  1. Here's my weekly report. 1) Been stressed out because I've been so busy still! Clutter is piling up, taxes are due to be filed, and next month a big new scary thing is happening for me, and I'm getting nervous. And to add injury to insult (hehe) my husband came home from work with broken ribs the other day, so he's been grumpy and doped up. He's often my workout buddy... so you can imagine how that's helped me get in shape. Not. Friend of mine is making me go to my first Zumba class tomorrow...help? lol 2) I'm down about another inch in the fat loss goal. I'm liking the way my clothes look on me more and more each day. 3) I feel great however. Been eating cleaner than even before, and even though I'm 90% Primal/Paleo, I've only had red meat once i the last week. Is that even possible? haha. I love the stuff but I've been eating so much fish! (and bacon) 4) I've acquired some study materials for my test. Just gotta crack em open. Time is running out! Thanks so much for the continued support and encouragement!! It keeps me going!
  2. *crickets* I hope everyone here is so intent on meeting their goals that they're too busy to post!! Haha. I just forget most of the time. I know it was almost 2 Have you looked at daily burn? I have used that in the past, and I don't know if it's different than MyFitnessPal, but they have tons of charts and graphs based on the info you put in (weight, water intake, macro nutrients/calories, and I think the recently added sleep). I like that you can create and save your own "recipes" (or meals for that matter), so if you make the same thing you can easily input that without having to look up each individual ingredient.
  3. Week 2 Progress Report! Another busy week for me. But to be honest, this challenge is keeping me going WAY more than I expected it to. I suppose all it really takes is seeing some results to keep moving forward. Goal 1: Not a lot of improvement in the lifting category. Didn't have a ton of motivation this week. Lifted what I regularly do, and practiced my form quite a bit. Hubby is really helpful here. He makes me "do one more!" haha Goal 2: I am now down a total of 5.5 inches!! My muffin top is melting!! :D Honestly, even if I don't drop all the % I want, I'd be totally happy with a waist-to-hip ratio of .7 or lower. Who cares what you weigh when you're sexy! Goal 3: Again I've completed this successfully. I would still like to get over my fear of cooking fish at home though. I didn't eat it as a kid (other than fish sticks) so I never learned. I know it's not hard, but I just have this crazy notion that I'm always going to do it wrong. XD Goal 4: I'm afraid I'm going to fail this portion of my challenge miserably. Let's just hope I'm off to a slow start, and that I'll catch up and get some good studying in. I DID acquire some very useful study resources for my exam this week, so I'll have to crack them open. I sure wish the espresso place I worked at was a cafe and not a drive-thru! Thanks to anyone who keeps up on my progress. Every ounce of encouragement helps more than you know!
  4. Lavender. It helps me fall asleep every time I find it difficult to do so on my own. Either get a lavender soap, mix in some essential oil in a lotion and rub it on your chest and shoulders, or make/buy an herb pillow. Or all of the above! Aromatherapy is safe, natural, easy, and it works!
  5. Welcome to our fellowship Doctor_ice!
  6. OMG I thought I was the only girl in the world that enjoyed watching let's plays! Never seen a Civ V one(though I'm sure they're great), but DANG are they addicting. Why isn't playing the game yourself ever that fun? haha Great job so far!!!
  7. Weekly Progress Report! I think the worst thing that happened to me this week was a medium order of french fries, and my birthday. I baked some Primal-friendly(ish) donuts I'd been dying to try, and they were awesome. They weren't too sweet though, weighing in at about 23g sugar each from the local raw honey I used. Goal 1: I managed only to lift twice this week. My boss is out of town, and I've been really busy at work lately. I did manage however, to successfully DL 185lbs for 2 reps. That's my max so far. I know I can keep pushing to that 200lb mark! Goal 2: Like I mentioned, I've been doing well on the eating side of things sans a box of fries. I've lost 2.75 inches already! It's spread out pretty evenly, so it's not that noticeable yet. Not to me at least. My husband says otherwise. I don't have a scale, so I don't know the BF% right now, but I know I'm on the right track. Goal 3: I've been trying my darndest to keep a food diary. It's hard because I eat so much! and so often! haha but I have so far made my minimum seafood/fish consumption goals. I'm a big fan of sushi, and I'm in the process of starting that at home. Goal 4: Nothing good to report here. :/ Haven't studied or read much of anything this week. Busy week! (Ok, I've bee playing too much Terraria too) OH yeah! I totally made a spreadsheet for my measurements. New at that, so fun little nerdy accomplishment for me. 10 points to Ravenclaw!
