  1. Sorry about my absence, folks. My mother was diagnosed with a grade 2 astrocytoma last week. Long story short, my mother has brain cancer. This has been taking most of my time lately, and I have really fallen off track with my goals while dealing with this. I'm really not sure what to do at this point other than soldier on and try my best to get back on the wagon.
  2. Okay, therapy session! Second day of Paleo eating. No lightheadedness or sluggishness, really, but I'll be darned if I'm not HUNGRY all the time. I try to get plenty of protein and good fats but for some reason I cannot stop wanting to munch on nuts, trail mix, tuna, whatever else... Also having to deal with some personal attitudes. I have always been ridiculously skeptical of people and it's taking effort for me to even open up to strangers on the Internet. Even on the street, when I see people I just want to yell at them to wake up and to see the world the way I see it and the way I know at least some others see it. Instead all I do is feel scorn for their inability to see past their own nose. A world full of vacant stares that tell of people who either don't know or choose to ignore how beautiful, terrible, wonderful, horrible, and awesome this world is. I guess this is what I get for meditating and thinking too much...
  3. Lessons on leveling up in life from Doctor Who: When all else fails, run. Even if all else hasn't failed, run. Even if you're not running from something, you're always running to something, whether it's safety, better health, or whatever other goals you have. The souffle isn't the souffle, the souffle is the recipe. No matter what clothes you wear, what kind of body you have, whatever... you are you at the core and always will be. Always stay true to that.Anyone worth having in your life is worth fighting for.Sometimes, the best journeys are the ones we don't meticulously plan. Have an idea of where you want to go, but be willing to correct course and keep moving, even if you don't land exactly on target.
  4. Just started the thread in Accountabilibuddies. Now let's get ready to save the Universe!
  5. This is for everyone here who's training to save worlds, fight monsters, and run a lot. Seriously. There's an outrageous amount of running involved!
  6. Any other people here experience ASMR? For those of you who may not know, ASMR, which stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a pleasant, tingling sensation that starts the scalp and head and can radiate down the spine, arms, and even legs sometimes when certain sensory stimuli are triggered. Common stimuli include soft spoken or whispered voices, watching people do something requiring intense focus or concentration, sounds like crinkling paper, keystrokes, tapping, etc.
  7. Hi. I'm Psynapse. I'm a Whovian, a Browncoat, a DnDer, a biologist, and I also like men. Really, REALLY like men.
  8. I sense a guild forming here... The Order of the Blue Box, perhaps?
  9. I'd just take the Doctor, preferably 10 or 11... but I'm going to stop there before this conversation enters Captain Jack territory...
  10. So far today, I did my meditation before breakfast. Breakfast was broccoli sauteed in coconut oil, 3 scrambled omega 3 eggs, and 2 strips of uncured bacon (translation: Psy tried to make an omelet and failed), with a half an avocado. I took fish oil and a multivitamin, killed my Workout A of the Rookie Rebel Fitness plan, went to work, have been drinking plain coffee, green tea, and water today (not hard since I work for Starbucks/Tazo) and had tuna salad lettuce wraps for lunch, using the other half of the avocado instead of mayo in the tuna salad. I haven't really been experiencing the sluggishness I was warned about on Paleo, but I do feel fantastic! I have dinner waiting at home: I threw a bunch of chicken breasts in the oven last night and they are all ready to go into the microwave with some frozen asparagus I got at Trader Joe's. My biggest excuse for not eating a proper dinner is "I'm too tired after work". Well take a Magic Missile to the head, excuses! HA! How's everyone else doing on Day 1?
  11. VWORP! VWORP! Let the adventure begin!
  12. HEEEEEEY AAAAABBOOOOOOTT! Sorry, but I absolutely could NOT resist, although I'm sure you've heard it before. Welcome to the fold! This is my first challenge, and you won the "Let's see where my mouse clicks to meet new people" contest! I will now follow your challenge and try and mimic and get pointers and support you. It's terrible, I know, but someone has to do it.
  13. I think they're just here to make us delicious souflees. EGGS. STIR. MIX. BAKE.
  14. We will now play the song of our people.... oooWEEEEoooooooo... EEEEEEOOOOOOO....
  15. You'll beat it man! I smell a new Druid in our party! ... that or I think I forgot to do my laundry after that last camping trip...
  16. Yeah I'm giving Paleo a try. I have strong suspicions I am both gluten and lactose intolerant.
  17. Well here's the starting photo. It ain't pretty, but we all start somewhere. As far as height and weight go, I am 6'3", 285lb. Will be getting circumference measurements tomorrow. Went to Trader Joe's and got chicken breasts, frozen veggies, coconut milk and yogurt, tuna, avocadoes, and other nutritious things to eat for the week and I have my Rebel Fitness workout tracker printed out and ready to go. Bring. It. On.
  18. LOL yes! My forum thread has been hijacked by Whovians!
  19. Get me spacetime coordinates and I'll pick you up... well... assuming Sexy wants to take us there...
  20. H'okay, so, my goals thus far are: 1. Follow the Rebel Fitness guide for six weeks. This includes logging my workouts here and on Fitocracy (username: Psynapse... shock and awe!) 2. Plan and prepare all my meals for the week on Sundays 3. Meditate daily for 5 minutes the first week and then add a minute every week. 4. Keep a journal of my thoughts on my training, nutrition, and overall development as a person. Write at least 2 pages a day, with 3 being optimal. I will be posting measurements and "before" pictures in the next 48 hours.
  21. So, I figure if a big blue box ever shows up on my doorstep, I better be ready to fight monsters and run around a lot of corridors (and maybe climb around in quarries on alien planets that look strangely like the Welsh coast). More details to come but I'm taking the short time I have right now to get the inertia off and get this ball rolling!
  22. How close? I'm currently residing in Tacoma, will be coming to Seattle soon as I just got a job in Woodinville.
  23. Yeah I'm originally from the East Coast too. North Carolina to be exact.
  24. I am currently residing in Tacoma, but I just got a job in Woodinville and will be moving back to Seattle ASAP. I would love to get in on this Seattle NF group!
  25. Been lurking and checking out NF for quite a while. I am now read to really get involved in this community. Hi, I'm RJ!
