  1. Someone should invent primal mac&cheese...

I kind of feel like those would get too soggy with the cheese (that's just my experience with spaghetti squash but I may have added a little too much olive oil which softened the noodles too much..?) I'll try zucchini though! :)

  2. Yeah! There's a recipe here: http://paleomg.com/5-ingredient-avocado-pudding/ but personally I add cinnamon to cover up the avocado flavour more and then I top it with raspberries or strawberries. It's yummy! Also, I agree with raincloak. Like I said with my friend, she started having problems and had to bring back meat in. (Otherwise she would get dizzy often.) If you're okay with weaning meat back into your meals, it might be a good idea.
  3. I don't have personal experience with this but one of my good friends is allergic to all dairy and wheat (not just gluten, but all wheat) and by choice, she wouldn't eat meat either. (However, now she'll fit in some fish and shrimp because she had a lot of trouble with protein intake.) I'm always fascinated with her food haha, and her influence is probably what's making it so easy for me to go paleo. Depends what you want to do but I can give you a bit of what I've seen her make... chocolate avocado pudding, quinoa (sometimes with just veggies and seasoning, sometimes with some curry sauce and spinach), spaghetti squash, salads, quinoa burgers, rice noodles, and soups. For dairy, she uses almond milk. At our school, they also sell vegan wheat-free brownies and cookies, for the sweet tooth. But you'd have to google that for a recipe. So, it is really limited but she makes it look easy so it's definitely possible.
  4. Thanks, Porkchop! I feel good about it haha, I made a deal with another friend to go rewatch the Hobbit on Friday instead. No way am I falling behind in school this time! Yep, exactly. Text book sales are all just ridiculous... I'm getting it for 50$, though so it could be worse.
  5. Very appropriate! Even if you didn't give yourself full credit, at least you got to the footwork, better late than never for sure. Just gotta keep looking forward. Plus an interview sounds exciting, I wish you a good night's sleep and the best of luck! You got this!
  6. I would be down for the amazon giftcard either way, but to be honest, I'm also kind of feeling what Porkchop's saying. If I won, I would honestly insist you guys didn't spend the money on me! Achieving my goals would be reward enough for me and it's enough of an incentive as well... and if we all make our goals, I would say that we all succeeded evenly. The support I receive here has been more of recognition than I could have asked for! Haha, why thank you. Yeah WoW started taking up too much time that needed to be spent on better things... and I know of people selling their accounts and things, too, it's ridiculous how much people pay for those! If by space needle you mean the CN tower, then yes! I've always wanted to visit Vancouver but have yet to have that opportunity. "Young and bored again" made me laugh... I guess it's true. I like to try not to be bored, though! I'm still cruising through my 19th year so the bar exploration hasn't died yet... bahaha. Paleo is going pretty well as of today. Yesterday I was getting stressed out but today I had spaghetti squash with my mom's famous spaghetti sauce so that satisfied me. And I love sweet potatoes just as well so it's not too hard. That and I've found that carrying groceries without the hefty junk food and heavy dairy is so much easier. I'm also craving beef stew like crazy but won't have time/don't need to make more food until Thursday.
  7. Week 1.2 Much better than the first day! Got groceries, which I realized, is so much easier when eating paleo. I think I might even give up dairy now because of it. All I needed to get for the week was sweet potatoes, beef, beef broth, eggs, veggies and fruit... no cheese, crackers, no super heavy milk bags or juice cartons, and no frozen food selections. It took so little time and I got it all in one bag so taking the bus home was easy. Meals for today: Breakfast was just a scrambled egg (with chili pepper and a little salt) Snack was an apple and a liittle bit of chocolate. Daily green tea Late Lunch/Dinner was spaghetti squash with homemade spicy meat sauce (...I really mean spicy. I wish I bought milk, my ears are burning but it was delicious) and I've got leftovers for tomorrow's lunch! If I get hungry later, I'll probably eat carrots and broccoli with almond butter Exercise: 20 minutes of random cardio/body weight exercises (1/3 for the week) Did a bunch of body weight circuits... like the one Steve posted, but I ended up adding more and other routines from ninjutsu (whip arms, breathing exercises, stretches) ... and maybe some dance moves when Foo Fighters were playing. I stopped counting sit ups and pushups (knee pushups for now) but I was sweating by the end and I'm tired out, so whatever the count was worked decently for me. I'll wake up and do pushups tomorrow morning to see how that goes. Also sparred with my roommate for a little... basically just small practice to figure out my weaknesses in fighting (speed... strength...coordination..everything. ) but it was fun, and a little painful... and yeah, scary. I'm going to start punching the air with weights to improve on my own time. Work: Haven't done it yet, but tonight I'm missing out on going to the movie theatres so I will be finishing Biology homework and Animal Science homework, and then figure out how to get my Philosophy text book cheap. And then going to organize all my lecture notes for tomorrow!
