  1. Heh, I think I got all that stuff from hanging out around my grandpa all summer when I was a kid. I'd help him on his property / farm and we'd hand out all summer. And I totally want a top hat and monocle now, roo.
  2. Wow, today blows. I didn't sleep a wink last night. Dog freaked out right as I was falling asleep, (he never even barks normally) and I heard a noise. Grabbed the gun to investigate but either it was nothing or the dog scared it off. But after that, I couldn't get to sleep and somehow ended up with heartburn. So exhausted as I am, I decided to try and salvage what I could of the day with a workout. Wouldn't you know I somehow tweaked my back at some point during the day and just couldn't get the weight up. Decided to take it lighter today after failing at 185 on the squat... sucks... 4. Feeling pretty sore from yesterday, decided to keep it to some cardio and stretching so: Running outdoors 4:35 @ .5 miles Yoga 27 minutes Definitely feel much better after that. Food then some Diablo III buddy!
  5. I'm not very old (28) but I enjoy old time things a lot. I SR shave exclusively, listen to old radio shows around the camp fire, sharpen all knives/blades/axes with a big grinding wheel and many other oldish things.
  6. Woot for the wife joining you! I've tried but my wife has no desire to lift heavy things with me. Good luck with your relaxing.
  7. Hah, as I don't have a rumble roller yet, I used a rolling pin today. Seemed to do the trick!
  8. Make sure to supplement that diet with a boat load of vegetables. Fruits still have a ton of natural sugar, so if you are looking to cut some weight, moderate their intake. Use something like MyFitnessPal to track your calories for the day.
  9. Wow, that looks awesome! I've gone hiking in the Adirondacks many times and I don't think I've climbed anything that looks that steep. Did the fog break at all?
  10. 1600/1600 meters @ 45 lbs done! That was pretty brutal.
  11. Monday, funday! Well, it really wasn't but it is better now. Workouts done! Running (treadmill) 5:00 min @ 0.5 mi Farmer's Walk 400 m @ 45 lb !!!DONE FINALLY!!! 12. Week 2 Summary Workout 5 Days a week (3 of which must be lifting) - Yep, solid effort here! Increase my bench press to my body weight (currently 150lbs shooting for 170lbs), increase my Deadlift to over 230 (old 200)lbs and Squats to over 200 lbs (180 lbs currently). An overall increase of adding 60lbs (90 with new goals) to my working weight. So far so good: BP is 160 (10 more to go), Squats are 185 (15 more to go) and DL is 215 (15 more to go) Get off my butt and start running and do mobility exercises. Really, it is the one thing I can never get myself to do and I need to. Just got a pair of Vibrams so my goal is to run a 3 - 5 miles a week. The parade did help and so did the farmers carry, but I do need to do better on this one. Finish building my workout room. So far, I'm making some good progress. Another 2 weeks should take care of the rest of the cardboard, then it is just building the extra stuff and setting it up. Today is MOAR DLs. Woot!
  13. So, weekend update. Diet was terribad all weekend. All well, but I did manage to get in a small workout. 800 meter farmers walk with 45 lb plates in each hand. 3x10 push up. 3x10 @ 135 lbs barbell rows 3x10 burpee 3x10 @ 35 lbs(each) dumbbell lunges.
  14. 1200/1600 meters. Almost there.
  15. I tried this recipe for zucchini to get started: http://www.theclothesmakethegirl.com/2011/08/18/comfort-noodles/ I also bought a spirooli which makes making a zucchini noodles a cinch.
  16. I write with my right hand but draw with my left mostly. Sometimes I switch it up, but when I was in grade school I was forced to write right handed because the teachers made me.
  17. I have those same cravings every now and then for comfort food (pizza, pasta, etc...) especially when I've had a bad day at work. I've been using, cauliflower pizza, spaghetti squash, and zucchini noodles to do the trick. My wife and I are very much foodies (not so much baking but I love cooking... a lot!) and its doing a good job of curbing those problems.
  18. I have a pull up bar rig already set up, by building a pseudo door frame(just the top part) nailed to the rafters in the basement and bought one of those door frame pull up thingys. With your stuff outside though, that probably wouldn't work, but yeah, if you put some 4x4s cemented into the ground that would work.
  19. When I first started working out I stopped drinking (beer, wine, scotch... mmmm scotch) and didn't change much else. Ended up dropping about 15 pounds my first month, I allow myself to drink now and then again, but not nearly as much and my diet is much better. Alcohol has a few effects other than just liquid calories, one of which is poor judgment and when I was intoxicated I would cram food in my mouth when I wasn't even really hungry.
  20. Today's exersize: 5 mile parade walk, in my suit, dress shoes and masonic apron. Now that I'm done looking funny and waving (seriously 2 hours of hand waving, all dressed up and 78 degrees out!) its time to get my grill on. Family should arrive in a few hours.
  21. You will get that pull up! Also, I'm jelly of your NF meetup at the gun range. That is all.
  22. Reason #1 to not scrap it. Also, I've been using the one I've built and it's working fantastically and holding up well. Do you have a door frame anywhere close for the chin up bar? As for a lat machine, I'm starting to look into an effective way to make one.
  23. Yeah, it was fun and a nice warm up with just the bar. I really want to slap a few 45's on it and try it as challenge. Right now I know I'd fail because I can't OHP 135 yet but someday, oh yes, someday I will conquer the bear, *evil laugh*.
  24. Congrats! Oh, do you still have arms after doing that? I imagine he wasn't pleased with your actions, and subsequently ripped your arms off.
