I would be interested in some clarity on the age old argument of how much water should one drink on a daily basis (non workout day) and how important is drinking it for the process of burning fat.
-
I'm interested in learning more about your body becoming more efficient over time and burning less calories. I was under the impression that the more muscle mass meant a greater BMR.
-
Would that be due to increased muscle mass needing more calories and in turn effecting your BMR?

After a while of reading, discussing and being bombarded with newsletters that all provide different info, "loss belly fat with this awesome technique", "only eat fatty foods to loose weight quickly" or "take these supplements and watch the weight drop off"! I've come to the conclusion that most people have an agenda, either for there product, supplement or service they want to sell me. I have decided to ignore almost everything that gives me a magic cure or solution. I'm interested in hearing what people on this forum have to say about the following statement. "In order to loose fat you must consume less calories than you burn on a daily basis." Thanks in advance.

1000 calories is a combination of breakfast and lunch not a total caloric intake for the day.
-
I'm finding that I'm eating far to much in the evening after work. It completely screws up what I have achieved during the day. My work is quite physical so I was wondering if that had a bearing. My caloric intake for the day is about 1000, do I need more?

How much should you drink and how soon after? Does this fill the glycogen stores in the muscles? Are protein shakes not a good suggestion? Thanks for you help so far Waldo.

There seems to be a whole array of information for what you should be eating / drinking after a workout. I tend to shy away from the idea of supplements and prefer the more natural whole foods route. Can anyone suggest good recipes / foods that are good for the recovery process? Thanks in advance.

Thank you Rain Cloak and Athaclena, both very helpful answers. I will do some investigation on oils available in this country as I think the normal supermarkets aren't offering the best choice. I will let you know what I find. Thanks again.

Thanks for your response Athaclena. I try to keep the heat low in all my cooking involving oil. My main concern is keeping my cooking healthy and less likely to make me gain fat. I'm based in the Uk, I have never thought about EVOO needing to be in non clear bottles. Will look into that. Thanks for the advice. From my limited knowledge, I understand that oils / fats that have a higher smoking point are the best. I believe ghee, and peanut butter are the best options? Thanks for all your help. Rebel.

I need some advice on which cooking oil I should use. Some articles tell you to use organic extra virgin olive oil only, others say coconut oil and others say butter. Any help will be greatly received. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I have been searching for a forum to discuss and share ideas for a while with no avail. After being recommended this site by a friend I was intrigued. I read a number of articles and was hooked. I'm 29 and live in the UK. Last year I was 16 stone and decided to do something about it. I'm now 13 stone 5 and feeling pretty good. I gave up smoking (and will never smoke again) after 12 years so my fitness has a long way to go but I am committed. My main focus is to be healthy (as I know without health you have nothing) but I also want to get crazy fit. Really looking forward to sharing ideas and reading some of the great articles.