  8. I already eat very few carbs. I've been Primal for almost 4 years, and I love it!! My only problem is not exercising enough. I plateau at around 170lbs (I'm 5'10") without exercise. I was active duty Navy a year ago, and I was in the best shape of my life! The only thing I did differently was exercise more often. I ate so much food back then! My fitocracy pic was from close to the end of that period of my life. I miss it. I ALWAYS win those "Guess your weight" games. But yeah it's just embarrassing to get taped even if I'm not overweight.
  9. You've missed mine OKLibrarian! Don't leave me out! lol I've subbed to everyone as well. Lets do this!
  10. Welcome to the team DirtyLittleSecrets and Tenaciousglee!!
  11. I wonder how many NFers mentioned that holiday weight in their challenge goals... I didn't but it was certainly implied! I felt like such pig when I went home for Christmas. Oh well. Here's to new beginnings! Good luck and see you in guild chat! haha
  12. Yay! Nice to have a smaller circle. SO MANY RANGERS!!! haha I totally dig the Numenorean thing. I saw this team on the list and I was like umm yes please! Adds yet another layer to this giant role play tat we have going on.
  13. Ok. So I've noticed you're quite active on NF, and EVERY time I see your name/pic pop up, I can't resist thinking of this really awesome PRIMAL Irish Soda Bread recipe. Seriously this stuff is awesome, and you should try it if you haven't already. I don't recommend trying to consume a lot of "primal" baked goods however, as they do tend to have a lot of sweet to them (although from more acceptable sources like maple or honey). Here's a link: http://www.elanaspantry.com/irish-soda-bread/
  14. I sometimes make salads with dried cranberries(best if unsweetened obviously), some feta cheese(I still do some dairy), and any kind of nuts I had lying around. Top it with a home-made vinaigrette and voila! Yummy! Easy too. Of course you could easily add some chicken or fish to that as well. Might not be ideal for taking to work, but what about a paleo taco salad? Some seasoned ground beef, salsa, guacamole? If you do dairy then cheese and sour cream. I make this for dinner at LEAST twice per week. It's a huge hit and SO easy to do.
  15. I hadn't visited NF in months. I started a challenge long ago, and it just totally fell by the wayside. I just logged on yesterday and saw the challenge dates. With no time to lose I... decided to just revamp my first challenge submission. Not much has changed, just a few numbers and my life goal. Enjoy my Zelda Style Challenge! Goals 1. Deadlift 200Lbs 5 reps +4STR Before my adventure to save Hyrule begins, I must obtain the Master Sword! Unfortunately, it's wedged in the Pedestal of Time, and I don't have the strength to pull it out. - This is roughly 120% of my body weight. Seems reasonable. I can already lift 175. I've never really paid any mind to my performance over time, so this might be a totally lame goal. We'll see! 2. Drop 3% Body fat +1CHA, +2CON I need to rescue the sage from the Fire Temple, but my new Goron Tunic is a little too... tight. -This is the biggest one. I'm in the military, and due to my build, I am usually close to my max weight for my height. I always pass, but I don't like the nail biting. I really just don't want to get taped. I'm at around 23%. Fortunately, my max BF is 33%(in the military? are you joking?), so I'm well in the clear. I've proposed a big stat award for motivation. 3. Eat Fish 2x/Week +2CON Now that I have more bottles, I can carry more fish. Maybe I'll catch a Hylian Loach! I've always believed I'd be reincarnated as a Zora. - I've been mostly(probably 70%) Primal for almost 4 years now. I'd certainly like to bump that % up a little to help out with goal #2. I feel like diversifying my usual menu will stimulate more weight loss. I need to eat something other than steak once in a while. 4. More studying! +6 WIS While chasing chickens and breaking pots is fun...and I mean a LOT of fun, I really need to focus more on the tasks at hand. - I have a big exam coming up on a subject of which I know VERY little. The goal there is to pass. And lastly, I'd like to be on track with my Bible reading by then.

