  1. Main quest Be a strong bad ass and look killer in a bikini. Taking a challenge off has been helpful in a few ways – redefining my goals and looking at what I really want to achieve. I started here on NF just over a year ago. I was a bit disappointed to look back and think that there isn’t really anything specific that I have done in the last year that I can say “Yay! I achieved Xâ€. In the spirit of always growing, I do feel like I’m more awesome than I was a year ago, and that I’m armed with more knowledge too. I’ve definitely done some things I never would have over the
  2. Hi all Last challenge I embarked on an epic point scoring system involving multiple combination forumlas in excel. As exciting as this was, it led to some lack in motivation on certain days and a general fail towards the end where I felt I didn't deserve the score and sabotaged to make it more accurate. That's a completely normal thing to do right? right?! Aaaaanyway... I completed my third challenge with a grade C, and lost 4lbs, several centimetres (pretty much all on my boobs... thanks for that) and walked over 170 miles. My life quest again is to de-flab my fab self. I have to say th
  3. Alright! Challenge the third! This time I am channelling my new Avatar and have to overcome some new obstacles to become my strongest. I am ramping up my excersice and making some diet changes. My Main Goal is still over all weight loss and fitness. I am hoping to drop another clothing size in the next 2 months. I have seen some definite progress in the way of muscle definition (in very specific areas) but I'm still hoping to lose more body fat! 1) Become a ProBender! - jog/walk 5 nights a week I need to be strong and practice! I will be doing an aprox half hour jogging circuit 5 nights a week
  4. For those who don't know me: After having a few kids, I'm an oddball and I'm struggling to put on weight. I'm a good 30 lbs below where I want to be. I look like a sick person. I have no strength. If I don't get my crap together soon, I could be in trouble. I'll be honest here. I really hate goal setting. I dread putting myself out there in front of people just to fail. I have no idea why I'm still here and trying when I normally give up on things early on. I've been at this for 6+ months. I'm at my lowest weight since #3 was born 8 months ago. I'm incredibly disappointed. Every challenge so
  5. BRIEFING Hey everybody, I'm back! The infamous wedding took up too much of my time towards the end of my last challenge, and the start of the previous challenge here. By the time I started to get back into it the challenge was well underway and I opted not to jump in, though I know I should have. Anyway, for those wondering how I did with the "look awesome in a kilt for the wedding"..well... There it is... I did awesome! Of course since then I haven't done as awesome, so I totally get to play catch up again. Yay! MAIN CHALLENGE In April I'm going out to Celebration in Anahei
  6. Alright World. This log will be here to (ideally) maintain my convictions and keep track of my triumphs and setbacks. “It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.†― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings I'm sure this quote is elsewhere on these forums but I really love it as it can mean so much with regards to embarking on any journey. I think it can also have positive insinuation about where the world can take you. I am excited about this quest! For me this is to los
  7. Jazzy could feel it coming. Maybe it was something in the air. Maybe it was something in the food. Maybe it was the way she sweat like a damn pig every time she tried to do something simple. Whatever it was (thought it was probably that last thing), she could feel change coming on. She'd started simple, used some help, and made it through. Barely, but barely counted in most places. This time was going to be different. This time she was going to kick ass all the way through. She sat up in her hammock and she could feel the conviction pouring off of her. She could... she could... She fell si
  8. New Title - ChristArtist continues Losing It! For this challenge, here is my schedule: week 1 - pack and travel to Geogia; camp NF! VERY LITTLE COMPUTER TIME week 2 - explore the Atlanta area with Clarys(a nerdweek - would this be nerdlanta?). VERY LITTLE COMPUTER TIME week 3 - recover from a week and a half of massive fun - and prep for surgery, possibly epidural for low back, MAY BE ON THE COMPUTER week 4 - pre surgery stuff - clean and prep our RV and my food. MAY BE ON THE COMPUTER week 5 - neck surgery on the 13th - WILL NOT BE ON THE COMPUTER MUCH. week 6 - MAY COME ON TO CO
