  1. I have decided at least for now to switch to a battle log since it seems that is mainly what my challenge logs have become... I have a few goals for 2015... I am gonna figure out this place and what my goals are and whatnot... anything goes here... this is a place for complete transparency
  2. typed a big long thing. It essentially boiled down to there's been a lot of crap in the past year and I have fallen off the wagon and it has driven over me. Then the internet ate it and said I couldn't post. so..... point of the matter is I am tired of making excuses and allowances for myself. I have some goals. I would like some accountability. 1. "Am" routine 2. "PM" routine 3. Food - track (youfood) - whole 30 ish 4. Exercise - step goal OR 10 minutes 5. WATER - "6" cups (I got the big cups) 6. Post in my battle log every day
  3. http://www.spartan.com/events/?event_id=567%2Fasheville-super so... I kinda registered for this today... I picked 1115-1245 as start time... because I think I might be slow we will get placed based on the majority of choices... so we will get the slot that the most of the team picks... so make sure that people pick the 1115 time slot So far there are 3 of us team is "nerdfitness" come on out and race with us!!!
  4. A couple years ago I was biking with my kids... it was our FIRST long ride (about 50 miles)... we were on our way back to the car but still about 10 miles from the car... we were tired.... we were hot... Zombie (my youngest he was about 10 then??) got VERY frustrated and threw down his bike... he wanted us to go get the car and come back for him (wasn't an option because we were miles from the nearest access point)... I told him whenever I get frustrated I think of my favorite verse and my favorite childhood book and he was like HUH? and I said... I can do all things (through Christ who strengthens me) and the little engine that could... I just say over and over I can do all things I can do all things I can do all things... like the little engine and he was like... ok mom and started riding... then like 1/2 mile later he started to slow down... so I asked him "what does ALL mean"... and he was like HUH?!... does all mean some? does all mean just a few? does all mean only the easy things?... and he was like DUH mom all means ALL and he kept riding.... about 1/2 mile more he started slowing down... and I was like... hey chris is this one of those things? he says no mom and I am thinking that he totally missed the point... and then he says... mom we already done 32 miles and we only got 8 more till we get to the car... this isn't a thing... this is HALF a thing... and we made it to the car with no more arguments so now when we got hard stuffs.... we tell each other... this isn't a thing... and we kinda know what it means so this challenge.... It isn't a thing... it's half a thing here's a little backstory here's a little motivation here's a couple (or three) goals gym 2xweek run/walk Ezra daily (I don't have any pics of ME running... so you get my constant companion/running partner) don't die/cross the finish line at the spartan Shakespeare and I will be flying to Boston on le 14th of november to race ... we will be meeting with a bunch of other nerds... nerdsgiving is going to happen... we are flying back on that sunday... TL:DR - here's the goalsgym 2xweekrun/walk Ezra dailydon't die/cross the finish line at the spartan ------------------------------------------------disclaimers: you might notice I don't do stat points... I decided long ago that they are detrimental to my mental health... although I do say grading will be based on effort and not achievement – achievement will come with sufficient effort also... if you've been around here a while you know that I do a LOT of hiking... because of my health issues I HAVE to draw a fine line on how much I do... I reserve the right to substitute a hike for a run/gym day
  5. Interestingly enough I am making the most money I have ever made in my entire life and I am more broke than I have ever been. I bought the book (Dave Ramsey) Total money makeover. My friend (not sure who she is going to be when she joins NF so I am gonna call her D… until I know her name here) and I are going to read this book… 1 chapter in the week between challenges and then 2 chapters per week for 6 weeks… there are also worksheets to work though… I intend to get my finances in order!! I am taking 6 months off in 3 years (in order to hike the appalachian trail) and I have to have a significant amount of money set aside… also I am not getting any younger here!! I have to prepare for a fabulous retirement!! I have made a spreadsheet with the plan here Chapter/homework week 0 The total money makeover challenge worksheet: major components of a healthy financial plan week 1 denial debt myths worksheet: consumer equity sheet worksheet: income sources week 2 money myths two more hurdles worksheet: monthly cash-flow plan worksheet: recommended percentages week 3 save $1,000 fast the debt snowball worksheet: allocated-spending plan worksheet: the debt snowball week 4 finish the emergency fund maximize retirement investing worksheet:irregular-income planning worksheet: breakdown of savings week 5 college funding pay off the home mortgage worksheet: pro rata debts week 6 build wealth like crazy live like no one else (I am expecting people to put their name as a column header and then an X as each item is completed) I understand that different editions of the book may have the chapters in different orders so I have listed them without chapter number and in the order they are in my book... I am hoping that we can read the book and discuss it here and do the worksheets... we can cheer each other on and give advices as long as we all understand that we are not professionals and we don't give professional advice!! of course I am not expecting you to share your worksheets or your numbers or whatnot... this will be talking about the advice in the book and finding ways to work it in our lives (because honestly I don't care about how much you make/spend ) I will edit this post to list participants: alienjenn Heidi Elastigirl MaidofRus Bekah TheLovelyMissBeans
  6. alienjenn - TMNTs So last challenge I tried to center myself and get back to who I am… get back to the basics of life… and I am getting there… but I wanna get back to what I love… and I LOVE the turtles!! Teenage -Tough them turtles are some tough dudes… and I think they go to the gym 2xweek or more! I will go to the gym twice weekly… ALTHOUGH I reserve the right to substitute a big hike for a gym visit Mutant Money Makeover - Interestingly enough I am making the most money I have ever made in my entire life and I am more broke than I have ever been. I am taking 6 months off in 3 years and I have to have a significant amount of money set aside… also I am not getting any younger here!! I have to prepare for a fabulous retirement!! http://rebellion.ner...money-makeover/ Ninja Play ninjas know how to have a good time… especially THESE ninjas!! I haven’t entirely decided how to define this goal… other than I want to practice nonstandard movement… jumping on things (especially flatfoot jumps up the stairs and such)... the forest floor is lava… maybe rolling down hills… just playing and being a kid… we don’t get OLD until we stop playing!!!~ Turtle - slow steady turtle miles!! last challenge my goal was to walk at least 2 miles a day… with 2 of my days including runs… i am needing to run through the zombie run 5k trainer program again… i had gotten to where i was able to run 5k consecutively… and i lost it… so i am working on it again… I am training for a spartan in august! i have to be able to run! and be fast… and so my goal this time is 3 miles per day… and at least one 10 mile day per week S - spiritual I feel MUCH better when I spend time with God every day… I am not going to quantify this because I HATE the idea of “punching the clock†not gonna say I will pray x minutes a day or I will read y pages in my bible or I will do whatever… but I have been seriously slacking here and I need to remedy this!!! grading will be based on effort and not achievement – achievement will come with sufficient effort TL:DR teenage tough = gym 2xweek mutant money makeover = read the book do the stuff ninja play = PLAY! turtle miles = 3 miles per day/ 10 miles one day per week s- spirital = time with God daily
