  1. Hi all... New to this whole yoga thing, done a couple of classes and I really struggle with downward dog. My hands slip, it really makes me ache and I find it difficult to hold. I think it maybe weakness in my hips but is there anything I can do to help with this? Strengthening certain muscles at all? FYI fitness level is basic, so I'm sure that does not help at all lol
  2. So here's the sitch. My girlfriend. And I are getting into the gym. We go to a 24 hr place with automated classes and all the free weight bells and whistles plus machines and cardiovascular equipment. I am not a beginner. I am 5'9 210lbs and have had experience at the gym. I need to drop at least 30lbs and put on some muscle. I know what I need to do and don't mind counting calories and hitting the gym 5 to 6 days a week to get it done. My girlfriend has a lot more weight to lose and never really did the weight training thing. She's a super beginner at the gym. She does not want to count calories or get heavy into the mix but she does want to gradually work into the gym and make better choices with food and portion control. All together she wants to lose 50 lbs to get back into the game. I want to be supportive of her efforts before I go HAM on my goals because I don't want to leave her behind and discourage her from moving forward. Where is a good place for her to start and how can I help her along. I wold like to get a good routine going for her, one that I can do with her and not move too far along ahead on. Thank you for any feedback on this. It's a weird one. Also, if anyone is going through something similar, how do you make it through together? Thanks.
