  1. Doing some physical therapy for the knee. Biking at least 4 mornings a week. Trying to transition into a paleo + dairy (greek yogurt is probably the only dairy I eat) type diet. Oh, got a promotion at work. Pretty exciting stuff.
  2. Crap, it's been a while. Well, the 5K was okay..... seeemed pretty unorganized, but oh well. Knee still hurts to run, in fact I walked to the farmer's market and back (for some sweet potatoes and apples) and knee started to give me grief. On the plus side, cycling does not hurt it, so I did that a few times this week in the morning. Diet has been crap. I give myself an F.
  3. Stir crazy x 8. Going to volunteer for a 5k today. Then to the Maple Leaf Festival!
  4. So, tried to run Monday morning, only made it about a mile before I had to turn back (walking). Went to the doctor to get the wife off my back. Doctor said the same thing I was going to do (not run for a week). I'm still doing strength training. Still digging it. So, stepped on the scale yesterday, holy crap, gained quite a few pounds. So, I skipped breakfast and lunch, and had a light dinner. (Only way this worked is because the wife has an evening class). Since she has one tomorrow, might try to do the same thing. Going a bit stir crazy not being able to run. arg.

    Cliff Bars

What do people think of quest bars?
  6. So went out for a morning run. And my worst fear happened. I got hit by a car. He was stopped, but then turned left. (BRO TIP: If somebody hits you while you are running, get their information, no matter how good/manly you feel). Didn't feel too bad right after, but a half mile later my left knee started to hurt, so much so that I had to stop running and walk home. So I am not even going to try to run tomorrow, I'll go to the doctor Monday if it hurts then.
  7. Been keeping up with the running and the workouts (have another workout tonight). Also been keeping up with yoga on my off days of running (just did some this morning). I have been eating after supper. I feel like I'm not getting enough throughout the day and I am having a hard time finding a way to get it in. I know I should snack, I just have a hard time taking too much more than what I take for lunch, to work.
  8. Snacked a little bit that past couple of nights, but not near as much as I was doing the time before. Also, we skipped out on the Color Run Volunteering. I know, I know. But I will be doing the Maple Leaf one for sure. Been keeping up on the workouts. This week it was Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, with core work on Saturday. Today was my first cold run (I.E. I needed more than just a long sleeve shirt).
  9. Had some problems the past couple of evenings with snacking after supper. I'm trying to figure out what triggers the urge. I might be on to something. Also, the snacking last night led me to cutting my run this morning short. So I think that's enough of a motivation for me to quit, or so I hope. I have been keeping up with my workouts. I have to rearrange this week, but able to get the 3 gym workouts, then one core workout in. Also, my wife decided to sign her and I up to volunteer at the Color Run this weekend. I am will be a "Captain of Fun".
  10. Should I wait until Sunday to log all my miles? (er, meters) Or log them as I accumulate them?
  11. So, Saturday night, I ate too much after supper. Bummer. But, my official time for the 5k was 23:29.5. On Sunday, went and bought some new running shoes (old ones had just over 500 miles, and I made a deal with myself regarding the time of that 5k.) Then went out for an evening run, and just felt great. At work, we had a "health fair". All my numbers are good, which I thought they would be. They measured my body fat percentage, which I think is a bit off. They say I'm 11%, but I do have a little bit of a spare bike tire. About to have some tea, then hit the bed.
  12. So, I'm thinking my 5k time wasn't .... pushing myself enough. Not quite sure on the exact time today, but it was around the 23:40 mark. Won my age group (it was a smaller event, but still a decent size).
  13. I like the attitude. You know how you messed up, but you can rock out the next day still.
  14. Well, ran the past two mornings (just over 3 miles). And the knee felt great today. Looking forward to the 5k tomorrow. Also, did my workout yesterday, so that goal is still going strong. Last night, was "on our own". Unfortunately since I didn't have a "main component" I just kept putting together little snack things (not like snack cakes, like crackers and peanut butter), but didn't have steamed carrots before hand. I'm going to count this as eating after supper though, because I felt like I had too much. On, the volunteering front, I think I found out one I'm going to do. There is a local fall craft's festival (Maple Leaf, for those local to Northeast Kansas, if there are any) that has a 5K attached. I will be helping out with the finish line section. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound as organized as I was hoping. I'm just suppose to "show up".
