  1. Time for an update! Week 3 is completed and Week 4 is under way. Goal 1: Journaling -- still struggling with this one. When I exercise, I remember to do it, but I keep forgetting to record my food. I'm probably going to start putting my food in a note on my phone and transferring it to the journal later. Maybe I can find an app that will be a comprehensive solution. Grade C Goal 2: Traveling -- did great on this one! Week 2 I walked and hiked about 12 miles, and Week 3 I did a whopping 34 miles, most of it in Yosemite with quite a bit wandering around Berkeley and Oakland. Grade A+
  2. Hmm the post I made yesterday seems not to be appearing. Just got home about 15 minutes ago and I'm wiped out from a long day of flying and driving. Full update tomorrow and I'll make the rounds to see how all the awesome rebels have been doing!
  3. Internet access is intermittent right now, but the conference was great and hiking in Yosemite was fantastic! I'm nursing some blisters and other minor injuries right now, but totally worth it. Keeping on with the being heroic whenever possible (the last couple of uphill miles on the Merced trail yesterday required a fair amount of heroism I think). Hopefully I'll be able to get another hike in before I return to Texas. I'll do a full update this weekend after I get home!
  4. Thanks for the encouragement! Flight leaves today at 2pm. Everything is ready to go. The next couple of days are filled with conference activities in Los Angeles. Goals: be social, make professional acquaintances, learn lots, and DON'T BE SHY. Look for opportunities to be awesome and heroic. Then, on to San Francisco Bay area, specifically Berkeley, for epic hiking and various other adventures. I'll probably just be doing short posts from my phone once in awhile for the next week and a half.
  5. "Interesting" was definitely supposed to be a compliment.
  6. LOL... that's fantastic looking mail. I meet the most interesting people on this site.
  7. Spezzy has a post on the guild crests here And hoping you rocked the hard hat today!
  8. Hmm your chainmail pictures are taking more than 4 minutes to appear... <taps foot>... Chalk one up in the win column!!
  9. Gobnait and terosx, those are both excellent ideas! Especially while traveling for the next couple of weeks.
  10. Virtue for Week 2: Heroism Furthermore, we have not even to risk the adventure alone; for the heroes of all time have gone before us; the labyrinth is thoroughly known; we have only to follow the thread of the hero-path. And where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god; where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outward, we shall come to the center of our own existence; and where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world. Joseph Campbell, The Hero with a Thousand Faces I was going to pick adventureso
  11. Just found your paleo recipes over in the food forum, and some of them look fantastic! Glad to see you've had a good first week of the challenge!
  12. Welcome back to the Adventurers! Subbing so I can see your progress. And better late than never!
  13. Planning and preparation gets you most of the way to success! Good job!
