I fell off my workout horse months ago and just cannot seem to get back into the groove of things, so I figured I'd try to find someone near me who can help keep me accountable to myself and to them. Not sure what my odds are of succeeding in this as the NF forums seem somewhat small compared to others, but it never hurts to try. I would like to meet a fellow rebel who is at any stage of their workout goals, whether that be just starting or well established with years of steady habit building success under their belt. I just need someone to meet with two or three times a week for a run, or some circuit training, or some weightlifting, or yoga, or whatever. I don't care what. I just need to get moving and build some habits. I would appreciate the help enormously as I'm tired of being squishy and tired, and I'm already staring the beginnings of health problems in the face. I need to get on top of them while I'm young so I don't spend my life with hypertension and high cholesterol. If anyone is interested, don't hesitate to contact me or leave a post saying to contact you.
  2. I have just moved to Pataskala Ohio and my husband is not really into working out or some of the more nerd things I like. I was looking for a buddy either in the area or online/txt who may also like video games, larp, renaissance faires, pokemon, sports, and who would be willing to help keep me accountable and be able to talk nerd as well . Nerd workouts are the best workouts! If you have/love pets as well I love going to the dog park for a work out for both me and my pups. As I am just restarting my adventure I do not have many weights so most of my workouts are bodyweight(though there is enough of that lol), walks, or I get creative with other activities such as sports, the dogpark, or larp. -Ecco

  5. I had second thoughts about this post of mine looking for a fitness buddy. I think I'm "drinking the koolade" a little by completing a NF quest that asks me to partner up with people for accountability and motivation. I don't REALLY need this part. I figure if I naturally run into somebody that seems like a good person to team up with, then maybe I'll do it. But actually I've tried it already and it was a pain in the ass to get anybody to meet on a regular basis, or commit to much of anything at all. We had 3 gym meet-ups and it sorta petered off. In the end, I feel like I'm expending more energy that I get back from it. So I'm not going to push to co-mingle my fitness goals with other peoples'. Original "ad" content below deleted.   6. I love seeing success stories posted all over NF. It is inspiring no matter what the starting weight! Even the smallest victory is a victory to be praised! However, I am getting a little discouraged that I can't find anyone who is anywhere near my level of (un)fitness. Even in the weight loss category... So I am posting here in hopes of finding someone else who has found themselves in a similar position, hiding in a suit of fat and unable to recognize themselves in the mirror. Here is a little about me and some stats. I have been obese since I was 5 years old. I am an emotional eater. I binge. I struggle with depression. I feed my emotions. It's sad. And it needs to stop! Age: 26 Height: 5"8' Weight: 300 BMI:45.61 I have a punching bag, some resistance bands and an elliptical in my basement and I've joined a gym to have close access to more free weights and other workout equipment. I am so thankful for the encouragement and awesomeness provided by Steve and NF. I am making progress and would love to hear from anyone else about their journey.

  9. I'm Bipolar and Manic-depressive. I was also born without feelings. Probably Aspergers. So on somje days I will be your greatest asset, the greatest motivator you've ever seen. And some days I'll be thinking about removing your skin and using it as a cape. Skinman. No powers, just a lot of explaining to do. So we should probably keep this online and safe. So take the mace out of your purse, (Wow it's an actual mace, is that a morning star?) +3 to awesome. I need an equally evil but fair taskmaster to keep me on the straight and narrow. For example, I ate an entire family-sized bag of peanut butter M&M's last night. Feeling lethargic today. So if you haven't already called the police and went to the panic room, let's talk.
  10. Hey all, I have a membership to 24 hr Fitness and am looking for a workout buddy. I prefer the Northgate gym as it's nicer. I can workout in the mornings or evenings. I would love someone who prefers to split their workouts 1/2 cardio, 1/2 weights/strength training. I would also like someone who's focused on eating healthy as I really need some accountability with that. I'm a 32 yr old female. I don't care if my sidekick is male or female.
  11. If you answered 'Yes!' to the above question, then I need you to fix me and you need me to let you fix me! I'm a 21 year old gal originally from Toronto, but kind of hopping around the world. Went to college in England, volunteered in Moscow for a year and just got back from a year in California. I'm a travel junkie wannabe and love going anywhere! I'm into entrepreneurship (started my first retail business in 10th grade) and I'm currently working on www.ProjectSWAG.org, an educator's core method to inspiring self esteem, self confidence and character building in students. I hope to make a passive income online in the long term so I can continue doing what I love doing and not have to worry about a job. But, back to this - I'm 5'3.5" and weigh 185lbs. I'd really love to get down to 135 in the long term. Short term goal is to drop down to 155lb. After living a pretty sedentary life for 21 years, I finally started CrossFit about 8 months ago. I absolutely love it and I think it's finally time I start taking control of my eating habits. I'm looking for a weight loss buddy and mentor whom I can text at any time - especially when I have an instant craving and who can say - "Don't do it!" I'm looking for encouragement as well as law enforcement While I love that there's this awesome community here and I'm sure you're all awesome people, I really want to focus and take charge of this change and therefore am only looking for 1 buddy.   12. Hey guys, My name is Erin and I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I am 22 years old and have, in the past few years, gone on a bit of a roller coaster in my health/fitness life. I've tried a lot of things and fallen off many many wagons. I'm currently trying to convince myself that slower is better, that every healthy choice helps, and that consistence and persistence are key. I would love to have a buddy I can text with my tiny milestones (I didn't eat a cupcake today! I went to sleep on time last night! I just walked an extra tram stop!) and who can text me back with encouragements and rallying cries to help me when I'm feeling down or losing my determination. I would love to do the same for someone else in a similar situation, and would love someone in Australia so I can text you for free (I have a limited budget as I am a student and work in hospitality) Help me!
  13. Hi, I'm Wayward Son, or Darius, or D... whichever you prefer, I don't get too hung up on names or labels. I am currently serving in the US Navy on an aircraft carrier out of North Island, San Diego, CA. Getting ready to separate/retire after 19/20 years of active service. After that I'll be heading to Austin, TX to complete my degree in Psychology and then work on a Doctorate in Counseling. I'm a huge geek: fantasy, sci-fi, star wars, lord of the rings, wheel of time, marvel, witchblade, tabletop roleplaying (that's a huge one for me)... needless to say, tons of stuff. I'm looking for a buddy, someone who needs the same things I need in sticking to my goals for my challenges. Now comes the hard part... some criteria, it's not a lot, but I'm a freak of nature, so bear with me. 1) I would prefer a female partner. I was raised entirely by women and I listen better to them, as I think I'm smarter than most men... yep, fatal flaw, I know. Sue me. 2) I would prefer someone in the U.S. Just because of time zones and roaming charges. Bonus points if you're in California or Texas 3) I would like someone who is going to stick with it. Oh and call me on my bullshit when I start to not stick with it. You do that for me, I'll do that for you. That's it, just three little criteria.
  14. Hi Nerds! I am looking for an accountabilibuddy that I could text with in order to motivate/remind each other to make good eating choices and to exercise. I find it difficult to follow a forum online as my schedule is quite random, thus texting is more flexible and convenient! I'm hoping to find someone that can help me, and who I can help in return! My goals are to lose around 50-70 lbs. I'm 23 and into video games, politics, movies, books (lots of books), and entrepreneurship - I'm sure we can think of some more things to chat about too .   15. I've been working out on my own at home, but it's hard to stay motivated all the time. Today, I joined a gym hoping that will give me an extra kick in the pants (plus access to a multitude of free weights!!!) I would really like to have a workout buddy in the area who would meet occasionally (often) for workouts and check ins.
