  1. I think this is the right place for my short story: Nerd fitness inspired a bigger change than just going for a run. I lurked for a while, I posted a bit, and I fell in love with what you people do. Long Live The Steve. I haven't been back in a long time because life happens but here is my Re-Introduction post, WOOT Post, and Berserker post all rolled into one.... I signed up for NF two years ago and due to some misplaced, and to this day surprising, motivation I threw myself at a slew of life changes (food, gym, sleep cycle) and it came with almost immediate consequences. It wasn't too long after this started that my girlfriend of 4 years decided it was her or they gym. She didn't like what I was cooking for us or how long I was spending away from our couch. Long story short after losing several pounds in a month I decided to lose about 110 pounds in 20 seconds. It wasn't as nearly as easy or fun as it sounds but it was done. From there I quit my job(stupid), got a career(lucky), joined a better gym($$), moved twice($$$) and found a supportive woman who thinks it's cute that I named my kettle balls Bruce and Robin. There's no easy step-by-step through this phase, kids. It sucked, it was hard, but I did it. Because of the paleolithic-eating, barefoot-running, anime-watching, Star-Wars-quoting lot of you (primarily the bunch in 2012) I found the courage and strength to make the first step toward what I am and what I'm still working towards. That little step did great things for me even if I haven't been here getting to be ridiculous with the rest of you. If I had to give one bit of advice it goes beyond 20 seconds of bravery. Make that first scary step but don't hesitate to go where that step takes you. Huzzah!

  3. I can do two that I'm proud of. Four if I'm not picky. But I'm picky. :-)
  4. So I've failed at the whole post 3 times a week thing. BUT, still on top of everything else. This will soon end however since I'm leaving for Ireland on Sunday. So there goes that week. 5. I have failed so hard at posting it almost takes away from everything I've been doing. Wish I could say I was back to stay but I got a trip to Ireland coming up that was NOT expected. More to post tonight. Stay Classy.
  6. 1. Strength -Gym MTTF w/ 1 yoga class/wk Yoga this morning. Felt really good this time. Didn't over extend or push to hard. Incorporated more breathing (as instructed) and stretched for an extra 20 min before the class even started. Followed by a double block of C25k. Because it's part of my goals, I had extra time and because I hate myself for Saturday night and needed to be punished with lots of running. See: "New Weakness" I left some lifting unchanged but completed them all. Lifted last night instead of tonight. Yoga and lift and C25k seemed a bit much for a Monday. Garfield does not approve. My moobs are sore. -Measure distance as I go and achieve 30 miles.MORE HUZZAH!! 3. Knowledge Strength - Waking up early - I slept past 6 for the first time on Sunday. Deserved. Strength - Strength - Weakness - Flexibility. Back is better. Still considering Chiropractor. REMEMBER TO STRRRRRETCH NEW Weakness - Choc-Peanut Butter Walking Dead Themed Birthday Cake... Apparently my girlfriend ordered it in early August (pre-paleo). I couldn't say no to a very conservative, I'm-much-better-than-I-was, slice. Neither could the dozen or so friends that were there, about 8 restaurant employees, and 20+ strangers that I assaulted with free cake. We still have quite a bit. If you would like some cake please send a self addressed envelope to 245 Diabeetus Way, Sugarinducedcoma, NH. Weakness - -Learn 6 new Paleo recipes (1/week) -"Pictures or it didn't happen" Week 1 - Made Spaghetti Meatball Bites. Can't upload pics at work but it will be done. They look oddly similer to these. 4. Level UP - Maintain a Paleo lifestyle!! (+3 CON) This is realistic, achievable and Awesome. Yet I have stumbled. One strike against for my goal followed by three lashings from my cave dwelling ancestors. One for each layer of chocolate, peanut-buttery goodness. Worth it... I posted a broken link last time. If you're in NH you need to try this place. And don't eat cake.
  7. Awesome! I'm glad you like it. If you want to convert anyone to our wicked ways try this stuff. Just made it for my bday party....ate it and felt great and then demoralized myself with a brick of chocolate peanut butter cake...

'BAD CAVE MAN! VERY VERY BAD!'

  8. I wanted to thank you for suggesting Paleomg.com. IT's AWSOME she has so many ideas for recipes. Makeing eggs in a crock pot and chicken or turkey nuggets..And she's so funny!!

  13. I have shuffled some things to make it easier to track and measure. Also, after watching me struggle through a mile run this morning, a friend suggested the C25k program. It looks like it's quite popular on here as well. 1. Does anyone think this wouldn't be a good idea to see how far I am from doing a respectable set of pull ups? I use ~50lbs of assist now and I can generally do 3 sets of 5 with good form. 2. 14. I've been down the shoulder surgery road and I know well it's a longer road back. Much luck to you Samunwal.
  15. Congratulations! You made all that look effortless! I'm headed to the NH Highland Games this weekend so this thread caught my eye. I'm not competing this year but that's the eventual goal. I've got the same Black Watch tartan and sporran. Now if I could perfect the 12:00 landing I'd be in business...
