  1. Woohoo! Hit 205! I've officially lost half of my target weight loss! (Started at 235, wanna be 175) Stooooked!
  2. I tell ya, with this recent challenge of mine, i've bit off a lot more than i can chew. In the 6 days since i 'quit' (read: put the patch on) I've had 3 smokes. One every 2 days aint bad. Today I've stepped it up (ok, borrowed the idea from SuperOstritch) - if I go this whole week without touching a cig, I get to have shwarma this weekend. (Of course, it'll be without the pita, or rice, but still, its a taste explosion) The running isnt getting easier. And the weight loss has slowed down (So I broke ketosis, and restarted it in hopes it will 'reset' the counter) :S
  3. So I decided to 'one up' my own personal challenge, and just quit smoking altogether.
  4. Walking. Elliptical trainer. Climb stairs. Pedal a stationary bike. Stick to a strict diet. (Oh and get well soon)
  5. Current weight = 208lbs (goal - 200lbs) Current 'maximum running time before failure' = 4 minutes (goal - 10mins) Current Dumbbell Standing Shoulder Press weight = 30pounds (goal - 60)
  6. Smoked less today than usual, thats a start right?
  7. I eat pistachios. Or cheese. Basically any protein is all good pretty much anytime (especially after a workout). So far I've been going for Protein-based munchies (whenever I'm craving) and I've been losing weight steadily. So yeah, most nuts, skim-milk cheese, veggies (not carrots) but like, green peppers, celery with natural peanut butter, broccoli and the like, or even some deli-cut meats like turkey, chicken, etc (oh, and fat-free/sugar-free jello cups are total win) Just go for the stuff that has little to no sugar, little to no carbs, and is protein rich.
  8. Heh, I just came back to WoW. Totally casual, luckily im guildless.
  9. Kristi Smash! Kristi Destroy! RAWR! *thud thud thud*
  10. Nice set of goals! One thing you'll find is once you cut out the refined sugars, weight loss will start to kick in nicely.
  11. We could, accountability is the best form for quitting. (And the fear of being shamed by others)
  12. I prefer to cuddle the puppies Yeah, smoking + fitness forum = I'm the leper of the bunch in that regard.Good luck with the full-on quitting. It ain't easy. I quit for a year once, but rebounded (long story), and then quit again recently for 2 months and rebounded again (kind of for the same reason as the first time).. You'll get the hang of this whole 'healthy' thing, and being a non-smoker makes it about 1000 times easier. Feel free to turn to me when the non-smoking-crazyness kicks in. Its a heck of a hurdle, but it's good once you get past it.
  13. Yeah, if I can quit pepsi (Havent had it in a month) I can quit smoking (again, *sigh*)As for the being so upset you don't eat, that's potentially worse than Emo-snacking. It can screw with your metabolism, blood-sugar levels, and in general is not a good thing. Trying to find other avenues to getting past an emotional time is key. Its mind over matter (sounds easy but being the ruler of your own self isnt as easy as it sounds) Depending on what your stressors are, or what may be upsetting you, you can try and just think about what it is thats gotten you wound up. Then look at what its doing to you. Then think to yourself 'why am I letting this affect me? Look what its doing to me. Its not worth it.' Once you can identify what is causing you distress, and can identify what negative effects it has on you, then you can proactively choose to mentally overcome it. I used to get pissed off over the smallest things in life, but once I was able to identify what it was, what it was doing to me, I made the conscious mental effort to 'not sweat it'. Again, its not easy, but once you can do it, coping with emotions and stress, and the like, becomes a lot easier.
  14. 23 pounds is HUGE! (I dropped 25 since Mid-january, I know how ya feel) Isn't it great how much better you already feel? And it keeps getting better too! (Plus, you really begin to like seeing the difference in the mirror!) Keep up the amazing progress!
  15. Aye, Top-5 and then post a forum-poll/vote thingy. Challenges are fun, I've joined a few on Dailyburn and already destroyed one of them, getting close to demolishing a second challenge. Go Team Nerd-Fitness!
  16. It happens. Life can be a bit of a b**** sometimes. Dieting is not easy. Esp dieting for weightloss. I've done it, that cake on the table looked too delicious, I almost ate half of the damn thing, and felt like dirt after. But, you can use it as motivation to kick your own ass and get back on the path to weightloss and fitness. We're human, we make mistakes, sometimes we give into temptation. You'll get back into the game in no-time.
  17. Oh, sub-goal: Cut down from a pack of smokes a day to half a pack. :'(
  18. The last challenge was kinda tough so I'll stick with that theme: Current weight = 210lbs -> Challenge Weight: 200lbs Current 'maximum running time before failure' = 3 minutes -> Challenge "max run time": 10 Minutes. Current Dumbbell Standing Shoulder Press weight = 30pounds -> Challenge max weight: 60pounds (this one might hurt a bit) 3 goals, all of which should hopefully be attainable. (The running sill suck the most because it's rainy up here in British Columbia)
  19. Hooray for nerdy girls. Looks like a good program so far. Welcome aboard.
  20. I don't comfort eat. I smoke. I can say the smoking is far worse. Emotional eating isn't as bad as it seems. If you are eating the 'right' things if you eat emotionally, then the impact will be less severe. (Ie: handful of nuts, salad, sugar/fat free gelatin, to name a few of my favorites) Also, remember that soup is a comfort food. Just make sure you go for the low-sodium, non-cream bases soups and you should be fine. Mostly look for proteins, and no carbs, and emotionally eat if you like. The only caveat is if you 'emotionally eat' multiple times in a day. At that point, look for other forms of stress relief. Go for a quick power-walk... do some jumping jacks... something to wipe out that emotional energy.
