  1. Feel free to do any of the past ones for the experience of them, but you can only pick up the points for the current week
  2. You said you would have to eat the rest of the food....you mean to meet your calorie/macro goals? The point of this is not to reduce the food you eat, but to be more aware of what the state of your body is. If you waited the 20 minutes and weren't hungry and so didn't eat the food, you could tack the food onto a later meal if you were going to miss your goals. Why don't you try it as written and see what, if any, differences it makes in your world. At that point the STA would be a bonus You are more than welcome to sit it out, but why don't you give it a try? The point isn't to eat less food, it's just to be in touch with how your body feels when you do eat your food. The worst that can happen is you try it, and you were already in touch with your hungry, and you get that confirmed. The best thing is you could learn something new about yourself. What an interesting idea! I like it.
  3. Mini Quest 4: Discipline In the battle against the empire, there are some people, of course, that you’re better off NOT being like. Take Jabba, for instance. Sure he was a savvy businessman, a fearless leader, and an accomplished crime lord. There’s a lot of positive things we could learn from his ruthless elimination of things that got in his way. But Jabba had a fatal flaw: greed. Jabba was greedy not just for wealth and power but for things that brought him pleasure. It was Jabba’s penchant for filling every desire that was the end of him. Where am I going with this? Discipline. Not something you’ll hear talked about every day, but a vital skill none the less. Discipline is the ability to put off current gratification for the sake of future reward. It’s a not-so-popular idea, but is vitally important to your success. And the good news is, it’s not a commodity you either have or you don’t. Discipline is a skill. It is something you learn, and expand over time. This week we are going to take the first step to building some discipline into our eating. Now you may already be a disciplined eater; if you are, by all means, pass this mini-quest by. But if, like me, food tends to have you at it’s whims, read on. This week we’re going to try the 20 minute wait. Fill your plate as normal but instead of eating all of it, eat 80% of it. Stop. Wait 20 minutes. If after 20 minutes you are still hungry, eat the rest. If not, put it away. Resist the urge to overload your plate to compensate for the fact that you will be “eating lessâ€. You’re not going to go hungry, because the food is right there. Try that 4 times this week, and collect +1 STA.
  4. Fantastic, Fearkiller. That introspection is important. Yesterday I realized that I pull back when I get overwhelmed by everything that needs done and spend time reading books because I need the extra time and space to cope. I always thought it was a way I failed at life, and I resented that I couldn't just push through. But recognizing it as a coping mechanism helps me not hate myself for doing it, and realize that I can start to work on finding another coping mechanism later if I don't like the one have.
  5. Sounds like me....at least the spelunking bit. My laundry and I have that kind of relationship all the time. No, no you don't. It should say "wheee.....I'm amazing, even if I didn't do all the things I arbitrarily said I would". So there.
  6. You are awesome. also, I need more of this: in my life right now. That is all
  7. I know, right? I'm totally looking forward to having both. When I need a soak, I use my parent's tub right now (we split the house; they have upstairs, we have downstairs) but it's often inconvenient. I'm hoping to keep the whole reno (tub, faucet, showerhead, piping, base for the tub, tile [for around the base of tub and a 6" high apron above the lip], grout, curtain rod, shower curtain, shelving) under $1000. So far the tub, faucet, showerhead, and curtain rod are sitting at under 450, so I'm doing all right. I'm planning on doing most/all of it myself, so that will help. If I had to pay someone else to do it I could never afford it. We have a renovation/house account that I put $400/month in, so it's funding the operation and will have money left over in it when I'm done. LOL. I don't really feel like I'm charging anywhere, but thanks. This head cold has really knocked me for a loop, and has really kept me from being hungry. so it's good and bad. Being under my calories is good, but I'm worried that my metabolism has dropped really low because I'm pretty much not hungry at all. Hunger Beast: 0; Hiraedd: 10 Haven't been hungry, but eating at or below my caloriesFor my Birthday supper last night (I turned 33!) my mom made a HUGE bunch of ribs, cheese and chive potato puffs, and for dessert? Cheesecake with a praline crust. SO. GOOD. Ate way too much at one meal, although I had lots of calories to spare, and my stomach is a bit sour this morning, but mmmm. Birthday.Walk to work: Still on holiday. Yesterday's walking was done whilst shopping. Purchased assorted parts for the bathroom reno (like the tub faucet!) and made WAY too many decisions -- who knew you had to think about so many things? Quiet time: For now, my quiet time has been sanding in the bathroom. It's something my munchkin doesn't want to help with, and it's surprisingly easy to just zone out and let it happen. Workout: no working out Still sick, and can't risk it. Head cold is slowly getting better. Everything workout-wise is on hold until then.