    Save Hyrule!

I almost mixed it all up, but went with strictly OoT instead. I've been playing it recently, and I had forgotten how AWESOME it was! I figured t would be the most recognizable to the soft-core Zelda fans out there. Haha! Ah, to be a kid again. Methinks a Pokemon theme may be in the future.

Yes, I'm a Navy Reservist. We have semi-annual physical fitness assessments.

    Save Hyrule!

Gannondorf is out to obtain the power of the Triforce and destroy Hyrule. I must stop him! I must rescue the sages from their temples in order to use their power to defeat evil. The seal to the Sacred Realm is closing, so time is of the essence! Goals: 1. Deadlift my Body Weight +4 STR Before my adventure to save Hyrule begins, I must obtain the Master Sword! Unfortunately, it's wedged in the Pedestal of Time, and I don't have the strength to pull it out. - I weigh roughly 170, and I can currently DL 135ish. Very reasonable goal for me. I'll even lock that in as my goal number, as I plan to lose weight. I don't want to make it too easy! 2. Drop 6% Bodyfat +6 CHA I need to rescue the sage from the Fire Temple, but my new Fire Tunic is a little too...tight. -This is the biggest one. I'm at around 28%. I'm going to attempt a rate of about 1% per week. I have an official weigh-in next month and I'm getting dangerously close to my maximum weight. I know that this rate is a little fast, but I've done it before, and I've proposed a big stat award for motivation. 3. Eat Fish 2x/Week +2 CON Now that I have more bottles, I can carry more fish. Maybe I'll catch a Hylian Loach! I've always believed I'd be reincarnated as a Zora. - I've been mostly(probably 70%) Primal for over 3 years now. I'd certainly like to bump that % up a little to help out with goal #2. I feel like diversifying my usual menu will stimulate my Primal instincts. I need to eat something other than steak once in a while. 4. Dive Deeper +3 WIS If I only had a Zora Scale or a Blue Tunic. Perhaps some iron boots? I WILL find a way to solve the mysteries of the Water Temple! - I recently became an open water certified diver. I'm totally addicted! Unfortunately, it's not a poor man's sport. I can't afford to dive often, and I haven't even been down close to 100ft yet. My goal is to do a wreck dive at 100+ feet during this challenge. Maybe I'll do U-352. Time to save some pennies! Oh, and don't tell the fish down there about goal #3. (this is my life goal) That's it. I hope you enjoyed it and that it wasn't too terribly cheesy. I definitely had some fun with it. This is my first 6 week challenge. I thought about how I could give a fantasy theme to it, but I lack the writing skills to actually turn it in to anything more than this. Thanks for reading!
  19. Excellent timing on this challenge! My goal is to re-evaluate my Primal lifestyle, and start fresh. Truly strive for 100%. I've been mostly Primal for about 3 1/2 years, but I've gotten lazy and have allowed myself to "cheat" often enough that I'm no longer happy with where I am. We can do it Nightlight!! Did someone say coffee? YES PLEASE!
  20. Haha I wasn't offended or anything, and it occurred to me after the fact that it was probably because it was a new thread. No hard feelings. And no, I wasn't here for that debacle. Now I feel like I've gotten off on the wrong foot! Scolding everyone and appearing to have no self-esteem. Oops! I just wanted to post something because this forum seems so... stagnant. Don't get me wrong! I'm definitely glad for the responses, and it's good to hear some reassuring words from the rebels. I just wish there was more going on between/during challenges, especially for no0bs that want to get involved, but I suppose that is how this game is played. Haha
  21. For the Alliance! Everyone knows the Horde is evil... AND ugly. kek
  22. Haha I appreciate the compliment, but that photo was taken at my best, and with as few quad-targeting workouts as possible. Also, interesting that I had a reply from a MAN in the women's guild.... >.> I respect the "MEN ONLY" threads. Oh well. I suppose you enjoy reading about periods and hormones and babies too? haha Raincloak, thanks for the advice. That's what I try to do. And I definitely hear you about the current styles!
  23. My husband and I have been followers of Mark's Daily Apple for 3 1/2 years now. Check out the Primal 101 page, and don't be afraid to search the archives and the forums for specifics. I definitely recommend MDA as a resource.
  24. Usually a shopping trip for me keeps me around the outside of the regular grocery store(produce, meat dept., deli, etc). At WholeFoods, there are a lot of good things down the aisles too though. I go to the store a lot because obviously produce is better fresh, unless I go for frozen broccoli or something. I almost always have bacon and eggs in my cart. We eat a LOT of bacon and eggs. Haha
  25. One of my favorite Primal posts about gaining muscle is here.
