you can set up those "safety arms" to catch the bar as well. I love your challenge! It's good to move again.
  17. Okay @Fonzico - you started me on this cabbage kick! lol - so help me get past this strange place intimidated by you suggestion (I know, it's simple, but bear with me - I'm a terrible perfectionist, which means I'm paralyzed by the details)... You say "chop it up, mix in your fat of choice and splash of water and stick it in a 375 oven for 45 min or so" - so, basically, after chopping it, should I spread it on a cookie sheet with fats and a little water? Or do you use something else (pan, etc)? I was thinking maybe olive oil, but that has a low smoke point. Maybe coconut oil? Any favorites of yours? Thanks!!!
  18. Xena! Thanks for stopping in - and so true - I've dislodged myself from the lithification of sedentary living.
  19. But I also haz this - left side is "sweat heat" and right side is "apple cinnamon"
  20. That Liam story! lol - we can relate... often - the number of those stories our son tells Also - love the challenge - especially stronglifts - do you have friends at the gym or spotters - or not feeling the need just yet for spotters?
  21. Today I simplify life a little more while trying to gear UP for this challenge, the new job, studying... and being a husband/dad/person
