  1. Thanks! I had a play last night - did an ab-heavy yoga workout, then some floor chest presses (hmm, might need to find something to raise my body with, don't get enough range of motion on the floor), rows, squats, lunges and shoulder presses. I can see why dudebros skip leg day - aieeee! Still feeling those squats today! Even though I'm only using wee little weights Is there a good deadlifty thing I can try with DBs?
  2. Hey nerds, I'd like to start lifting a few times a week from home. I have a motley collection of dumbbells, a floor and a yoga mat. Can anyone recommend a good basic selection of moves for whole body strength? Thanks! [emoji8] 35yo chick, currently horse riding, walking and yoga-ing. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk

  4. Things that don't help disciplined eating: - selling chocolates for charity. Meaning there's a box of 50 odd chocolates at home, and another at work, giving me saucy looks all the livelong day... - finding a dead dude. And being a stress eater. With chocolates in the house... Anyhoo, I'm trying to log any wickedness, and keep moving moving.
  5. Okies, so even though I posted this today, I have been on the challenge-wagon for 3 days. Food logged, check. Exercise - Monday and Tuesday, silly Wii-dancing - still totally counts as cardio! - and today, 2 sets of the BBW circuit. Brain - essay writing - blergh!
  6. So, third time lucky? Have tried a couple of challenges before, but Life got in the way... but going to try try try again! So, my goals... 1. Log my calorie intake on Myfitnesspal, and try to stay within budget (one cheat day a week allowed) 2. Strength train at least twice a week. At the moment, going with the Beginner Bodyweight routine, but might chuck some free weights in as time goes on. 3. Cardio work at least twice a week. Riding my horse doesn't count, unless I do some serious flatwork. 4. Keep that brain ticking! Either study for my course (in addition to going to class) or research Something Interesting at least twice a week. Why? Because when my body is active and I eat better, I feel better... (well, duh!) Because going back to uni doesn't give me a free pass on diet/exercise. Because I want to feel strong and capable, not bloblike. Let's go!
  7. I have nothing to add to this conversation, except that Starbuck and Claudia Black/Aeryn are my fitness inspirations too... yay scifi girls!
  8. I'm thinking of doing my first ever cosplay next year at Swancon in Perth, Oz. Shooting for Aeryn Sun from Farscape - costume should be pretty easy, but I'll need to be in good shape to rock leather pants! So a most excellent fitness goal I lack costume making skills, so need lower-effort characters *blushes* Starbuck from BSG would be cool too, but I don't know that I could do blonde hair!
  9. Kim Kardashian has been giving me a hard time for the last few weeks. Trouble sleeping, trouble waking, trouble giving a crap about anything... most noticeable at work, where I'm just struggling to care enough to do even a mediocre job hoping it will blow over soon, because it sucks!
  10. Dude, I WISH I had the body/confidence to rock booty shorts! *dreams*
  11. I chose not to think about the silly bits, and just squeed like a maniac the whole movie through

  13. I had some killer periods back in the day - now I take the pill, and skip them most of the time (maybe have a period 3-4 times a year). Heaven!
  14. Banana pancakes! Squash one large banana, stir in an egg, maybe a tablespoon of nut butter or LSA if you like, then cook like a pancake. So good!
  15. Farscape!!! Pushing Daisies isn't exciting, as such, but it's wonderfully quirky, and pretty damn funny. X Files Half-hour shows you could back-to-back Community The IT Crowd The Inbetweeners (British version) Clone Wars
  16. If you can overcome the perkiness.... (argh! the happy! it burns) these are great http://www.blogilates.com/animated-gifs/fabulous-flat-abs-gif-from-pilates-bootcamp
  17. Prodigy, Mindfields... This is dangerous!
  18. Get her a Wii, and some good jumping/dancing around games? Accidental exercise is better than none at all... And once those endorphins start flowing, maybe she'll get inspired to seek them out.
  19. Guacomole! Make your own - my recipe is super basic - squooshed avocadoes, chopped up tomatoes, lemon juice and seasoning.
