  1. Good day everyone. I'm a 26 year-old male living deep in the heart of Texas aka AUSTIN. Depending on who you ask or whether you look at my drivers license I'm about 5' 7" and currently weighing in at 166 lbs. I'm going through an interesting time in life that I like to call my quarterlife crisis. Things like getting blackout drunk have become less appealing to me as I put more and more focus into my business, relationships and physical fitness. Maybe that's just growing up... but for the sake of this forum post allow me to be a bit more dramatic My quarterlife crisis has lead me to join a few more accountability groups like this to help myself and others push towards our goals of world domination. Fitness goals: I like deadlifts, low reps and no cardio. My target PRs for this year are a 500 lb deadlift, 315 bench, and ??? squat. I haven't ever maxed at squats with proper form so I'm not sure where I'm going there. Ideally this will happy at ~ 159 lbs. I'm trying to cut weight now which means I spend 10 minutes doing cardio and drink less beer at night. Powerlifting???: I'm going to enter an amateur powerlifting contest by the end of the year. I like the idea that it's a total mental challenge, just me competing against the weights. I've never trained to be a powerlifter or anything like that so I'm pumped to learn from those active in this forum. My rant about video games: The games that took the most amount of my life are: Age of Empires, Age of Empires II, Starcraft, Diablo II, Counter-Strike 1.6, World of Warcraft (got to level 60 and quit), CoD Modern Warfare, Skyrim and NHL 2009 - on. I recently got an XBOX ONE and have since played / own: Diablo 3, CoD AW, Shadows of Mordor, NHL15, Assasin's Creed. NHL15 is the only game I really like to play with friends, the rest of them are kind of boring to me especially Assasin's Creed and Mordor. So repetitive... I kind of want to download Skyrim on XBOX One, because I like questing and trying to climb up all of the mountains. I also want to try League of Legends one day, but am scared.
  2. Hi, I'm Wayward Son, or Darius, or D... whichever you prefer, I don't get too hung up on names or labels. I am currently serving in the US Navy on an aircraft carrier out of North Island, San Diego, CA. Getting ready to separate/retire after 19/20 years of active service. After that I'll be heading to Austin, TX to complete my degree in Psychology and then work on a Doctorate in Counseling. I'm a huge geek: fantasy, sci-fi, star wars, lord of the rings, wheel of time, marvel, witchblade, tabletop roleplaying (that's a huge one for me)... needless to say, tons of stuff. I'm looking for a buddy, someone who needs the same things I need in sticking to my goals for my challenges. Now comes the hard part... some criteria, it's not a lot, but I'm a freak of nature, so bear with me. 1) I would prefer a female partner. I was raised entirely by women and I listen better to them, as I think I'm smarter than most men... yep, fatal flaw, I know. Sue me. 2) I would prefer someone in the U.S. Just because of time zones and roaming charges. Bonus points if you're in California or Texas 3) I would like someone who is going to stick with it. Oh and call me on my bullshit when I start to not stick with it. You do that for me, I'll do that for you. That's it, just three little criteria.
  3. Speaking of Dazed and Confused, I'm in Austin. I've been reading Nerd Fitness articles for over a year now and I've decided to crawl out from under my rock and try to navigate the forums. I keep trying to stay on track, but it only lasts so long before I cave in again. I'm always in this on my own because no one around me is too into fitness. I can only imagine how inspiring it would be to have a bunch of people working with me and cheering each other on. I've grown up as an overweight kid and I've finally made it to average weight, but it's not good enough for me. I want to maintain a healthy diet and be strong. I wouldn't mind if that strength showed either. So I'm really hoping to buckle up and accomplish the goals I've had for so many years. Who's with me? What are you guys doing to stay on track? I'm in martial arts, focusing on boxing!
  4. Salutations from Austin TX! After many years of being in decent shape, never any problems performing in work our play, I've finally decided to really energize and level up! I spent a long time working in fields that require exertion, heavy lifting, etc, and never had any problems. But now, a few years after being at a desk and watching others perform the manual labour, I realize I'm not quite in the shape I used to be in. Couple that with a lovely wife who's turned into a gym bunny and you have a prescription to get in shape! So I looked around ye ole interwebs and found the perfect place, here! My plans are to become an Assassin as per the Professions article, and take my quickly aging ass to the Ninja Warrior Tryouts in Dallas later this year. HELP(in a good way!)
