  1. went to another class last week, and this time, it was held at a playground. we warmed up in the field with joint looseners, squats, squat walks, QM's and such. the QM's we drilled were the Cat Walk, the Crab Walk, the Push-Pull Crawl (aka Army Crawl) and one where you are are your back, push with one heel and move with the opposite elbow. we proceeded to a set of monkey bars and learned some traverses: the basic one where you face perpendicularly to the bar and move sideways, and the Power Traverse (facing parallel to bar, one hand goes in front of the other and you swing the opposite leg forward to the hand that goes forward). these were great, but I tore off four calluses in the process! next, we moved to the Chin-Up Bars to learn some dangles and pop-ups. i really enjoyed the pop-ups and wished that my calluses were not torn so that i could have done them better! we went back to the Monkey Bars thereafter and learned a move whose name has escaped my memory. basically, you are in a basic dangle, pull up, get into a position where your arms are crossed inwards with your hands touching and parallel to the top bar. then, you swing your legs forwards and backwards and, with the backwards momentum, unfold your arms and push up onto your elbows. this was cool but tough because i had torn more calluses and was pretty spent by this time! we ended the lesson with 5 reps of an obstacle course: traverse across the monkey bars to the platform, Cat Walk up it, Crab Walk down it, Push-Pull crawl over to this little ladder thing, then do the QM where you are on your back through the ladder rungs. MovNat = intense, unorthodox fun watch those calluses, though!
  2. the town of Lahaina is as activity-full as you can get. the wife and i spent some time there on our Honeymoon, and we went parasailing, swam in the beach, shopped and went on a dinner cruise. you wanna do it? you can find it in Lahaina!
  3. crosspost from my current challenge thread... yesterday (Sunday) was my workout day, and i worked out by attending my very first MovNat class. it was LOADS of fun (future pun intended). we began with some joint-loosening warmups, and then we proceeded to learn lifts & carries. using a 15-pound medicine ball, we learned how to deadlift it with proper form and then clean it. we drilled those skills a bit, and then we learned some different methods of carrying it: against the waist in either a fingers-crossed, S or Gable grip, and against the chest. when we deomstrated that we could carry it properly, we learned some different throws: swinging from between the legs (the way some people bowl), thrusting it from the chest in a non-lofty shotput-sorta manner and finally swinging it from the side like you are on an assembly line. Coach next took us on a brief run on a trail into the woods where we demonstrated our newfound skills by lifting and carrying boulders, walking with them to a spot where we finally threw them. on the way, we ascended and descend small hills, which presented us with the opportunity to move the boulders while traveling in QM (Quadrupedal Motion). while more difficult to move the boulder this way, it is also more difficult to slip & fall down the incline/decline than if you were to walk! we did the Cat Walk up the hill while pushing the boulder and the Crab Walk down with the boulder in our lap. the final task was to do some lifting, carrying and walking with...HEAVY LOGS! this involved the same techniques with a few added quirks because of the cumbersome nature of the logs. we deadlifted one end as high as possible, then squatted down so that the log leaned against us and then cleaned it the rest of the way up so that it stood perpendicular to the ground. using the deadlift and clean motion another time, we lifted the log onto our shoulders.we then walked around with them and eventually set them back down. this was a lot of fun. i enjoy training this way more than i ever have training in a gym, playground or backyard.

  5. ahh, sorry! i meant to convey "2 sets of 7 to the front, 6 to the left on outside leg and 6 to the right on outside leg." thanks for your feedback, Nuala!
  6. way to go, keep rocking it! as for eating wile traveling, consider this.
  7. did a 20 (more or less) minute workut before going to eat sushi last night. here is what i accomplished. -squats: 20 normal, 5 slow -precision rail deep knee-bends: ~11 -pushups front and sides: 766, 766 -laying elbows & forearms flat on ground from pushup position -QM's: straight leg gallop fwd & back, crouch walk fwd & back -handstands: 2sec, 3 sec, 4 sec, 2 sec for the past two days, while experimenting with intermittent fasting, i have skipped breakfast to spend an hour working on Key Growth activities for my business. hence, i have completed the first draft of my brochure. HUZZAH!!