  8. Space_Elf - Expect an actual update tonight.
  9. Kickboxing is awesome. Good luck!
  10. I...never watched Star Trek, so you beat me there. >.> To be honest, I'm a fail nerd. But I had an addiction to World of Warcraft, I love science and I love Lord of the Rings... so... It's awesome that you're a nurse! I feel like quite a few people around the forums are. Also Amelia and Porkchop: Don't feel bad about not knowing what dubstep is... a lot of dubstep isn't that good. Imo most of it is just butchering the music. (There are exceptions though)
  11. If we have one more spot open, I don't see why not! That is enough geekiness for sure. And being paleo is a bonus!
  12. Thanks, Kishi! Today is already a hell of a lot better! I slept in a little and am about to go catch the bus to gather groceries. Yeah, it kind of sucks, but I'm allowing myself a couple exceptions (like when I go out with friends), but more than that I don't really want to do. My diet is usually healthier as it is, so I feel like if I have too many exceptions, there won't be much of a difference. It's only 2 months anyway! Then I'll loosen up a little.
  13. @Amelia - YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT PORTAL IS? It's an awesome strategy game. If you like playing games you should play portal. @Porkchop - Haha, you're welcome! And yeah, I'm going to use mine later this week (spaghetti squash will be first to cook) and going to try to make a beef stew @Space_Elf - It is! I'm so excited to use it! @Jennynot - It's definitely a good investment. I don't have any recipes to recommend yet, but hopefully by the end of this week I will! What I do keep referencing though is this: http://paleomg.com/category/crockpot/ Also, I am from Toronto.
  14. Diet is definitely the hardest, I'm realizing this now!! I WISH I had space for a punching bag. But I found at program at school for it so I'm hopefully good! Thank you! Today I completely forgot about exercising in the morning. I literally woke up, all rattled by all my alarms and just ran for the showers. First day waking up like that though, so I'm sure tomorrow will be better! And yes, once work comes around, I'll have to work with that... grr.
  15. Week 1.1 TODAY WAS A BEAST. As in it's killing me. Basically what ended up happening last night, my mom drove me here and I got packed all really late, so there was no time for grocery shopping. So I had no food. Thankfully I got a break to eat an apple in the morning, and before I left the house, I took in a couple spoonfuls of almond butter and drank a mug of green tea... so my stomach didn't start growling until after class. My school apparently doesn't give lunch options til 12... Which normally I would think is fine, but on a day that I wake up before 6:30? Not at all pleased. Not only that, but it has no paleo options. I ended up finally giving in to a bowl of chili and picked out the kidney beans. And then finally later found spinach salad with chicken... and now for dinner I'm eating roast chicken with veggies. Sighhh. Tomorrow I have the day off so I can go get groceries but today was just a trek. 8 hours of classes later and I'm exhausted. Figures the day the challenge starts, all I want are doughnuts and cake and a tall glass of 2% milk. Exercise was not for today... I walked a ton though, so I guess that works. But I'll work out tomorrow, Wednesday and Saturday to keep my goal up. I'm sure being primal will come easier when I have my own food to work with... but today was just frustrating. I'm sure I'll get used to it though! Still keeping it up, no worries!
  16. Just bought a new crockpot, and spaghetti squash! ... So prepared.

  17. Lies. The cake is all lies... GUESS WHO JUST GOT A CROCKPOT? And Jenny - you only have to update one thread. Personally I would just do your challenge thread, since it is specifically for the challenge. (I didn't make a battle log, I just have my one thread in the Monk's guild, for example)
  18. Hahaha omg, I love this. And no problem, Jenny! Good luck to you all as well
  19. KEEP GOING, PORKCHOP! Btw, just a suggestion on the times that you forget to stretch, (I forget to stretch all the time... just never have the attention span, and then the pain would be ridiculous the next two days.) what I do now is as soon as I remember to stretch (long after the work out), I stretch just for a few minutes and then take a really hot shower. Since I've done that, I no longer wake up in the morning feeling really sore. Other than that, good job so far! Now for the official challenge...
  20. Yeah I was thinking something along those lines too at first. XD I just wasn't sure if they were too long of titles or not. I'm good for whatever though! Seems like our Team thread is going to have a Portal theme... We get portal guns, right?
  21. ONE MORE DAY. also, cob: http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/gallery/album/8-vector-guild-logos/