  9. Water, Earth, Fire, Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the fire nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements could stop them. I must master all four elements to become Avatar, to become the master of my body! I'm very excited about the progress I've been making so far and want to keep it going. My Main Goal: still working towards a US size 10 jean but ultimately surpassing this goal is in the books. Officially becoming the Avatar may take a little more than being a smaller size so I am also really focusing on building str
  10. Hello adventurers! I hope I am welcome in your guild. I promise to bring honour to all adventurers My names Tiffany and I'm a full time nurse (assistant ward manager) with a gorgeous but spirited 2 year old and a very laid back house husband living in Australia. This last year has brought me some of the biggest heartbreaks and challenges I have ever faced. However through my last (and first completed) 6 week challenege I found love for my body and myself. I'm quite shy and coming on the forums was actually a huge deal for me! My main goals is to get back down to my pre-nursing-pre-husband w
  11. Ahoy! me buckos! I be fresh off o' me latest adventure in t' lake o' level 1. Havin' surmounted me foes and succesfuly navigated t' a port it was time t' rest. Current Stats: Age: 23
  12. Little late off the starting block; but here it goes. Main Quest: Lose 10lb in five weeks! Mission #1: Beat the Treats! Acknowledge I’m eating emotionally, and just stop it; worst case, eat a whole bag of carrots instead of a whole package of mini-cupcakes. This is one thing I’ve always had a hard time with; treat consumption. This can be everything from a cookie, to a FiberOne bar, to even just a spoonful (or five) of peanut butter when I’m getting’ all emotional in my head. I’m admittedly an emotional eater. If stress rears its’ ugly head, well, my mouth devours all. I will no
  13. Introduction: Hi this is NerdyGator and this is my first Nerd Fitness Challenge. I was not athletic growing up- the closest I got to a “sport “was playing the flute marching band senior year of high school. Fast forward to about 2 years ago, when I started to train for a 5K. Until October 2012, I had never run more than 1 mile. I completed my first 5K in December 2012 and since then have run in several more 5K races and successfully completed two half marathon races, both sub 2:30 times. Right now I am training for a relay trail marathon at the end of October and another half in November.
  14. not sure if this is the best place to post this but I'd really like some feedback about the Nerd Fitness Academy, please! The academy sounds like a really fun way to keep myself motivated and I am thinking about rewarding myself when I finish my first challenge by signing up. I am hoping that anyone who has signed up can give me a little feedback. I am still a super beginner when it comes to fitness so I assumed the academy would be a good program for me what do you guys think? One other thing is I am wondering about the differences between the men's academy and the women's academy. It seems
  15. The Apocalypse, Day One. "The day the apocalypse hit was a day like any other. It was slightly overcast with more then a slight chance of rain, and so I had locked myself inside with nothing but my dog and my computer. The middle of winter is a real motivation drainer so I have found herself drawn to the warmth of the gas heater and cheesy reality TV shows more and more as the cold months have progressed. That was until, my partner (henceforth known as Mr. Tea) came roaring home from work one day, flung the front door open, flung himself through it, and slammed it shut, back pushed firmly ag
  16. Greetings, fellow Adventurers! I look forward to levelling up with you all! My main quest is to become stronger and improve my diet. I am satisfied with the shape of my body, so I'm not aiming to lose weight. First, I aim to work out 4-5 times a week. This will include three gym days lifting weights and two/three days running or bodyweight training. Unfortunately, this summer I am living in a town with very few gyms, and none with free weights. :/ all yoga or Zumba classes, which are fine, but not conducive to my goals. So I'll probably just do more reps of the weights I am now stuck with,
  17. MAIN CHALLENGE As for the past few challenges, I've been saying "Look awesome in a Kilt for my wedding day" I'm going to say that's still the goal but I want to be more specific. I hope to hit around 180 lbs by the wedding date of 09/20/2014. It's been the same for the past few challenges, but this means a weight loss of 28 lbs in under two months, while some people have had that kind of loss I'm doubtful that it'll be legitimately possible, but I'm still going to try! (Healthily) MOTIVATION The motivation is the hope to see the looks and reactions of everyone when the see me in the best