  8. i go to my first MovNat class in Houston this Sunday, and i am psyched. it will be run by the same people that run my Parkour classes. shall i report how it goes on this thread?
  9. went back to Parkour last night after having taken a month off. here's what we did... - warmed up with the joint loosening regimen - 11 pushups - countless squats and deep knee-bends - bouncing on toes while in deep knee-bend, then occasionally jumping up as high as possible (KILLER) - getting into plank position, then placing our elbows down on the ground one by one and bringing them back up - QM's: catwalk fwd&bwd, gallop fwd&bwd, side gallop both sides, crouch walk (what i have been calling the squat walk) fwd&bwd - sprint to & up a hill, then running down & back at 50-75% the rest of the class was balancing technique. i had taken a balancing class already, so it was mostly review for me. however, i re-drilled everything which is good. we walked all around these concrete railings, forwards and backwards, occasionally pivoting and squatting. when you squat while balancing on a rail, the technique is more like a deep knee-bend, and i had been doing that wrong on my own, so i am glad to have gotten that reminder. eventually, we did the catwalk on the rails. that is not too difficult for me, but it will get easier as i increase my strength. so how does this go back to my goals? my mobility training made my squatting easier and will continue to do so. my upper body strength will help with catwalking on rails. finally, the fundamentals of balance are now fresh in my head and will be applied to my handstand training. my life goal is giving me difficulty. i have the equivalent of Writer's Block with generating ideas for Key Growth Activities. i have got my website, my FB page, my solid business model but i have not yet made a sale. i am working on a three-fold brochure to hand out. i have some friends who are interested in my service, and i have been working on turning the tip with them. i am also planning on starting a local Meetup group from which i can generate a small community of people that may not be interested in running out to pay me but interested in learning what i have to offer and information i can share. from there, they will spread the word, slowly develop interest and i will meet people i can hire or team up with in the future. other than that, i can think of very few other ways to get a paying customer. i welcome your advice; visit my website to see what my business is about. thank you, fellow assassins, for reading and encouraging me!
  10. i admire your diet discipline. stick to it, and you will soar. i have been having similar difficulty lately in adhering to the Bulletproof diet. it is a work in progress, and you know what they say about Rome not being built in a day!
  11. it has been great for me. i have learned so much, and i have so much fun during each class. i am sad to hear that you had an experience that was less-than-wholesome with someone there. would you be able to tell me who it was - instructor? classmate?
  12. worked out last Wednesday. here are my results... -pushups front and side-to-side: 666, 666 --> BAM! -squats: normal speed, slow, on precision rail and Barbarian Squat w/ sledgehammer -QM's: straight-leg gallop, squat walk -handstands : 1, 3, 3, 1 -iron death ball: rest-pauses - 50lb, 11 reps; clean & jerk - 20lb, 11 reps each arm - sledgehammer: John Henrys, Paul Bunyans, Stakhanov's Shovel, Canoe, Heil Odins stretched out at end
  13. I warm up with a head to toe joint loosening regime, then do squats, pushups and Quadripedal Motion. sometimes i will jog forwards, backwards and sideways depending on my motivation. i like to work out with my two Iron Death Balls (some folks call them Kettlebells); one is 20 pounds for single arm stuff, and the other is 50 for double arm stuff. then, i will do some workouts with a sledgehammer. those are soooo much fun! i will do these either in my backyard or at Agnes Moffitt park. i also take Parkour lessons twice a week with an organization called Urban Movement. if you are interested in that form, i will highly recommend it. i LOVE it. they have a facility in the heights, and they have outdoor classes downtown at Tranquility Park. what you into?
  14. tonight, i updated the About page on the website of my side business. scratch one growth-related activity for the week! you should check it out here.
  15. my workout days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday. i work out after 5pm. how bout you?
