  1. Checking in and starting my next challenge! I'm currently down 23.2lbs and loving it! Over half way! Only 9.4lbs to the first goal of 210, and 19.4 to the second goal. Since the start of the last challenge I lost about 4lbs. Had a difficult time for a couple weeks as my grandma passed away but i'm using my strength to remember her and continue going in her name! I did also acquire my first belt in Krav Maga! On to level 2 It was one of the hardest tests I've accomplished. Both physically and mentally challenging. Around 30 weeks or so and the level 2 test will take place! I've updated my goals below. Main Quest: Lose (32.6lbs) by June 1 & lose (42.6lbs) by September 1. Both of these numbers are from starting January 1. My main goal started January 1. 2014 didn't end positive, but it started fantastic. The Main Quest will end after a trip to Mexico, so I'm looking to stay healthy on vacation! Quest 1: Go to Krav 3 times a week This should be a simple quest. As I already committed to 3 times a week, this will be a great workout. Quest 2: Run two times a week Sadly this one didn't pass last round, but when I did run, I wasn't winded at all! Thank you Krav Maga Quest 3: Go 90% Paleo Paleo has not been easy for me. I've done it about 80-90% of the time and I'm okay with that. there are a few things that I still enjoy enough that are not too horribly bad for me. Side Quest 1: Go for a run/walk in the morning before work. I've been getting better sleep, so I go to bed earlier, and wake up earlier. I will use the extra time before work to run or walk. Side Quest 2: Ride my bike more often This goes with Quest 1 and 2. I ride my bike to the gym to work out and run. Motivation: Friends, Family, Coworkers. I've had a lot of friends follow my progress of working out, running, trends that I've taken on. I want to encourage everyone to not only follow what I do, but to see them commit to it and be healthy themselves. Life Quest: Podcast is going great, want to grow that to be even bigger Moving out of the stressful house this year, that will free up time and money! Reward System: Weight Loss Info(Instead of credits, xp, or $, I prefer info. Its value goes beyond anything else): 100% complete - 200 info 90% complete - 90 info 80% complete - 80 info 70% complete - 70 info 60% complete - 60 info 50% complete - 100 info 40% complete - 40 info 30% complete - 30 info 20% complete - 20 info 10% complete - 10 info 700 info total, (100 extra info available).
  2. Hello! I kind of fell of the wagon pretty hard a while back, and have now found out what caused me to fail time and time again... Motivation! Now I find myself in a bit of a predicament... About 5 years ago, I had gone traveling. It was difficult, I was pretty out of shape, overweight, and did not eat well. Because of this, I was not able to do most of the things that I had gone travelling to do (Hiking some mountain trails, exploring, etc) and my 25 year old self said... "Next time I come, I will be able to do all of this, and more!" It has been 5 years, and while I have always wanted to go back, I have never really fulfilled the second part of that... The part where I was going to get into shape so I could fully enjoy my vacation. Suddenly, I received a golden opportunity to go back, in roughly 6 weeks from now, but I am still in roughly the same shape I was 5 years ago and in need of a plan. My plan is to...go to the store and grab some measuring tape, body fat caliper. this weekend, and go through the fridge to see what I can get rid of! DIET: I had followed the Paleo diet pretty closely about a year ago for almost a month straight, I only stopped because I am eating with other people at home, then wouldn't have leftovers and would order lunch. I will start eating on my own if my roommates do not want to eat the same food as me. This discussion will be happening tonight when we are all home. ACTIVITY: I have created a workout plan about 2 months ago that I had half-assedly used for about 2 weeks before I stopped completely. I will have a look at it tonight, revise it if necessary and start working out Either Sunday or Monday. (2 day off schedule) Monday - Thursday - Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, Monday. On days I am not working out, I am going to incorporate some HIT cardio, such as Hill Sprints, (I have a good sized hill in my yard!) Another fitness goal is to be able to do a freestanding handstand and hold it for 10 seconds. I also enjoy walking, and I will be doing it every morning before heading to work. This will start as a 5 minute walk only, but I plan on increasing it every week. REST and SLEEP I have always had a hard time getting the sleep I need. I have been diagnosed with Insomnia, and sleep apnea. I also tend to lose track of time before going to sleep, so I will be setting an alarm for when it is time to start getting ready for bed. NOTE: I realize none of these goals are properly set up. I am going to be doing it this weekend after I get my measurements done... Then I will know HOW much I have to lose. (Haven't even stepped on a scale in about a year... but the last time I did, I was about 250) If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know... I would be shooting myself in the foot if I didn't at least run my plans by people. Thanks for reading my ramblings!
  3. Enough of sitting on the sidlines being on the mailing list. It is time to get more involved in the NF c community, Six Weeks, Let's Go!! Main Quest To build muscle and get strongerWorkout at least 4 times a weekEliminate soda 6 days out of the weekCardio 1-2 times a week (least favorite activity)Side Quest Help others on their main questMeditate moreHave a profitable crafting businessFinally post something on my blogQuest Items pull-up barmy bodybicyclemagnetic bicycle trainerWiiU (WiiFit,Pedometer, Dancing Games)Jump RopeMotivations Inspire my familyLive longer than my father (passed away last year in his early 50's 9/13)
  4. THE JOURNEY CONTINUES... Installment three. MAIN GOAL. Lower bodyfat percentage. ADDITIONAL GOALS FOR THIS CHALLENGE. Stick to personal trainers 21 day Paleo meal plan. Blog about it. LIVE IT. Work out 6 days a week in some fashion for at least 30 minutes. Drop the self-depreciation. Seriously. LIFE QUEST. One craft project a week with my children. One main craft project for myself for the duration of the challenge. MOTIVATION. This weird and oddly humbling feeling that I discovered whereby it's okay to live in the moment and not sweat the small stuff. It's given me so much more momentum than I thought it would. BEFORE STATS.
  5. I'm a vegetarian training for my second marathon (it's in October--I have a long way to go). I'm an experienced half-marathon runner, but I'm just coming off an injury and I really need to start cross training better/smarter. Before the injury, I was up to 14 miles for my long run and had just completed my first half-marathon of the season. I'm also a vegetarian and I'm playing with the idea of becoming vegan for ethical reasons, so I'm going to use this challenge as a way to explore the field. I'm stuck in a breakfast rut and have a gluten sensitivity, so I'm worried it's going to be too hard and I'd love some pointers. My goals: Strength train 3x/week, including arms, legs, and core. Bike 2x/week, at least three miles. Eat one vegan meal per day. Seek out vegan breakfast options and try 1 each week during this challenge.
  6. Okay, So this is my first challenge and my third post on the NF forum! I want to get this journey going. I want to start off reasonable and small... Goals: (My Level-ups!) Lose minimum of 10 lbs lost.down one size (in any clothing ex: shirt, underwear, etc)able to go up the stairs w/out feeling windedDo more than 5 Push-upsClean up my eating (Paleo!)My Mini-Bosses: Making my own meals (aka Cooking)Preparing Lunches/Meals ahead of timeGoing to the gym regularly (join the gym...)Chocolate (need I say more?)I love this idea of Real Life Roleplay, (or whatever it's called...) I LOVE D&D and I'm hooked on becoming something great! I feel more like a squishy wizard than an adventurer though... Any hints or tips would be great on how to keep up with the challenge, I have a feeling that I will veer off course like I usually do...
