  1. Bards, Paladins, Innkeepers, Clerics, Healers (and more?) of All Guilds... TAG! You're IT! A tag matching system to help nerds find other nerds of the same role-play occupation... Our primary objective for this round is to encourage others to apply the tags we developed last challenge, by spreading the word and teaching others how to apply the tags to their challenge threads. To Dos for Challenge #2 of 2016: 1) Create a short guide for how to apply tags to your challenge 2) Develop a message template with links back to the tagging guides and spread word on all guild general chat forums and to individuals across the boards 3) Refine the tag categories and names from last time, with feedback from users ------- In which we continue the work we began last challenge: With the new changes on Nerd Fitness, the old questions of "Why don't we have a Bard's guild?" or "How can I best find other nerds with the same 'class/occupation/interests'?" have surfaced again. After reading people's ideas on the CHALLENGE AND CLASS CHANGES AND UPDATES thread, I realized we don't need any new features or additional guilds. We have the necessary tool already at hand! All it will take is for a few good nerds to band together and teach people to hack the existing tag system to good advantage. The beauty of this approach (beyond the fact that it means no extra work for the hard-working NF admins and site team!) is that it is totally configurable, readily available, and should be able to adapt to any of the new features and changes that will appear on Nerd Fitness in the coming months. Are you with me? What I'd like to do is start a sort of "meta-accountability group" team that would help connect nerds that want to play "tag" to be more accountable to each other. What I see this group doing is to make up a list of suggested tags, and then fanning out across the forums to let people know that there is a way to connect with others of similar interests, whatever their guild affiliations may (or may not) be. This approach to tagging can work independently of the guilds, as the occupations that are most mentioned/requested cross guild lines, much like most of the regular accountability groups. And I believe that once a little coordination is in place, it could encourage "tag" groups to form their own accountability groups as well, thus strengthening the entire system. My hope is that this method will help people feel more at home in their guilds, appreciating the camaraderie and help system already there, and also fulfill the concurrent need to connect with others of similar interests across guild lines. Who wants to play "TAG"? You can sign up to be a guild-focused flagger and/or an occupation-focused tagger. Both roles are needed, but have slightly different responsibilities. Everything below is really just a simple perception shift from "class" or guild-based thinking, to "occupation" based thinking. Guild Flaggers are nerds who know one guild well and have connections to many individuals within it. They work within their existing guild to let those they see looking for like-minded people know that there is a way to connect with people of similar "occupation" outside of or across guilds. This can be done via challenge threads, posts in guild chat threads, or PMs, by providing links to the tag spreadsheet we will create as part of this group and by providing instructions on how to tag a topic post. Occupation Taggers are people who know quite a few people in more than one guild and most likely have connections to a number of individuals with similar interests, regardless of their guild affiliation. They work with anyone they see looking for like-minded people and let them know that there is a way to connect with people of similar "occupation" whatever their guild affiliation. This can be done via challenge threads, posts in interest-related forums (general forums, accountability groups, PVPs, battle logs, etc.), or PMs, by providing links to the tag spreadsheet we will create as part of this group and by providing instructions on how to tag a topic post. As a "meta-accountability group," I expect most people interested in doing this will be rebels of some experience who find that giving something back to the NF community is fulfilling and helpful to their own challenges. That said, you don't have to many challenges behind you or know a lot of people to do this. The only pre-requisite is to be willing to reach out when you see the opportunity. GUILD FLAGGERS ShadowLion OCCUPATION TAGGERS Introduce yourself below and let me know if you want to be a tagger or a flagger.

