  1. Lightning is no more. I'm coming back to NF, after a couple of months off, as Batgrl. So much has changed in my life and I realized my Alter Ego needed to change too. So, my story in a nutshell... I returned to work after 20 years of being a SAHM, Homeschool teacher, freelance writer, and freelance graphic designer. I am inching my way towards my childhood dream of being Batgirl thanks to my new job in a library. But, figuring out how to combine work, the kids, the house AND fitness has been hard, really hard. Luckily, Batgrl knows how to lead a double life . Im ready to be a sexy librarian by day and badass crime fighter by night. I'm ready to have it all! Goal 1: Lose 10 pounds of fat Tracking with MFP Paleo I have slowly been putting on weight and even though the scale hasn't risen more than a few pounds I can tell that I've gained fat and lost muscle. I am also coming off of a week of complete debauchery (Gotham has a lot of naughty distractions) so, I need a diet reset. Goal 2: Buff Up Bodyweight exercises 3x a week plus 4th day of any exercise Mobility work 3x a week Goal 3: Clear Headed Fish Oil daily Medicine daily Weekly acts of Self-Care Life Goal: Librarians need to Read Finish two books Read a comic book Get advice on Batgirl comics
  2. Whilst I probably need to put in a backstory to explain my absence, that can wait... The inspiration has struck! I have always wanted to be Wonder Woman (or something like that...) but when I try to apply this to my health and fitness Epic Quest, it just doesn't work. I am not an Amazon princess. I likes the make Optimus Prime proud post, and took inspiration from the little by little change idea, but I am not an Autobot. I thought with my craptastic body, I could be Ironman and build better armour, a better life around my limitations... but I only wish I was a genius, billionaire playboy. So where does this leave me for inspiration? Why Batgirl? She fits what I have to work with and where I want to go... To clarify, this is the Barbara Gordon Batgirl. Barbara Gordon/Batgirl has red hair - Ginger enough, Check! Batgirl rides a motorcycle - Check! Barbara Gordon has a doctorate in Library science and runs a big city library... I have a Masters in Teacher Librarianship and run amok at a girls school - close enough we can both use our information skills for good! Barbara Gordon/Batgirl rises (literally) from her disability with treatment and training - This I must do! I am thankfully not wheelchair bound but what my knee(s) need is really rehabilitation. This is the reality but I can improve it! Barbara Gordon/Batgirl begins her rehabilitation with Martial Arts practice whilst still in the chair - I am back to Taekwondo after 25 years but still not at the same belt level as I relearn as a senior student. My fighting skills are still pretty good but I need to commit to practice and training! Batgirl looks really good in that suit! Strong and lean - I want that. To do that means I need to take a lot better care of my nutrition. ...Stay tuned for the next exciting episode where I outline how I am going to start this! Becoming Batgirl totally fits with my Epic Quest to be fit and healthy as I can be by the time I turn 40 (just over a year away) and may just provide the little extra kick of motivation required!