  18. Drip. Drip. Drip. Jazzy twitched in her bed. There was no way it was morning already; she’d only just gone to bed! Drip. Drip. Drip. What in the world was that noise? It wasn’t her alarm clock; that had more of a bell sound than a drip. A loud groan shook the demon’s ear drums before literally shaking her from her bed. Her eyes shot open as her body toppled from her bed. “Oh god! An earthquake!†She scrabbled to her feet, her orange tail puffed out like a pom pom. Wood bit at her toes and nipped her finger tips, splinters catching the flesh. She paused. Something wasn’
  19. Battlescars: Exodus This is it! I move across the country during this challenge. I’m pumped for the new adventure, but also terrified to give up the comfort and security that I’ve established here. It’ll be exciting, ridiculous, and probably frustrating as hell. But honestly, I’m too pumped to care. Los Angeles, I’m coming for ya. Brace yourself. Goals: 1. Post (at minimum) three times a week. (+3 WIS) This is a huge problem for me. I’m so bad at posting and keeping track of what I’m doing. I feel like posting more will give me an extra boost with the rest of my goals a
  20. Hey guys! I'm, super excited about this challenge. If I really push it this time, I think I'll be able to visualize what's really possible long term. It's a process, a long one, and I know that. It doesn't make me any less impatient though... So as I look of into the horizon, I pack my bags to prepare for a journey. Destination: unknown Long term goal: -get myself up to a healthy weight, 120-130 depending on how much muscle and BF% I decide to go with -have more strength, stamina, and flexibility than ever before -to be able to do things like push ups, pull ups, running around with my ki
  21. Do you feel like Summer gets here and THINGS HAPPEN (hopefully good things), and the next thing you know it’s labor day weekend and you wonder where the summer went? I’ve been trying to find ways to not just enjoy my summer but to slow down a little and enjoy it instead of getting caught up in so many things to do that I forget that I love to take it slow and just go and enjoy my own way. I just finished my first full quest, and am looking forward to enjoying my next one. When I try to do things I use to do the overhaul approach “I MUST DO IT ALL Now!â€. now I’m going slow taking
  22. Hello! This is my second challenge, Going to be the first as an adventurer! For challenge one, my missions were: 1) run three times a week 2) do another workout (at least 20 minutes) 3 times a week 3) drink (at most) one pop a week About two thirds of the way through I realized that I HATE running outside. Totally not my thing. I'm asthmatic, so it sucks. Going to have none of it. But now I know that, and we're moving on. This time, my missions are going to be: Mission 1: Calorie Count. I want to meticulously count my calories (during the week, M-F), and report them here. Staying und
  23. All right just finished my first beginner bodyweight workout *high-fives self* . I was worried I might not be doing the lunges right because they didn't seem like much of a challenge until after my workout, my legs felt like they would be sore in the morning lol Honestly, pretty proud of myself for doing this. I find the hardest thing to do is to just start, now if I can stay consistent hopefully I'll see some improvement! My story is just beginning, and it seems my arch enemy has already appeared...myself! If I can slay the evil me, the one who tells me to give up and do something easier, I
  24. Not sure if The Woot Room is the best/right/most suitable place to put this. But in a way it felt right, at least more so than just making a post in my current challenge thread. Anyway, here's a look back at my first year of challenges here on Nerd Fitness. On May 30th, 2013 I decided to start off with a challenge. It definitely got modified a little bit during the time, but that was the beginnings. I had been a reader of the Nerd Fitness blog for many years, and had previously had some false starts that were inspired by the writings of Steve Kamb. I was definitely aware of the Challenges fo
  25. My first challenge was a bit of a failure. I chalked it up to overcomplicating things, although I’m not sure if I believe that 100%. My goals seemed so simple to me, but they were apparently too complicated for little ol’ me to achieve. So.. as the title suggests, I am going way the fuck back to basics. It occurred to me that I have gained back nearly all the weight I lost immediately after high school, so my goals will sort of focus on the lifestyle changes I had (unknowingly) made as soon as I set out on my own ten years ago. MAIN QUEST: To lose some frickin' weight already. GA