  3. Since we've become popular with people for an Accountabilibuddy group (10 memebers last challenge?!?), the Wild Hunt will ride again! We're focused on Jim Butcher's The Dresden Files. If you don't know about this amazing series, go check it out now here! The Wild Hunt is an ethereal hunting party, summoned from the depths of Faerie and made up of Sidhe lords and ladies along with their companions. It is designed to ride down prey with cold, and brutal, efficiency. While you are out late and alone one Halloween night, you hear the sound of a hunting horn and the baying of a pack of hounds. Terror grips you and you only have three choices: join, hide or die. Joining the hunt means competing again the best warriors of all time: Odin, Herne the Hunter, King Arthur, and the Erlking, among others. Hiding means you can only hope the monsters won't find you and kill you anyway; or if you choose to flee as prey to somehow outpace the horses. And dying...well, that's not really an option now, is it? If you choose to join, you are committing to working towards your challenges, whatever they may be, for the duration of the hunt (our 6 week challenge). Offering support to your fellow riders and being relentless towards your own goals. We will be dedicated and we will succeed or die trying! And for this Hunt, we will have mini-challenges along the way as well. All Dresden-themed of course! So what will you do: join, hide or die? Rules 1. Follow this thread and other members threads by clicking the red 'follow this topic' button at the top right of your screen. 2. Post a short introduction about yourself, what your challenge is all about and how it pertains to the Dresden Files. 3. Discuss the Dresden Files here! 6. The Sailor Senshi are coming to CNF 2015! That's right, we intend to descend en masse upon camp and spread love and joy (and possibly glitter) everywhere! But before we don our iconic uniforms, we're going to spend the next few months working on being sailor fit and sailor awesome! How, you ask? By sharing our successes and failures, participating in a mini or two, and probably having gif parties. Because what would a Nerd Fitness challenge be without gif parties? This is a closed group for those of us going to camp who are planning on Sailor Senshi costumes. If you're interested in an unclaimed slot, please contact me! 7. Hey, Doodlies! Welcome back! GROUP CLOSED! No more room, sorry! If you were with us last time and haven't got round to asking to join yet, well, I'll probably let you in. But apart from you, we're closed now. Sorry! We're the miscellaneous beings attempting to lose weight - we're each doing our own thing in that respect, but it's good to have a group with a common goal. Behold! This challenge's batch: Team List: Sarah Barr (Co-Captain), Deftona (Co-Captain), DrFeelgood, Sokkasm, Terah, Jare_Bear, Chiyou, LadyShello, Our.Lady.Of.Ashes, Polgara, cfpo721, Lightning, ShadowSeeker Follow as many people as you like, but don't overwhelm yourself; Co-Captains will try to follow at least half the squad each. We've had competitions before, but I think it was a bit too much pressure, so no competitions this time round. Just do you. Aim to stick to your challenge goals, not to lose weight specifically - if you're not losing weight, just sensibly adjust your challenge goals next time, and be happy that all that extra fruit, veg, water and exercise will still be doing your body good. If you can hand-on-heart say you worked hard today, that's excellent. Now go forth, and kick ass.
  8. The building was on fire, and it wasn’t my fault. - Harry Dresden, Blood Rites Sometimes the Wild Hunt appears in different forms. This time, purple flying monkeys are among the bad things coming for you. 9. In this Enlightened corner of the Fitalaxy, six Nerdians have embarked on a life-altering journey. Adventurers, assassin, ranger, scout and Monk, born many light years apart, it is their fierceness, their tenacity and an immoderate love for hilarious gifs that brought them together. Aboard the Milano (or a good pair of trainers), they are ready to rocket through the cosmos in an Epic Quest for Legendary Health and Strength. -------- Seven weeks have passed since the Nerdians united for the first time. A new challenge is about to begin and it is time for us to rally again and come together, stronger and wiser, with fresh determination and optimism. The future is ours to seize!
