  1. Kick Fast Food Dairy binged this week. I'm lactose intolerant.D 2500 Calories Less calories per day this week. More beer too. F Yoga/exercise Only did 3 days of yoga. D Get a Job Still focusing on helping my mom move about every day. I applied for one job and I think I may start doing part-time private transport for a little cash. D Drinking is definitely getting in the way of my goals. I have to get in control of that before I'll make any gains.
  2. Week two is starting and I think it's time for a progress check. Kick fast food: I did pretty well on this one, I haven't eaten any fast food. However, some of the stuff I put in it's place isn't exactly healthy, like highly processed sandwich bread and deli meat. Overall I think I earned a B. Eat 2500 Calories a day: I succeeded completely in this goal, but only if you count beer. The goal says eat 2500 calories and I've been hovering around 2000 or less all week. C Regular fitness Schedule: I did 5 days of yoga, not bad. I have also been keeping a yoga journal which is helpful. No strength training but I did move enough furniture to be sore the next day. My canoeing trip got canceled due to rain. I'd say C- Get a job: My car broke down. F Overall I did pretty good this week, with plenty room for improvement. A lot of challenges have presented themselves as well, so taking this to the next level is going to be difficult.
  3. As a matter of fact REI is on my list, especially with the retail season coming up. I did not know about the hobby thing though, a discount was good enough for me. I'd be pretty tempted to go for kayaking as my hobby. Boats are expensive. My get a job goal is getting a bit postponed right now though because everyone in my family is moving and I'm the one with a truck. Lifting furniture is good exercise though.
  4. I don't know where you live, but a good way to emulate the hot yoga experience might be to learn the routines and do them outside. It's easily 95f+ here on most days.
  5. Fellow unemployed person popping in to say good luck out there. So good luck out there.
  6. I like the straightforwardness of these goals It's like you've done this before or something.
  7. I have yet to work at a fast food place, but I've worked at a gas station and it's hard to not just graze on crap food all shift. I've never heard of Jamie Oliver's TV show but his recipes seem good. A lot of them are a bit out of my league, but I marked a few. I've made it through the past two days without fast food, and it hasn't been too bad. I even went to the grocery store. I forgot how tough yoga is in the beginning, so I started a yoga journal since my food journal has been so helpful. No strength training yet this week unfortunately, but tomorrow I'm going on a canoeing trip. No job yet either.
  8. Hello everybody. This is my first challenge - I've been lurking for a few weeks now and decided to join up and participate. I like yoga, backpacking, farming and adventuring in general. I've fallen into a rut since last winter but I have been slowly pulling out of it. I've always been a hard-gainer and whenever I get into a rut I drop any weight and muscle I've worked to build very quickly. Right now I am managing to stay just below 140, and thats only thanks to a diet of beer and fast food (I'm 6'4" btw). This brings me to my goals: Kick fast food Most of my calories come from fast food, so this one will be tough. I definitely need to spend more time in the kitchen, and the grocery store for that matter. Eat more that 2500 calories a day One reason I have a hard time putting on weight is I have a hard time eating enough calories. I'm going at this goal one step at a time but by the final few weeks I hope to get there (without fast food). Have a regular fitness schedule I'm at my best when I do yoga at least 6 days a week, so that will be my basis for fitness. on top of that I'd like to add in 3 days of strength training, and one adventure per week. The adventure isn't that tough, at least not in the warm months, as I usually find time to get out that much already, but I'd like to make it point. Get a job that helps me with my diet/fitness goals. I am currently unemployed, and I would like to get a job that is beneficial to me, in an aspect besides money. I've gotten my resume together already, and I'm planning on applying to outdoor stores and some health food places. I have some good tools in place to complete my challenge. I have been keeping a food journal for over week now with no signs of stopping. I've done some good research to focus what I already know about yoga - I'll be working on a more vinyasa/flow style. I've never used a resume before but I'm hoping it will prove worthwhile. If these six weeks go at least a little according to plan, for the next challenge I'll be able to focus on some more exciting and tougher things than just "stop eating garbage and laying around on the couch."
