  1. wow it has been busy school let back in so (being a tech for a school division) life got crazy hectic. Just an update, Karate is back in, I hurt myself when i was trying jogging so the splits were put on hold but i managed before that to do horse stance for 2 and a half minutes and 35 tricep pushups in 60 seconds. and that meditation headspace app is amazing i have recommeded it to my whole class. thank you to all for your suggestions.
  2. I was using the tried and true method for timing my meditation of waiting for the wife to ask "what are you doing?" or "do you wanna watch something?". usually 20 - 30 minutes. I do love the headspace app idea I downloaded that today. I think I will try meditating in the splits also a very good idea.
  3. Been trying the stretches that were recommended, and horse stance teeth brushing. the meditation has been difficult. Great ideas by all. might not try meditating in horsse stance quite yet but that seems like a good long term goal for after the challenge. 30 minutes in the horse stance is amazing! I see I have my work cut out for me to reach that level.
  4. A friend sent this site to me as I am a huge nerd (computer tech, comic book fan, gamer, etc.). I love all the articles I have read. Hoping I am doing this right. I had a hard time choosing my class but I believe because I have immense love for karate (thanks to my Sensei) that monk is the right fit. Granted I am fairly new to it. I have only been in it for a year and a half. I am a Yellow belt with my orange stripe. I Decided to set goals to prepare for the next season starting in September. Kinda want to test for orange belt by November. Fitness goals: 1) 30 tricep pushups in a row. I only need to be able to do 20 but I like to be ready for a surprise 2) Horse stance for 3 minutes (I really hate sitting in horse stance) 3) do the splits. Not sure how doable this one is since I am still a good 10 -15 inches off the ground but worth a solid shot. Life goal: Learn to slow down. I will be attempting 30 minutes a day of meditation. Force myself to sit still for a minute or 30. I would love any tips or improvements to my goals. Suggestions are always welcomed with a smile. I realize I have a lot to learn in training but I figure this is a good starting point. Can’t improve if you don’t start.