  10. [sorry, we're well and truly full now!] Hey, Accountabiddlydoodlies! We did great last time, here's to a new challenge! New people: welcome, we're people who want to lose weight and plan on cheering each other on to make sure we stick to sensible goals to accomplish that! First: Read below! Second: Look at your challenge goals, make sure they're sensible. You want to make sure you're not eating too little, you want to make sure you're getting enough nutrients, you want to make sure your exercise plan is effective, but not going to break you by Week Two so you have to sit the rest of the challenge out. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Hurr. Third: If you want to join us, say hi, and link to your current challenge thread. Mention what you struggle with, and what you could help other people with. Fourth: We were so numerous we had to split into teams last time. We will do so again as soon as someone volunteers as Team 2's leader. I'll add team lists below once we split. Try and keep tabs on a couple of people in your team. If you have the time to follow your whole team or the whole group, great, but don't stress about following lots of people. Team 2's thread is HERE! This time round, we're not going to measure progress as weight lost - we're going to measure it as how many days you stick to your goals for. (So, you score yourself out of 7 at the end of each week, and the team with the highest average total that week wins the glory. Scores below.) If you lose weight, great, but the point is to work hard at your goals because if they're sensible, they'll do you good. Team 1: Sarah Barr [Captain], Deftona, LadyShello, DrFeelgood, Chiyou, DrCalcart, Artemisia Victoria, KayDubEff, Mikey08 Team 2: T2sarahconnor [Captain], Retxab, Aalex, Lightning, Terah, Sokkasm, Jacob O'Brien, Goldfever, Heidi TEAM SCORE SHEET HERE. Stick yer weekly score on that. Week 1: Week 2: Week 3: Week 4: Week 5: Week 6: Team 1 Average: 5.1/7 Team 1 Average: 4.4/7 Team 1 Average: /7 Team 1 Average: /7 Team 1 Average: /7 Team 1 Average: /7 Team 2 Average: 5.9/7 Team 2 Average: 2.7/7 Team 2 Average: /7 Team 2 Average: /7 Team 2 Average: /7 Team 2 Average: /7 (Hope that formatting works or that's going to be one messy table.) Good luck!

  12. Raise the gates! Covering fire and… go! Welcome to Abel Township, though I suppose your arrival here has been in under less than ideal circumstances, but what’s ideal anymore anyway? The zombie apocalypse is upon us, and to make matters more complicated, someone shot the chopper you were riding when you were coming to Abel out of the sky with a rocket launcher. Abel is now your home, and to earn your keep, you take on the mantle of Runner 5 to do what runners need to do to help survive this waking nightmare. Over the next six weeks, we’re going to help you become the best Runner 5 you can possibly be. Every Monday I’ll post a (optional!) challenge, but we can also use this as a forum to babble about the characters and plot and other features of the Zombies, Run! apps, too. This accountabilibuddy group is open to users of both the main Zombies, Run! app and the Zombies, Run! 5K app. A couple of ground rules: Support each other and be respectful! Weekly challenges are optional. Please be sure that you are able to complete your own goals before taking on any of these! Put all spoilers under a spoiler cut! ([ spoiler ]spoilers here[ /spoiler ], minus the space inside the brackets) And make sure to mark up to what mission you’re posting spoilers about. That way people still in season 1 won’t get spoiled for what happens in season 2 or 3, etc. The only assumption that's safe to make is that we all went through the very first mission Jolly Alpha Five Niner since it's in both the main app and the 5K app.If interested, please sign up with a link to your challenge thread so we can support you, note which app (main or 5K) you're using and your progress thus far, and if you want a link to your Zombies, Run! user page. Don't forget to also sign-up on the spreadsheet here! We're under Cross-Guild since I know more than just Scouts and Rangers and Level 1's use the app! 16. Welcome!! This accountability group is a little different - we're playing a game together in the hopes of getting through the upcoming holiday season with both our waistlines and our good spirits intact. You are welcome to join us!! This is a cross-guild group, and even Level 1's may join in if you like. The game is modeled on several easy kid's games, such as Candy Land or Chutes and Ladders. No copyright infringement is intended. Also, it is NOT a well-designed or carefully constructed game. I was going to play this by myself, but the idea intrigued other people; so let's give it a whirl. There are no winners or losers. I hope that everyone gets to the end of the board by the end of the challenge!! We're here to cheer each other on. Maybe engage in a little good-natured ribbing. But I hope to see everyone in the Celebration Square at the end of the challenge!!! Most of the activities you'll undertake to play the game will be decided by YOU. I'll share my lists of adventures, rewards, forfeits (ugh!), and challenges, but I really want this game to be customized to your needs and circumstances. I'm creating some resources that you can download and print out, but those are optional and the game can be played by using dice or rolling random numbers any way that you can (such as using a random number generator on your smart phone). You will need a Google account in order to access the online board. So, if you are interested, read the (yes, rather long) rules post and add your name to the game board. We'll start the game when the challenge begins!