  8. Looking awesome as usual, Heidi. How is the blister healing up?
  9. WOW! 10,000 steps a day and 2 pull ups? That is awesome! Good for you!!! I wish I could do those things! And good job finding things to be happy about in external things -- it's a great start.
  10. Good job, Teros! My Easter was great! Thanks, Elastigirl -- I'm plugging away at it. I definitely do. I think it may be worth the hungry after all... Quick Recap: Hunger Beast: 0; Hiraedd: 8 Has it really been that long since I updated? Had a refeed on Friday night instead of Saturday since that was our big meal -- steak, cheese and chive potato puffs, and spinach salad. Mmmm, good. I've only just started to get hungry again, even though I've been below my calories, so I'm not sure if that's a good thing (ie: refeed working properly) or a bad thing (ie: my metabolism really dropped). Anyone know/have a theory? Walk to work: no work this week, so 1 day of just plain walking. Workout: have come down with a terrible cold, so PLP and workouts are on hold until I heal. Will keep you posted. Quiet time: struggling to get this in over the week break with my daughter. Got it yesterday, but only by doing things I knew she didn't want to tag along for. So overall, going very well. Here's hoping I can kick this cold and be ready to get back to working out. In other news, I found out my shower floor was cracked on Friday. On Saturday I ripped it out and discovered...no mold. Thank goodness. I don't know how long it's been leaking, but the people who put it in neglected to cover the large hole they made in the floor to run the drain, so it was just dripping into the hole. However, I still have to redo my bathroom now, since we are showerless. I think I will be putting in a bathtub, because I love baths, but I have to figure everything out. I want to do as much as possible by myself. Will keep you posted -- it's going to probably be a month of work for me. Luckily there's another bathroom upstairs, so we can get clean in the meantime!
  11. Very cool set up. If I tried that, my dog would lick me to death
  12. Hunger Beast: 0; Hiraedd: 4 Hit my calories for the day. It was very hard. Ate things that were too salty, then needed extra water, and found myself coming down with a sore throat. Stupid reflux. Anyway, went to bed hungry. That's a tiresome feeling. Except, then my pants fit better this morning, and it didn't seem quite so bad.... Walk to work: nope. Bad weather = no walkee. Workout: PLP day 3. Didn't try a regular workout, since I already had a sore throat. Quiet time: 3/4 of it. Missed a bit since my munchkin came home!! Have low-key plans for Easter. Big supper planned tonight, so I need to get on that, but not a lot else.
  13. You can always just estimate what you've done and post it in the thread and the powers that be will help figure out how to list it
  14. Monkey bars, and soon to be meeting Mir? So much fun happening in your world!!
  15. Hmm...the secret as far as I've found it is that every time you think about something for the next day, or beyond, you just say "going to think about something else" and push it away. Refuse to let yourself go down that trail. And keep doing that as many times as it comes up. If it's extremely difficult then sometimes changing activities (getting up and doing something), putting on music (for me it interferes with thinking), or doing something small off my list for the current day (get out of bed; eat a meal; wash a load of clothes) reduces the anxiety enough to make it possible to handle. Sometimes I even write down the things that are bothering me about the future, and then I tell myself "you don't need to remember it, it's written down" whenever I think of it.
  16. I always find that being alone outside helps me clear my headspace. Sometimes I just drive out of the city for that purpose; finding unorganized nature. Take it one day at a time, Fearkiller. You'll sort it
  17. Yes, press on and wear extra clothing! (two shirts today) As for macros, I was trying to do <50g fat, 175gish protein, 85g carb, but right now I'm not stressing about those...I'm just trying to make sure I get calories in. I'm hitting usually 150g protein, and trying to keep the fat down (because it's irritating my reflux and making me sick) right now, and I'll decide later on if it's worth being strict with them or not. I wish I could take credit! It just happened, and I noticed because my ring basically fell off...
  18. Care to share some sunshine? Please???
  19. 3/3. Karin. Looking great!!
  20. thanks. Now I'll be singing that song ALL day.
  21. Sounding awesome, Brute!! What a great start to your challenge!!
  22. Will there be videos? I feel like there should be videos.
  23. Sounds like a fun challenge! As long as you work into the vest in a couple of gradual steps (build up the quantity/time, and make sure your form is solid) I don't see why you shouldn't be able to use it. Just use good judgement; don't want to see you get hurt! Yes, stretching helps with shin splints. So does rest, and easing into things, and good form...and possibly a softer walking surface (grass, rather than concrete). The scouts would know more.
