I'm really upset with myself. At the start of the last 6 week challenge I had to go on a family holiday, so couldn't complete the challenge. However, when I got back I'd lost all motivation, so in short, I gave up :'( but I've just got back from another holiday and this time I want to stay motivated! I'm going to start swimming again and going to the gym more often, as well as eating healthier. I hope I'll be back on track soon, but I could do with a little encouragement every now and then. I'm going to see my favorite band, One Direction, live in concert in February next year, and I want to have lost a few pounds by then
So yeah, I just really want to keep at it this time
No more mr nice guy, hahaha

I am 14 and have recently really liked the idea of starting Parkour. People are saying that 14 is the perfect age to start (not sure if this is true though) but I would like to start as soon as possible. I am trying to do regular exercise to help build up my strength, but I still have a long way to go.
But after watching countless hours worth on Parkour videos on youtube I realised how far off I was.
I can't do flips unless I'm on a trampoline (and they're just standard flips..), my stamina is pretty bad at the moment (though I'm working on that), I don't think I've ever vaulted anything in my life, and people always say that my balance is awful. Now I'm starting to realise that this is going to be a lot more difficult than expected, and I expected it to be VERY difficult!!
So what I really want to ask is, can I still learn all this stuff? Well obviously I can, but will I be able to learn it well enough to apply in in Parkour? I am particularly worried about the flips. I've always wanted to be able to do flips, but I've never done it..
Is there a way I can learn Parkour safely without going to classes or a special gym, and will it still be effective?
Do you need to have a specific 'body build' to be able to be successful in Parkour?
And what is the best way to learn flips, and other stuff like that?
I'm a true beginner in this and I don't want to mess it up and get hurt.
Thank you!!!

My name is Freja, I'm only 14 but I have recently had a new interest in sports and fitness. I want to loose some weight, build up muscle and have fun at the same time. I've never really been a typically sporty person, but I want to change that. My real aim is to start parkour. I just think that it is an amazing extream sport and one that I would really like to become a part of. However, to achieve this goal I first need to improve my health, stamina, strength and self control. That's where this site comes in.
So, my aims for the next six weeks are:
To run 1 mile without stopping (yes, I really am that unfit)
To do 2X50 squats per day
To start training for parkour (building up muscle strength)
and
To keep my house/room tidy (typical teenager )
I will try to achieve these goals by taking them one step at a time, while still pushing myself. I wanted to make goals that I could reach but that are challenging enough to make a possitive impact on my life. I hope to make habits now that will stay with me forever.. Sounds cheesy, but its true.
Anyway, wish me luck!!!
Lets try this again..

No, I haven't really given it much thought. I think I'll try again on the goals I set myself for the last challenge though but I might change them a bit too