  18. As invented in MaxCurtis' Feb-Apr Challenge! Read the rules carefully! Please only do exercises that are at your level! If you use glass-bottles/glasses, be extra-careful. We don't want you to get hurt! If you do an exercise and notice you can't manage to add the drink, please stop and get a new exercise! How it works: Basically, it's a type of twister game, only instead of spinning the colour-wheel, you roll dice and instead of the twister mat, you do a yoga pose. - Use a dice generator/use a d100 die and roll once. (For example this one: http://www.rangen.co.uk/misc/dicegen.php ) - Go to the PvP spreadsheet, look up the number you rolled. - Do the pose, and once you're comfortable enough in that pose, pick up a drink. - Take a sip, then give evidence (picture or video, whatever you're comfortable with) - Put the name and date of you accomplishing the pose in the spreadsheet and colour the name of the pose green Rules: - Under no circumstances overextend yourself. This is a game, and of course a bit of a challenge, but we really, really don't want to see you get hurt. - The PvP is loosely turn-based. There will be no set order to allow people to come in whenever they want, but once you've had your turn, you have to wait for at least one person do strike a pose before you can turn again. - Each pose can only be done once. If you roll a number that's been rolled before, roll again! (unless we reach 100 super quick, then stars all over again in the next column!) Please note! While this PvP is called 'beer yoga', you don't have to drink beer. You have to drink something, but what it is is completely up to you. You can use your hands, mouth, and in really complicated poses/if you don't feel comfortable using either to hold a bottle or cup, you may use a straw. You don't need to drink a whole bottle either - the drink is just a little extra. Bottoms up!
  19. This is a new group, very loosely based on the Black Dog Tamers, which was a support group for people with depression. In the next six weeks, we are going to teach ourselves to be a bit more positive about almost anything, but mostly about ourselves. In the current world it is easy to believe that you're worth nothing, that you're ugly, that you're eating the wrong food, etc. In reality, this is not true! Almost anyone is awesome in their own way. Especially on this forum, all challenges I have seen were of awesome people. TL;DR: What will we do In order to train ourselves in believing that we are awesome, I'd like anyone in this group to post in their own topic or in the group's topic, three times a week: One aspect of their body that's awesome at the momentOne aspect of their food today that's awesomeOne good decision they made todayI also want anyone in this group to give someone else a compliment at least three times a week, either online or IRL. Lastly, I want you to check in at least once a week with your fellow (sub-)group members. Motivation During my first few challenges, I have encountered many people that deal with self-esteem issues. I've been telling myself every night why I'm awesome for a few months now (as advised by my counselor), and it really helped me to see the world more positively . I hope others can also see the benefits of this approach. For anyone who wants to read more about positive psychology, see this article on Wikipedia and the references therein. Rules This is not a substitution for professional help. If you're doubting about whether or not you need professional help, please contact your doctor or counselor as soon as possible. You may repeat your awesome points. For example, if you eat an apple every day, you can make that your awesome point for food as often as you want.Because there are many people in this group, there are sub-groups. Please follow the people in your own sub-group. Of course you may also follow the other people if you want .If you'd like to join, the most effective way is PM'ing me. You can also post your topic in the sub-group you want to join and sign up on the spreadsheet. There will be a weekly discussion theme, but I'm not sure yet what form it will take. Probably specialized awesome-practice, about for example the weather, your job, etc. There is a maximum of 7 people per sub-group. I don't know what to do yet if there are more than 21 people that want to participate. Chances are that you'll have to wait to next challenge if you are the 22nd. Of course you can practice calling yourself awesome without being a part of this group. If you have questions, if I'm unclear or if you have suggestions, please let me know .
