1. Ugh, running was my nemesis last challenge and it beat me bad, I am right with you on the running goal this challenge. Challenge looks great, good luck!
2. Nice clear and measurable goals. Last challenge I did a variation of the Starting Strength program (M/W/F split, did day 1 on M and F and day 2 on Wed instead of always alternating) with a good amount of push ups whenever I was feeling sprite and ended up putting about 2" on my chest over the six weeks. Good luck!
3. The KISS approach never fails. Awesome looking goals, subscribing!
4. Thanks! I feel pretty confident in it and Goal #1 is more important to me, but I don't foresee any real issues here. Yeah, I'm a dummy and I hadn't read all of his books yet, but there is already a (numbered)11th rule. So I changed it to twelfth. I plan on making sure my food intake is high on lifting days. My cut may come next challenge, but not while I'm still taking some newb gains to my advantage. Thanks . I'm not doing to much other than making sure my protein is over 150 grams per day (minimum), fish oil, creatine and lots of water.
5. Welcome to the warriors! Post how ever you want, most people post their daily workouts. Looks like you have 16 points, only 15 total per challenge and no more than +5 in one goal. Other than that, looks good. Good luck!
6. Congrats on the new job and the baby! Looks like solid goals to me, good luck. Subscribed.
7. Great goals! I'm also in on the push up challenge, lets get that 100!
8. Ren fests are so fun! Good looking goals, looking forward to following your progress.
9. Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing your challenge thread. Yeah, I was conflicted about that at first I plan on doing all the push ups on non bench days and a day before for rest so that I'm not hurting my bench(Wed/Fri/Sat). I also feel that I may still be benefiting from newb gains a bit but if at any time I feel the push ups are getting in the way of goal #1, I will back off on them. Thanks! Can't wait to see what you've got in planned this challenge.
10. Well, Challenge #2, here we go! Fitness goals 1) Get 10% higher on my 1 rep max for the big 3. I will be doing Wendler's 5/3/1 in an attempt to put 10% on the big 3.
Start 10% Increase Squat 245 270 Bench 225 250 (rounded up) Deadlift 345 380
Stats [+3 str] 2) Complete the Century Push Challenge. Do 100 consecutive push ups. I signed up for the Century Push challenge they have up in the base camp sub forum. Stats [+2 str, +2 sta] 3) RUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!!! Ok, last challenge I sucked at this, I will be doing a Mon -Squat/Bench and Wed - DL/Military Press. Thursdays are lodge meetings and Sundays are dedicated to football so that gives me Tuesday, Friday and Sat to run. So my goal is to run for 40 minutes per week. Stats [ +2 dex, +2 con] Life Goal 1) Educate myself I signed up for a Masonic development course. This entails going to several lectures and to read several books. My actual goal for this part of the challenge is to attend said lectures and read 3 books in 6 weeks. The books are around 300 pages each and some of them read pretty dry from what I've glanced at. Since there is no magic, plots to ambush a castle or sword fights, I expect this challenge to be tough. Stats [+2 wis, +2 cha]
11. I like a ton of authors, but if I had to pick one of all time it would Roger Zelazny. The Chronicles of Amber was by far my favorite series of books ever. I read all 10 books back to back probably 10 times so far. In comparison, I've read the LotR series 4 times and the wheel of time series twice. I guess the why would be his style of writing and his ability to make me fall into his books. No other author has kept me turning the pages like he has. As an anecdote, I once (in high school) copied a couple of chapters on a copy machine and stuffed them into my textbooks so it would look like I was working in class, but instead was reading his novels.
12. I also never really cycle it either (in the past mostly, I just got back on it about 3 months ago) and never did any loading phases. I drink about 1-1.5 gallons of water per day and I usually put it in with my protein shake after my workout.
13. Look for Creatine Monohydrate. What you have sounds like a pre-workout. Edit: this is what I use http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3370405 I get it at Rite aid for like 15 bucks and it lasts me about 3 months. Edit 2: myfitnesspal says it has 5 calories...
14. I usually get Creatine Monohydrate which has 0 calories. Sounds like you got a protein/pre-workout creatine.
15. Welcome fellow Computer Engineer! If you want to get stronger, may I recommend Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. Also getting size and strength isn't just about calories, make sure that you are getting at least 1 g of protein per lb of lean body mass (I use myfitnesspal to track my macros). The next challenge will be posted next week. Also it may be tougher with eating takeout and catered food, but have you looked into paleo/primal at all?
16. Solid results! And being a non smoker is great, are all the cravings gone now? I remember having weird triggers that really chewed at me at the most random times for the first 3-4 months.
17. 5'9" (69") at 168 lbs. I'm about a 2.43
18. Awesome job! The 1000 lb club is something I aspire to join someday.
19. Great Job! Maybe next time we'll see the New Laura now with 50% less Bro?
20. Vacations are a form of working on your mental health, so I'd say you were successful!
21. And sometimes that also means walking into/inheriting someones mess. I've done that before... poor documentation and bad or inconsistent programming standards make for a very difficult time getting up to speed. (Thankfully I didn't stay long with that company and work for a much much better place now)
22. Amazing Job! Congrats on the new Diggs, numbers and commitment to progress!
