  1. So after originally posting in the Ranger's forum I've been thinking on the journey ahead. I am stiff, and could probably stand to do a primer to get back into fighting form, so to speak. So Would I or should I join the Druids for a time since yoga is going to be a big part of my beginning or will it be okay to stay with the Rangers since they're more a cross-fit/ functional fitness minded group? Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated... Within reason.
  2. Hi there, I'm new to these forums. Actually, I made an account with NF quite some time ago, but this is the first time I've had the guts to do anything with it. This is waaay out of my comfort zone! I'm here because I need inspiration and accountability to get in better shape. Inspiration because, well, I'm kind of a geek, and NF is the only platform (with its characters, classes and quests) that, for me, turns health and fitness into a fun challenge. And accountability because, as you know since you're here, community is important, and I need to be talking to other people about my fitness goals, successes and struggles. More about me: I'm a Californian living in the UK. I'm a fairly accomplished musician and play(ed) guitar in a progressive rock band back home. I read a lot - theology, philosophy, politics, history, fiction. I love music, television and film. And food, I love food (ugh). I'm 30 years old, married, and have a four month old daughter. Yesterday I started a nutritional and fitness regime with the aims of losing about 25lb, getting leaner and hopefully building a bit of muscle, or at least toning. We're going back to California on holiday in November, so I hope to hit my weight loss targets and make some noticeable changes to my physique by then. You wouldn't look at me and think I'm terribly unfit, but I am a bit doughy these days. I walk a lot and get to the gym when I can, but I'm not in great shape and am not eating as well as I should be. Jason Bourne, Star Wars and watching baseball are the things that best motivate me to want to get my ass to the gym! One question about the classes: I've narrowed it down to choosing between an adventurer, assassin, monk or ranger. How should I choose between them? How did you ultimately choose your class? Basically, which class would Bourne fall into, because that's the badass I'd like to become in my dreams haha. Anyways thanks folks, nice to meet you and hopefully see you round!
  3. Diet Drink tea when I first wake up instead of soda. Drink more water during the day. -Note: My average drinks consist of only Dr. Pepper and maybe one to two small glasses of water each day. Fitness Complete the NerdFitness Bodyweight Workout at least 1x per week. Level Up Your Life Write 1000 words a day at least 3x each week. Smoke at most seven cigarettes a day instead of nine. Epic Quest One day I wish to become a Personal Trainer and/or a Fitness Instructor at a Gym. It is my heart's desire to help people better themselves. I want to teach them how to train and teach them how to love doing it. First things first, though, is that I need to get in shape myself before I help others get in shape. I also need to learn the very skills I want to teach. I also want to become a power lifter some day. I am saving up for any and all equipment I will need and/or a gym membership. (Sadly gym memberships are very expensive around here.) I don't know anything about it; not the lingo, nothing. But, I am studying and I figure I should work on cardio first anyway.
  4. Heya people. Muhammad Zaid here, can call me Zaid or babyzee(well nobody every called me that except for my ex) but anyway. Hi and I'm glad I find an awesome forum that isn't too serious like bodybuilding.com. Forums like that ends up demoralising me.Lol. I kind of forgot where can i read up on the different classes attributes and stats. I've always like magic based though. Anyone can send me a link. I can't find it since yesterday.
  5. Greetings all, I had a quick question. For the last couple months, I've been doing a lot of general fitness things, working out an hour 3 times a week, cleaning up my diet, trying to get a decent amount of sleep each night despite work, etc. Recently I've become engrossed in the masterpiece that is The Witcher 3 (I'm late to the party, I know), and I was wondering if any of you guys knew what NF class Geralt would fall under, if I wanted to point my plan in a direction that would get me as close to a Witcher as possible without the mutations haha. My guess was Ranger, cause of the endurance to track monsters and people over distance as well as the strength to take them on. Monk could also be a possibility because of his proficiency at hand to hand combat. What do you guys think, both about the class or advice on adjustments I can make to take steps towards that goal?
  6. So I was going through the classes the other night, as I am kinda new, and thought.. hmm.. I'm kind of a warrior, but strength training won't be my only focus.. I'm kind of a Ranger, but also kind of a Scout.. Somewhere in between is where I really fit.. I hate running, but everything else? Love it... Here's my idea: A class that focuses on other outdoor sports but not running.. maybe sprinkle a little in there occasionally for those that do like it, but skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cycling, rollerblading, hiking (backpacking too) We could be called Juggernauts. We are hardcore and we use sophisticated tools to help us kill it, whether it is a wheeled steed of steel to aid our treacherous path across the lands, or we travel silently like a rogue, shredding new paths in the back-country snow. But then when we can't get outdoors to continue our epic adventure, we maintain top form in the weight room... Yay, nay? I had a whole post written out and it was awesome... then my laptop died....LOL Rebecca
  7. Hi, I am new here, i just joined the community today. I am looking forward to meeting people who enjoy working out like me. I typically workout 30-60 minutes for a week. I am looking to get in shape and have a body fat percentage of 15%, yet right now it is at 21%. Over the past few days, I have doing mostly calisthenics in 3 sets of eight circuits with weight lifting using 15 lb weights, training for pull-ups (still working to complete one, but making progress because I can lift myself half-way to the bar) and running 2.5 miles each day. I am also working toward doing a cartwheel, handstand, forward roll and also self-defense techniques like tai chi I am also eating healthier with eating more fruits and vegetables, moderate protein and carbohydrates. I feel happy with my choices, yet I am still looking forward to become more in shape. Currently I feel like I fit in the Ranger class, yet I would like to work my way up to the Assassin or Monk class. If anyone has any ideas on yoga moves, gymnastic moves, martial arts, or anything that would help me build my strength, flexibility, coordination and stamina, feel free to post your ideas. I would love to hear your ideas; I have already learned a lot and enjoy the positive encouragement that I have seen in reading the nerdfit articles and forum posts. I hope to make friends and let's encourage each other to be fit. I am compassionate and understanding and since I used to be bullied in middle school, I am not judgmental and am working on building my self-confidence and feeling and looking fit. I am now 18 years old and a senior in high school and I want to be a military police or gene therapy scientist.
  8. I need help finding a way to study, I keep getting distracted and doing other things.
  9. Greetings all! Just like the other logs, this Battle Log will help me keep track of things, but they will be outside of my first 6-week challenge, as I'll be updating that on this post here. My first entry into the Battle Log is something I whipped up: my skill tree! I put this together today and wanted to plop it in here to see what everyone thought. In keeping with traditional RPG logic, this one's simple: I know it's a bit big, but I'm happy with the tree and will be adding to it/changing things as needed. Let's do this!
