1. Howdy mate! I was not so long ago addicted to coke, what really helped me was switching to carbonated water like Perrier. You get the bubbles but not the sugar. Have you considered using the Tabata protocol?
2. Actually if we do kill one our first meal is heart and liver for sure. We've been joking about the oysters, might give it a try. We need to check with the law though because I believe that the sexual organs of the animal need to be intact at the registering station. Probably to avoid poaching. Here we're mostly used to muscle meat because we have it in abundance, but as soon as you get in the less industrialized places they don't waste anything when they kill an animal. Now I'm looking for a way to cook them eyes... I'll have picture of that if we do eat them.
3. Second challenge incoming. Here are my fitness goals. 1 - [ +1 STR, +1 DEX, +2 CON, +2 STA ] Train for a minimum of 45 minutes 5 times a week. 2 - [ +2 STR, +2 STA ] At the end of this challenge I should be able to do : 100 consecutive pushups, 5 consecutive chinups and 200 consecutive situps. 3 - [ +1 CHA] Lose at least 10 pounds. My life goal : 1 - [ +2 WIS +1 CON ] Sleep at least 7 hours per night. Bonus life goal : 2 - [ +1 CHA ] Kill and eat a moose! (Some may ask, why CHA? Well who doesn't like the good old huntsman beard?) I've set more generic fitness goals this time. I hope that this way, I'll find more than one way to train. Also, moose hunting. First week I'll be in the woods with a few friends so I'm planning to do lots of walking and other bodyweight exercises. Might also lift/pull some heavy weight if we manage to get our moose. If we get one it's going to help me start with a more paleo diet. Can't be more paleo than that meat wise. So since I'll be deep in the woods, far away from net and even telephone facilities no updates before September 30th. I've seen a few other doing the 100 pushups challenge... Maybe we could start a PvP thread! If one of you do, I'll jump in when I'm back. Good luck everyone!
4.
Goals Possible Attributes Grade Earned Attributes Goal 1 - Kettlebell LCCJ 50 reps. (2x20kg) +3 STR +2 STA C Got it up to 40 reps. +1.5 STR +1 STA Goal 2 - 14000 Swings Challenge (20kg) +3 STA +2 CON A Managed to do over 14000. +3 STA +2 CON Goal 3 - Walk/run the dog 5 times a weeks for 30 minutes or more +1 STA +1 CON A Success : 111.8 km walked and/or runned with the dog +1 STA +1 CON Goal 4 - Eat fresh / Cook everything I eat for the challenge duration +1 CON +1 WIS +1 CHA C - Could have done better, especially on weekends. +1 WIS Because I've discovered my weekend weakness.
I'm quite happy with myself, I think my goals did challenge me and now I realize that I have to keep challenging myself. This challenge made me realize that having concrete goals and posting my workouts log motivated me a lot. I've also went from 2-3 hours of exercises a week to 6-8 hours per week. Bonus : ~8 pounds lost. I'm looking forward the next challenge.
5. So here are the results of these intense six weeks. My fitness goals : Long Cycle Clean and Jerk : Maxed at 40 reps in 10 minutes tonight during my test, that's a total of 8 more reps than when I started. Needed 10 more to achieve the goal. 14 000 Swings challenge : Nailed this one. This actually made swings the principal component of my workouts, I also believe it hindered my progress for the LCCJ, mostly because it killed my forearms. It was an awesome test of will tho, quite happy to have completed that one. Dog walks : Completed! Since I've been walking him regularly, my dog make sure to remind me that I need to take him outside at 9pm. This, I'm quite sure, will continue in the weeks to come. Life goal : Cook everything. That was hard, and sadly I failed to complete this one as well. I've been cooking and eating tons of fresh food, but life was waiting around the corner and we had to travel a lot and restaurant was practical choice when on the road. I've also learned that even if I have more time on the weekends, I wait until it's almost too late to prepare food for the family. This leads to prepackaged food and or restaurant. Besides all this I've lost quite a few pounds and I'm quite sure I've put some lean meat on my carcass. My ending weight being : 245 pounds. So what's next?
6. Tested the long cycle clean and jerk. 10 minutes : 40 reps with 2x20kg. 40 minute walk with the dog. This completes this challenge.
7. Wenesday September 12th 325 Swings 20kg 45 minutes walk with the dog. Thursday September 13th 150 Swings 20kg. 100 Swings 32kg. 40 minutes walk/run with the hound. SWING OBJECTIVE DONE : 14025/14000.
8. Love the walk idea! Any special rewards when you'll reach the intermediate objectives?
9. Monday September 10th 125 Swings 20kg 50 pushups 25 goblet squats 20kg 25 snatch 20kg (L/R) 125 situps 50 Inverted row. 40 minute walk with the dog. Tuesday September 11th 300 Swings 20kg. 20 Seesaw press 20kg. 50 situps 40 pushups 20 tactical lunge 20kg 10 windmills (L/R) 35 minutes walk/run with the dog.
10. Howdy! I've using a HR monitor for all my training/goal activities during this goal. The one I use is the strap model that came with my Garmin Forerunner 405CX. Paid around 150$ about a year ago for it, it's a great thing if hard data helps motivate you. It have GPS for when I go out and I can disable it for indoor activities. It'll record lots of information, heart rate, calories, distance, pace, etc... Also data can be accessed in different formats. Lot at the attachment I've added in my thread : Calendar view for August Hope it'll help you.
11. Friday September 7th 40 minutes dog walk. Sunday September 9th 300 Swings 20kg. 35 minutes dog walk / run.
12. Mini update! Since my journey goes rather well I'm going to post some data. This is the report gathered from the Garmin watch. I'll post more detailed infos if peoples are interested. Enjoy.
13. 500 Swings (20kg/24kg/32kg) Repetitions per arm/direction using a 20kg kettlebell : 8x Pistol clean and press. 60x Around the body. 20x Windmills.
