  1. I am just so excited! I've been doing Paleo for just over a week. I was planning not to step on the scales until the end of the month but decided to sneak a peek this morning...8.4 pounds down! Yes, I know some is water weight but I also know I've been dieting before Paleo so it shouldn't be all water weight. And honestly, I don't care...the reason I stepped on the scale to start with was because I could feel my rings slipping off. So YAY ME!
  2. Wow! I know you are feeling good! That's great work...keep it up!!
  3. I'm on my first challenge as well. Great goal with the pushups and savings. I remember grad school too well. Saving $250 will be an accomplishment. You can do this!
  4. Siuken, I'm a newbie as well and looking forward to getting started on this challenge. Great having you on board as well!
  5. Okay, let me just get this out of the way. I have never played an RPG in my life (unless you count playing house in elementary school). So please, please be patient with me. About me, I am a 49 year old woman living in the southern US. I work as a school psychologist in an elementary and high school. I have always been overweight due to trying to eat my way through emotions. In 2005, I weighed in at my all time high of 315. I joined WW and managed to get down to 290. In 2008, my husband and I went through a very rough patch, separating a couple of times. That pushed me down to 235. However, once things settled down, my weight bounced right back up. As of August 1, I was sitting at 271.8. Before I had lost so much, I never really realized what I had been missing. At 235 I felt the urge to run. At 235 I had energy. At 235 I was keeping my act together. Now I know....and I want it back. So here are my goals: FITNESS GOALS 1) Follow the Paleo eating plan. (CON=5) I've been doing this for a week now (started as a Whole 30 mission) and am feeling great. No dairy, no caffeine, no breads or pastas. The only thing I haven't completely let go of is Splenda. Hopefully that will be gone by the end of the week. 2) Complete the Beginners Body Weight Routine three times a week. (STR=3) I really need some system of strength training but don't want to worry about lifting weights or hitting the gym. 3) Walk or ride my bike two times a week. (STA=2;DEX=2) My husband and I were up to riding 22 miles twice a week but it's been so hot, we've kind of given up the last couple of months. I really want to get back into this as it was a huge help in dealing with stress. LIFE GOAL 4) Complete the bathroom makeover. (WIS=2;CHA=1) My house is in a state of CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome). The first step for me is having a bathroom that is presentable. NOW LET'S GET STARTED!
  6. Thanks for the encouragement. I started yesterday on Paleo. By the end of the day, I thought my head was going to explode! I ended up going to bed early and slept for almost twelve hours. I had no idea I had been drinking so much caffeine. Today has been much better. One thing I forgot to add, I weighed myself yesterday and won't do it again until September 1.
  7. Hi all! Not sure how I stumbled across this site but I am so thrilled. I've done other sites but I really like to real-world feel to this one. I have always had a weight issue and am tired of it. At my all time high, I weighed 316. I managed to get down to 230 but have since gone back to 270. This has to stop and I am the only one who can do it. I know that. But I also know I need support and I think (especially after reading all the rules) that this is the place. My goals for the month of August include starting the Paleo approach to eating. I'm not sure how I can give up my afternoon iced coffee but I will try. I also will start working out in some form everyday for at least 20 minutes. I have already scheduled the time on my calendar. Just a little personal info, I am not a game player but I love nothing more than good books and movies. I live in a household with a science teacher and two geeky girls. Right now, our main goal is to hit Dragon-Con in September! I'd love to have ten pounds dropped by then.
